    Where I live there’s a shop kinda like a dollar store, in the uk, they sell these jars, perfect for fast aborials, there’s no need for a catch cup, the lip of the smaller ones fits in the next size I need up, with enough room for tongs

    Enjoyed the video very much Alex. That was mighty thoughtful for Karen to give you all those Tarantulas , but she knew they would be in very good hands. Yes this Covid thing has everyone making adjustments.. it can be very stressful in these times making decisions. Love the Tarantula Haven masks. they are a great design in the fabric and style. take care.

    You can also use a step drill to drill the holes in the plastic
    Step drills are made for drilling in thin plate material, they don't chip, crack or damage the plastic, and you don't need to use masking tape

If not then I know you'll find them good homes. I just ordered masks from your wife as well. My daughter needed one for when Karate opens back up next week. Looking forward to wearing them.

    That’s so nice of you to take them in! Bless her, it is easy to get loads of slings quick and then they have to grow! Also trying to keep up with large collectors like yourself is a bad idea. I’m good with my 14 for now 🤷🏾‍♀️ although I might change my mind in the future! I just love to enjoy their little lives and take good care of them so it’s been a great first year of keeping.

      I keep for two years now and i'm sitting at a cozy 12 rn. :-) I got 3 Adults , 3 Juvies and the rest are slings. For me it's def. a matter of space i have in my apartment and i like to provide Glas enclosures, so you can imagine that's taking up a bit more. Imma wait till my slings grow into juvies and give them their finals as soon as it makes sense and then work from there. If i have room for 2-3 more adults then i can get them. That's a mistake a lot of people make sadly, getting a ton of slings , not thinking forward about growth and space.

    • @ItsJadine
      @ItsJadine Před 4 lety

      Tobi Taktlos that’s a really responsible way of keeping, I like to give mine room too so that’s takes more space! I can’t wait until mine are adults, I’ve got mostly slings and a couple of grown on slings/juvies. I can’t wait to have them in glass enclosures I’m jealous 😂 yeah I agree you have to consider the size of an adults enclosure not just stack up on slings blindly! Don’t you think some people are trying to just collect them all too? They live far too long to have hundreds of them 🤦🏾‍♀️😂

I unfortunately have gone down from 5 tarantulas to just one just because of lack of space but my one, an A. geniculata, is going to grow into a monster so she has a nice large terrarium that I had fun decorating with lots of plants and moss and other pretties so it's not a terrible trade off I suppose

    How many is to many? When i can't hold up the standards of keeping that i've set for myself anymore. E.g. providing less good enclosures compared to my other ones or getting a Tarantula for the sake of getting it, having those thoughts like "well if i rehouse specimen A way before it has to be rehoused, i can use the enclosure or "if i get a critter keeper it can sit in that, with no advanced thinking about space in your home, Happens with people getting a Ton of slings VERY often, suprise! They grow! I think we've all been to expos with our buy list and ended up with something more, no problem if you can hold your standards but if not then thats bad.

    How many is too many? depending on the space in your spider room/bedroom/house, for me personally I am going to cap at around 35, at about 25 at the moment though.

    • @werner1
      @werner1 Před 4 lety +4

      That's a point a lot of people tend to overlook I personally believe you have to give your tarantulas a bit more space even if you don't see them use it we keep them in container's or tanks least we can do is to give them some spare space to move about.

    • @chloewright1
      @chloewright1 Před 3 lety +1

      @@werner1 Yes! I 100% agree. I see so many people keeping their tarantulas in tiny little enclosures that have no room at all for them to move. I give all my t's plenty of space and I believe you always should. As long as they have placed to hide where they can feel safe, you can never give them too much room. I'd much rather them have too much than not enough.

    • @chloewright1
      @chloewright1 Před 3 lety

      @@werner1 exactly! It really upsets me when I see t's in enclosures that are too small for them. I see it frequently, even on certain channels with lots of subs (I'm not going to mention any names, but there is one in particular that regularly shows off his t's in extremely small pots) like you said, they never asked to be put in this environment and I'm sure if they had the choice, they'd rather be in the wild, so we should do everything we can to replicate their natural habitat to make them feel as happy as possible. Happy holidays to you too🎄🎇🎉

  • @dprofessor3238
    @dprofessor3238 Před 4 lety

    Personally....as many as you can care for. So, in essence there isn't too many tarantulas. At one point I had over 400. Care wasn't an issue as feeding is relatively cheap and for that many only take 6-8 hours every 2 weeks. Water was automated. The only reason I still do not have them was because of outside influences (bat crap crazy ex). So as many as you can care for and have room for and that you can honestly devote the time to 😃. Good video man.

    It's really easy to get carried away when you first get into the tarantula hobby. You can find the excitement of buying t's and all the stuff that goes with them a bit addictive and then find yourself with a large collection and feeling a bit intimidated by it all. I'm glad that this woman did the right thing by contacting someone she knew could and would look after these animals in the best way possible. One thing I will say though, is I hope she wasn't keeping the avic in that empty container! Hopefully it was just moved into that temporarily, for transportation or something.
