How can a successful date be humiliating? In my teens, I managed it. It was a beautiful Virginia October night, mild and warm. I was on my motorcycle just cruising. I saw some friends in a neighborhood and stopped to talk to them. A few minutes later, I saw two girls walking, and stopped to talk to them. One wanted to go for a ride, so we drove around for a while and went to a drive-in for ice cream. It was a perfect evening, but she eventually wanted to go home. It took her to her house, and when I left, I saw my friends still hanging out. They asked what I had been doing and I told them about my good time with the girl down the street. It was when they looked confused on my calling her name that I found out I had been calling her the wrong name all night. And to think I had been planning on asking her out.

Simple. Humiliation is what the feelings and chemistry are born out of.

I didn't realize it was a date at all until it was just us in a restaurant alone together. But on the other hand, I was lied too and told it was a group hang out with the members of a university club we both went to.
I went with it because I didn't drive at the time but it was super awkward because I was NOT understanding my 'date's attempts to flirt with me - it just ended up as really dry small talk. Tried really hard to make the conversations last, but we weren't really even friends to start with.
I never chose to bring this up ti anyone until one day I just randomly recalled it as a weird day and talked about it with some close friends. Mid-way, as I'm talking, they started laughing their asses off at me.
"You're aromantic! How the hell did you not realize it was a date!?"
I, only then, realized I was tricked into a date.

Story 6: Quite the Uno reverse card. She was hoping to put the entire bill on the guy, while criticizing him and everything about him, so he matched what she was buying... And had the "backdoor" service requested by the staff, leaving the bill to her.
I know for a while, staff had the backdoor open for women who may have felt in danger... But I'm glad that many restaurants have decided to expand it to guys who were being taken to the cleaners just over a meal.

If the girl is interested, she'll find a way to make it work. All those excuses means she's not interested.

The 3rd story feels like she'd fantasized about emotionally damaging people, but when most of the guys started learning she was doing that, her dating pool dried up, so she picked a guy and tried to make it work, and when that inevitably failed because she had no idea how to keep an emotionally stable relationship afloat, she probably started running down the list of people who had taken her back before. Also, the fact that OP's mom gave her his number is a bit sad. Who the hell would want their son reconnect with such a toxic person when they're already married? Hopefully said mom feels bad and never does that again.
Story 8 - She was definitely going to try and baby trap him. And even if she wasn't, she was going to force him to pay for child support because it's very unlikely someone that reckless and irresponsible is going to be a "good mom". She might've pulled it off, but folks, getting a kid is NOT a solution to ANY romantic or emotional problems you have.

I’ll need to list all my dating fails. Half were from my misspent youth and the rest from after I was widowed. Married 31 years. I could write a book! And the ones after my husband passed are the really funny ones! Reply if you want them. Cringe does not begin to describe my senior dating life. And yes, some involve sex. I’m old but not dead.

Most of the stories are just bad, not humiliating. I reckon, people who done got humiliated tend to not trauma dump.

1st story... It's interesting that so many people keep saying that we should stop playing the race card and stop being victims.. but when it further the agenda of black people being dangerous or savage... It's okay to make sure to promote their ethnicity.
    Which is it?

    • @dragonfliesnh4204

I agree. I have no idea what their race has anything to do with the story as it had nothing to do with it! If it was that important, why didn't OP mentioned their own race/skin color or the girl's they were interested in? I bet they were both white...
When I hear things in the news and the people in the story aren't white, they almost always mention the person's race and/or skin color. If they are white, they don't mention it. It pisses me off when people feel the need to point it out when it has nothing to do with the topic or story!

The true pandemic of our age is narcissism.
These people could stand before God himself and still believe their own lies.

  • @dragonfliesnh4204
    @dragonfliesnh4204 Před měsícem +1

What did the men's race have anything to do with the first story?? If that was important, why didn't they mention the race of the girl they were interested in or even themselves? I bet they were both white...
When things are mentioned in the news for things that may be crime or court related, we usually hear the description of someone's skin color or their race when they aren't white. If the criminal is white, they don't mention it.
