To confirm, it's *8 grams (2 teaspoons)* of baking powder, *as written the ingredients and measurements list in the video description and the subtitles* - not 2 tablespoons, as I said in the voiceover! I think I did this voiceover late one night!! Oops! 😹
OMG! I love Crumpets, it's not a thing restaurants offer around here, but they should. I first had these at a friend from the UK's house, and I fell in love with them. Now I can make my own, I never thought about making these, I don't know why. Great video!
Just butter, Vegemite and butter, peanut butter and butter, golden syrup and butter. Here in NZ you can buy them in a packet of 6 round ones, or square ones
An Australian viewer suggested I try golden syrup and butter on my crumpets. It's not a combination I've tried before, but it was **delicious!!** My new favourite topping is whipped maple butter! I'll have to try your suggestion of peanut butter next time!! Thanks for the tip! 💖😻
HONEY and butter! That's what I've always put on my crumpets, which I've always been able to buy at any grocery store here in Vancouver BC, Canada! I love them. I'm going to try making your recipe; it looks so delicious. Thanks!
Oh yeah! Honey on crumpets is delicious!! I'm not sure why my husband said crumpets aren't available in Canada in the group; I ate them all the time when growing up in Niagara!! 😹 Let me know how you get on with my recipe! I'd love to know what you think of these! 💖😻
I love crumpets! We have them here but I would enjoy making them fresh this looks easy! Thanks you so much! I love lots of butter and depending maybe some jam❤️🐱
Mr. Editor is obsessed with crumpets! Like you, he loves his crumpets covered in butter and a jam - usually raspberry or strawberry! You are so welcome, Carol! 💖😻
Yummy 🤤 Who doesn't enjoy a bit of Crumpet 😉 especially when it comes pan sized. Love the different shapes. We had Australia shaped crumpets for 'Australia Day' 🇦🇺 a few years back. Never thought to make crumpets at home and if I do they'll have to be GF. I did watch the Hairy Bikers making a batch some time ago, pre Convid! Peanut butter and honey is my favourite crumpet topping, followed by peanut butter and Blackberry jam. Golden syrup has always been another favourite on top of butter. Grilled cheese is also good. Btw Daniella, did you try a crumpet with golden syrup? Thanks for the recipe. Cheers 👍🤤😀
Australia shaped crumpets sounds like a great way to celebrate Australia Day! It's Canada Day a few days time; I wish I had a Canada shaped cookie cutter! I'll be making poutine for dinner to celebrate, and maybe some butter tarts too! Ooh, Peanut butter and honey sounds like a great combination! I usually just have butter on mine, but sometimes I'll add a strawberry or raspberry jam! If I'm feeling decadent, Nutella is nice too!! I did try golden syrup on a crumpet! It was delicious!! It's not a topping I ever thought of putting on a crumpet, so thank you for the suggestion!! 😻😻
@@BlackCatKitchen Excellent! I'm happy you tried Golden Syrup on your crumpet🤤👍 A Canada shaped cookie cutter would be difficult to make unless you have bending skills in metal. I've made shapes from cut up aluminium cans. It's joining the ends that's a hassle. An industrial strength stapler comes in handy for that job. Then you have to protect your hands from being lacerated by the sharp as razor aluminium when pressing out the shapes. Sticky tape works well. The Poutine sounds great. Something I have yet to experience. Getting cheese curds isn't easy unless you know a boutique cheese maker or Miss Muffet...🤔 🕷️.

You said 2 TBLS but the recipe says 2 TSP of baking powder. Did I hear you wrong? I'm fallowing along while making this. Will use 2 TSP Bcuz that's what's in the recipe. I'm excited to taste these. I've never heard of them. SW Missouri, USA❤
@@lunabeta3516 - Oh, that's wonderful! I'm so glad you and your mom loved them!! You've got me craving them now; I'm going to have to go and make some! 💖😻
They're actually quite different! Crumpets are made with a thick, pancake-like batter and proper English muffins are a dough. Once baked, the crumpets will have distinctive holes across the top, which allows your toppings to seep inside! Crumpets also taste more yeasty. A crumpet is served whole, whereby you spread your topping on top. Most people spread butter, jam, Nutella or peanut butter on them. An English muffin is cut in half and filled with ingredients, or served open faced with toppings e.g. eggs Benedict. Hope that helps! 💖😻
I've made English muffins! 💖 It's a very similar recipe to English muffins, but the method is quite different! To make muffins, you have to knead the dough and then cut out your circular pieces. For crumpets, the mixture is a wet batter, which is then poured into the crumpet rings. Muffins you bake on both sides, whereas a crumpet is mainly baked on one side. Crumpets also incorporate baking powder, which helps provide the characteristic holes in the top! A muffin is bread-like, and you slice it in half to fill. A crumpet is spongier, pancake-ish, and is served whole. You usually toast it and spread butter across it, along with a jam, if you fancy! 😻😻
To confirm, it's *8 grams (2 teaspoons)* of baking powder, *as written the ingredients and measurements list in the video description and the subtitles* - not 2 tablespoons, as I said in the voiceover! I think I did this voiceover late one night!! Oops! 😹
