Johnny Carson was a class act, not like other assholes that tried to tear him down!! Rick was the real deal and insanely talented as a musician and singer!! He helped many struggling musicians back in the day!! Love ricks music!!
Sam and I are about the same age. We're about nine months apart. I was ten and a half when Rick died. That was the day the music died in our home. My mother spent the day weeping. It is a day that I will never forget. It was like a family member had died!
Rick Nelson lived up the street from me in Studio City..he was a, kind humble man. He died way too early...his career was headed towards more stardom...he would have owned Vegas...Garden Party is a classic..Elvis was king, but Rick was the crown prince.
I was born on Rick Nelson's birthday the year after this interview. He was so funny! Years later, I got all "googly eyed" over his sons Matthew and Gunnar.
So shocking that it almost didn't seem real, he was too young & so talented. His sons are helping to keep his music & memory alive. They sound so much like him too .

He was a good guy, that's why I am shocked that he stood by and watched his management completely lie and screw over Allen Kemp, Stephen Love and Pat Shanahan from the Stone Canyon Band. It was a disgrace, can't believe Rick let that happen to three awesome musicians who helped his sound immensely. That band was never as good from that point on.
@@ranman5491 I really don’t think he knew! He was also getting screwed, too, but he didn’t even know till later! How could he have done anything then? Ozzie used to watch out for Rick. Rick wasn’t the savvy financial guy his dad was, though he inherited lots of talent. If Rick had known, he surely would’ve made sure they had gotten all that was coming to them! Just as he put Bruce in his place here for trashing his brother, Dave. I’m probably wasting my time with a damn troll! No one had a bad word to say about Rick who’d worked with him. SMH.
Rick Nelson, seemed so unaffected by his good looks and fame which made him very likeable. He seemed very down to earth, not taking himself too seriously. I think all teenage girls in the 1950's had a crush on him! I remember playing "Poor Little Fool" over and over on my little portable 45rpm record player.
What a funny clip! Thanks this was great to see! ♥️ Bruce Dern, interviewed for promoting his movie Posse?! Bruce & Rick looked great! Both great actors! And I loved Rick’s stories & Johnny’s & How Dern’s Dirty Shirts we’re playing Rick’s team! This is a really fun interview! And now Matthew has his little boy, Ozzie, who is about 6!
His wife at the time was Mark Harmon's sister. So his kids aunt and uncle are Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber. His two sons extended the family tradition of number one records. Ozzie and Harriet had a number one in the big ban era, Rick had several number ones and his twins had a couple of number ones. Only family to do that.
Just to embellish a bit -- Ricky Nelson had 25 Top Ten hits over the course of his career, was a multimedia star from age 8 to age 45, and was probably the biggest rock 'n' roll singer in the world for several years circa late '50s and early '60s.
It would have been better if Jonny did not continually interrupt Rick I met and spoke with Gunner and Matthew at a concert here in upstate NY. They are the most pleasant, personable young men.
Gone too soon Rick. What happened? The DC-3 was such a dependable airplane. That crash should have never happened! RIP Rick, you were a great entertainer.
Rick is hilarious. I'm still a fan of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet! It's just so sad when I think about how his ex-wife treated him and how he passed. It breaks my heart, man.
He was Such a a Cool guy and Down to earth I'm sure it wasn't easy growing up on TV And with Ozzie as a dad I'm sure he expected a lot out of his boy's . I read somewhere they didn't receive much money for the 14 years they worked on TV .
Check out that great head of hair. The 4 th child is Sam He's not mentioned in Wikipedia bio. And Rick and Kris were actually getting separated at this time and shortly after divorced. It was a long costly battle.....
@@dsoule4902 I wasn't ever aware that the internet played any part in dysfunctional relationships... It was custody of Sam they fought over and neither won in the end...

A very , no…..extremely decent chap - modest , self effacing , hugely talented and successful chap who kept a level head . A pity that those making up the majority , following on , in the music and acting business, either failed to meet his standards or simply were and are incapable of even attempting to meet his values. Met Rick at a club in North Hollwood. Real pretty blue eyes. Friendly but very shy

I totally agree!
I disagree. Johnny Cash was the king.
TRAGIC LOSS DEPRESSING.....
I remember him on TV as a boy,he always was low key,you can see from his later years that he is really humble, you are right
He certainly was. I love and miss him so much
Rick was a class act...
Beautiful Ricky Nelson what a humble beautiful soul very good looking Johnny was the best so real bless them both 🙏❤️❤️❤️
I was born on Rick Nelson's birthday the year after this interview. He was so funny! Years later, I got all "googly eyed" over his sons Matthew and Gunnar.
They'll never be anyone else like Rick Nelson. Tragic end to a GREAT talent. I still listen to his music
Amen His wife had a lot of problems and really brought Rick Down too bad some relationships can be Soo toxic
I always liked Rick, it was such a shock when he died in that plane crash.

had so much corisema.

One of my favorite songs
was "No You Don't Know Me".
He had a great voice for ballads.
@@GDavin Yes, he had such a nice voice...and thanks to CZcams, I found his version of "No, You Don't Know Me"

Bruce sorta reminds me of Rick.
He even starred beside John Wayne. That alone makes him a legend.
And Dean Martin...
Dang them. He was a star on his own.
Rio Bravo, John, Dean, and Rick and Angie D,awesome film.
On Prime T V.
Thank you for dating this interview💙
Ricky Nelsen was so good looking so are his 3 sons💘💘

Love this
Great Hair! Rick could have also made a fortune just endorsing hair care products!
Thank you!
Why don't we hear much of Sam? And photos of he and Tracey.
Great interview

Rick seemed like a cool guy.
@lindyloftin Happy to share with you!
I grew up watching Ricky but didn't appreciate his talent. I just thought it was a TV show.
@hsmgeek4ever It's a favorite of mine, glad you enjoyed :)
His appearance and his voice reminds me a little of Jim Morrison...
Just Talk He definitely could've played Jim in the movie.
I never thought of that but yes, I agree.
He looks and sounds nothing like Morrison.

Does anybody know if there is a DVD of the concert in Madison Square Garden in Oct. 15 1971, where Rick performed?
Excellent question.
He was a talented man who died too soo.
if you are going to play a garden party i wish you a lot of luck
@1RNgirl Glad you enjoyed :)
Rick Nelson resembles my dad a lot.
Heather Chantel so your dad's a stone cold fox?
Please post pix
What's his number? Asking for a friend
Honestly, Him and my dad truly favored as well. I guess it's the Nelson name, ancestry from Sweden.

He sort of looks like Rick.
I always think Captain America (Chris Evans) could play Ricky Nelson in a movie. Something about his eyes ! Blessings from California. 🦜
I hate how he died before I was even born
IMO, Rick looks eerily similar here, to John Fogerty.
