  • These are simply delightful and a classic English food. Make them for yourself/friends & family and let me know what you think. A crumpet is a type of griddle cake, they are famous for all the tiny holes, that allow the butter to soak into the middle. A Pikelet is similar but made with no mold.
Thankyou Warburtons for sharing your recipe, I hope this video shows your crumpet at its best.

1/2 tsp
1/2 tsp
1 tsp
1 tsp
    Ingredients
    150g plain white flour
    200ml water
    ½ tsp sugar
    ½ tsp salt
    1tsp baking powder
    1 tsp dried yeast
    Instructions
Into a large bowl place flour, water, and salt and whisk this for 5min.
With a little extra water mix yeast and then add to the main bowl.
Add the sugar and baking powder to the bowl and mix together until your batter is smooth.
Cover with a cloth and place in a warm place for 15min.
Heat up a non-stick frying pan low-medium heat.
Place 4Tbsp of the mixture into a greased mold or non-stick mold or line with baking paper.
Enjoy watching the bubbles appear and once it is dry on top remove the mold and flip over to cook on the other side for only 30sec. (slight browning).
Place them onto a cooling rack.
The best way to eat them is to pop them into your toaster and when they come out then place your butter onto the crumpet and allow to soak into all the holes.
Store them in an airtight container or in your freezer. (They won’t last long!) Because they are so quick to make I just make them fresh on the morning
The only dilemma you have now is what to eat them with
    a. Just Butter
    b. Strawberry jam
    c. Marmite
    d. Other?

Hi I need advice. I tried making these but they never get dry ontop. First 3 got golden on the bottom but ended up raw inside after 9 mins, second set of 3 at a slightly higher temp burned on the bottom while still being undercooked inside. The tops never got dry looking
