That will not work either. If it cost sh 9B for one month just for unga....that nobody even saw, it will take half of the whole budget just to drop prices of everything to like 2017 levels and that will just bankrupt the country. Inflation is more a hive mentality where if one trader sees enough of others raising prices will do the same even if their cost of doing business hasn't risen due to factors out of their control. Oil prices are now below the level where they were before the Ukraine war but it is hasn't dropped at the pump why ? Greed. 3:08 Bwana Oloo’s arguments are scattered and demonstrate he has a rudimentary understanding of economics. Food accounts for 33% of household expenditure in Kenya. As such, subsidizing fertilizers for farmers reduces their input costs and helps them increase their yields. The higher output at a lower unit cost brings down the equilibrium price, thereby reducing the cost of food for consumers. His argument about food rotting in certain parts of the country is exactly why we’ve spent so much money building roads over the past 20 years. It turns out we do eat roads, indirectly, contrary to the common refrain bandied around. Bwana Latiff and team, please bring on trained economists (e.g. David Ndii and better yet two economists with opposing view points ) to add to the robustness of the discussion in real time rather than on separate days. I’m certain Bwana Oloo has lots of valuable insights to provide from the political and legal perspective but leaving him alone to discuss economics does a disservice to viewers looking to understand and be educated on these very important issues. Your viewers need to hold their government to account and shows such as yours help them make informed choices at the ballot. Keep up the good work.
