Yes, the water you need is right there in the date water. This is the biggest thing I forget. I make soup stock intending to put it in eveything, and then I forget and put water in my dry rice or pasta or tomato paste.
You are the only youtuber who is a inspiration in all aspects....every thing you post is lovable ......and you are so real man just be like that always ....you are just awesome.đđđđđ€
Start with mirepoix, sauteed long enough for the carrots to soften, and the onions caramelise, adding minced garlic three minutes before the onions are done. Then do the rest, minus the onion and garlic powders. Also, adding balsamic vinegar to the mirepoix makes magick. You can (should) also add diced bell (especially orange) peppers with the garlic. My sauce is the best you've never had. I can make shoe leather taste like Memphis fine dine. Vegan leather, of course. Preferably minus the nasty foot.
As a 19 years old young adult, I developed hypochondria last year, they ruined my days and sleep. Nausea, palpitations, constipation, anxious feeling and fear daily. My anxiety levels are going to normal these days, and I am gradually becoming "better" and "normal" recently. After watching your videos, you inspired to eat cleaner, healthier, and just better. Unfortunately, I still eat meat, but definitely cleaner than before. I cut out KFC, McDonald's, pizzas, and just all kinds of junk food. I ate much more veges and fruits and did incorporate your recipe once in awhile. I do not smoke and drink at all and will never touch them. I just want to thank you for your videos, and pls do more of them. Love from Vancouver Richmond : )
I had the same too, i had hypochondira and ocd. Breathe. Change your diet, check the people you surround yourself with, check your self talk and practice meditation or any form of mindfulness. Force your focus on constructive things.(reading, studying, cleaning, singing) It gets better gradually if you are consistent. I went from paranoia and vomitting stomach juice every other minute during my run and gagging on every metro station to not have the sensation or need to vomit any more.
Pro zero waste tip here: that cup of water you added after blending the sauce, add it to the blender AFTER emptying it and then shake it to get all of that remaining sauce out.
Just made the non-cooked version of this and added a couple of huge handfuls of sunflower seeds and a bit more water and ended up with a creamy BBQ sauce! SO GOOD!
This reminds me of when i made enchilada sauce. I discovered that it's basically just a bunch of peppers. Just throw a bunch of chili, paprika and cayenne in some vegetable stock with spices and i think there was a tomato somewhere in there... i can't remember because i didn't write it down... but it was good.
I made your recipe this morning. I don't have liquid smoke so I doubled the smoked paprika as you suggested. I saved the water from the soaked organic Mejooled dates and used the measured amount as you suggested. I use BBQ sauce with raw almonds. I coat about 1 cup at a time then microwave in a glass bowl for a minute. I stir the almonds and put back in the microwave for another minute. I watch so that the sauce doesn't burn. When the almonds make a popping sound I definitely stop. Then I put them on a plate to cool. I bag them up & give as gifts. My family loves them. Up until now, I have not been able to find a BBQ sauce that was tangy enough without high fructose corn syrup. Your recipe will work. I could even add some Sriracha for extra heat. BBQ sauce works on raw walnuts, pecans, etc. BTW, I love you & Crystal. You 2 are a great team. Keep up the great work.
You have no ideia how much youâve been helping me with all your recipe videos (and also your videos about your lifestyle). It has been a few months now that Iâm vegan and Iâm feeling so good! Thanks for all! Hugs from Brazil đ§đ·

You're so right about store bought BBQ sauces - they are full of salt, preservatives and they are pricey. If ever you don't have dates, you can use maple syrup!
Thank you SO much. Was going to ask what brand healthy to buy but empowering to make our own healthy food! Thanks for everything- life changing for me!
Yes! Every time I use barbeque sauce, even homemade, I hate the idea of so much sugar. This is an exciting recipe; it goes into my recipe box along with the queso!
Looks awesome, definitly gonna give it a try! I used to make some bbq sauce myself. I added one piece of dark chocolate or a tbsp of cacao powder. It did make it very rich and gave a nice (darker) color to it. Give it a try! Greatings from Germany!! :)
I can't wait to try this recipe. I was thinking, why couldn't you use the water used to soak the dates? Someone else made a great comment. Put the water into the blender after you've spooned it out? Put the blender on mix and you will get every drop out. That's actually how I clean my blender. Fill it with hot water a tiny drop of soap. Put it on mix, a quick rinse and it's clean! Another tip, when reducing the sauce use a double boiler. It's the bomb to keep things hot without worrying about your product from burning.
I saw a video that you posted a year ago about what do vegans eat find out in my kitchen. I decided that starting tomorrow Tuesday after Labor Day that Iâm going to make a switch for two weeks to see if I can handle going vegan. My concern is going to be more protein and also transitioning off beef chicken and pork. Iâm very excited because at 47 years old I know that I want to clean out my system and at the same time have better skin stronger bones and most importantly, loose weight!! I am nervous and yet excited for the journey thatâs ahead of me. I did subscribe and I also hit the bell so that way I can be on top and not fall back. One of my weakest problems is processed foods especially like pizza so Iâm hoping that I would be able to find tricks to help fight the urge .
Oooh, yeah! I will so make this! BBQ sauce is my favorite condiment! Iâm thinking Derek, what if we sliced potatoes really thin, watered down the sauce a little and brushed it on and baked or air fried them as homemade BBQ chips? đ Thanks for your latest creation!! â€ïžđ±â€ïž
Absolutely LOVE these make it at home recipe videos. I can totally scale down your recipe so I only make what I need and itâs SO much healthier đđđđ

I'm so glad you made this recipe. My boyfriend and I bought a 5 kilo box of dates for the first time and I thought we would go through them faster. Perfect as we buy mangos by the box of 6 đ
Made this for the first time today. Modified it a bit. I didn't have molasses, so I used sorghum. I added more water as we like our sauce a little more runny. Turned out AMAZING! Going to make bbq lentils to go over brown rice. I'll probably serve with a big salad. Thanks for all you do!
Hey Derek! Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate how you test the recipes multiple times before making a video to give us the best recipes. I know a lot of youtubers who don't. Now I can save some time on experimenting with recipes, because I know you already did it for us đ
I had to make a few changes because I didnât have everything on the list, but this was RIDICULOUSLY good! The apple cider really sets it off with the bite. I didnât have dates on hand, so I used pure maple syrup as the sweetener. Thank you for sharing!

Kind of late to the party but . . . I tried this recipe. Delicious!!! I didn't follow the measurement exactly but pretty close. There was still tomato paste in my can so I used it all. Probably an extra tbs or so. I tossed in an extra date bc I like it sweet and my spices were mostly closer to heaping than scant! As he said, it was delish as is and better cooked. Oh, I was doubtful about that amount of smoke but had enough ingredients to dbl the recipe if it was too much. 12, though, was just right! Def thumbs up!

If you soak several cups of dates then the water is BOMB. Makes the most incredible cashew milk.
1 c date water
2 c water
1 c cashews
