I love these houses. The best thing about them is they were built by people who were proud to put the effort into building a house that was practical and comfortable to live in as well as durable
I owned a 1913 Arts and Crafts home in Southern California for 10 years. Hands down most spectacular home I ever lived in. I miss it still.
Arts and crafts homes are my favorite, all the wood, the minimal look, even the small homes are little gems
The steps are to die for...the color especially...thank God they took that white paint off!!!!
I must say, no matter what period style house you are reviewing, your passion for the architecture and craftsmanship cannot be beat
Needs a Tiffany lamp in the entry! Charming.
Thank you both so much for showing us these houses. Ive learned SO much and have a greater appreciation and understanding for these homes. You both are particularly skilled at showcasing these homes, even the ones that need a little TLC (unlike this turn key) , with such grace that I can feel, hear, and see the lives that have lived in these properties. Oddly perhaps, it brings me peace knowing that living life isn't new and there's nothing to be afraid of. Sure, hard times will come, but they will also pass, as they did for all the people who've built and lived in these houses.
Breath taking...imagine that Sears actually sold Arts and Crafts houses through their catalog
My grandparents lived in one. The woodwork was amazing.
My husband and I were lucky to have owned a confirmed Sears Kit House when we lived in Elgin, IL. It was the Columbine model and was one of about 200 Sears homes in that city. I loved that house and if I could have moved it with us, I would have.
dozens of builders sold pre cuts such as this
I lived in a 1945 pre cut in Richland , WA. Not nearly as charming
My ultimate dream home!!!
$339,000.00 ! Where I live you can add a 1, before the 3 That's gorgeous!
Here too! My house is half the square footage and still needs a lot of work and we paid $475,000 last year.
You kept saying the tiger oak is really rare and yet this property is really going for a song. It's gorgeous but it'd have to be shipped over to the UK
Love walking through these homes with y'all.
This home has a stunning entryway. I think it's an amazing example of the beauty of the Craftsman period. Many Craftsman homes will use stained oak cabinetry in the kitchen, so the white was an interesting choice. I appreciate the care and time the owners took in this home.
Yes, it is so open and welcoming.
I love these tours, they are educational and inspirational and at the same time relaxing 😎
Arts and Crafts, bungalows and four squares are my absolute favorites. Just a gorgeous, gorgeous home. Thank you for showing it. I really am in love!
Mine too! 💜💜💜
I adore any old home, from medieval castles through arts and crafts homes. It’s kind of hard to pick a favorite but I do seem to have a real soft spot for craftsman. 🥰🥰
Such a lovely restoration of a magnificent home. Thank you for sharing
Wavy glass is called “Hand drawn glass” as it was poured into a mould and drawn over (scraped) with a piece of timber with notches cut to size to ensure even thickness.
My goodness! What a steal, at that price! ❤️😊
Thanks for the tour!
Hi Kevin! 😁
Hi Kevin!
Love these houses! You look as fresh as a daisy Laine ❤
Laine, I got my tiger oak sideboard at a yard sale for $35 in 1995. It "had good bones" but I had to completely refinish every square inch. It just glows now. Then came the tiger oak bureau free on the side of the road...painted pink, black and white. It became our daughter's in her nursery...How is it possible that so many people don't love it???? In my dreams I have a Craftsman Tiger Oak Library....sigh.....it's probably just as well, as nobody would ever see me again! LOVE, LOVE your tours and your amazing work. Thank you!
I could watch you show houses all day! lol Thanks for the tour. Now I want to see what's under all the paint on the doors in our 125 year old house!
Wow that's my kind of house. Beautiful!
Gorgeous!! And you included the closets and basement! Now let’s hope all the complainers are happy! 😂
😂😂😂
Gorgeous!!! 💖💜💖
WOW !!!!!!!!!! Beautiful !!!!
Absolutely beautiful. I have noticed, (and btw I think its brilliant,) a few houses with old sleeping porches you have shown, has laundry in that room. I like having a laundry room by the bedrooms. At least on same floor.
I love the combination of design + minimalism that arts and crafts style homes typically offer.
What a gorgeous house!! That house is perfect for my family but no way could we leave Louisiana. So I can only dream!!!
My parents live in Illinois and they restored a 1908 Victoria home. My parents put their the last 30 years into that house. My dad past away in 2018 and my mom, who is handicap, is try to keep the house up by herself with the help of my brother and sister. If you are interest in seeing a picture of the house let me know.
Please keep making more videos of restored houses! I just love the way you narrate each video!
I miss Louisiana so much!
Lovely! I can't imagine stripping all that paint. What a great job they did.
Oh my stars!! This gorgeous lady is awesome!! If it were located in Seattle rather than Little Rock, I'd be on it like a duck on a June bug!! Of course, if it were in Seattle, I couldn't touch it...it would be well over $1,000,00...more like $2,000,000 depending on what part of the city it was in. This house remains me a lot of the childhood home of my husband. We always wanted an Arts and Crafts beauty like this...she's spectacular...thanks for sharing.
Omg that basement is heavenly. A perfect spot to complete lots of art and other projects 😍
Arts and crafts is my favorite style! Absolutely gorgeous!
Beautiful home🥰❤️
Beautiful house! I like that the new bathrooms and kitchen were updated tastefully.
Beautiful home. Two of my favorite old home restoration people doing what they do best.
I’m not usually one for arts and crafts homes but this one is a GEM. Great tour!
Same Here! This is Magnificent & I would have never seen it. If I were looking for a home in this area I would have skipped over it because of the Craftsman Style not it's age! (Don't judge a book...) & That Price!
I love this style house. Gracious and thoughtfully design for daily living. Beautiful simple details. Have to say, something about the window boxes made me giddy! The current owners really did a nice job of honoring the house’s style.
Le Sigh… we used to party in a house like this while at IUP in the late 90s early 00s. At 18 I didn’t think much of it… Now that I’m older, my priorities have changed more than a bit
I want to buy all the homes they show! They are truly masterpieces! I keep telling my husband that I want a historical home…. Don’t think that’s going to happen so I’ll live vicariously through you guys!
Definitely someone’s dream come true home!! Only changes I would make are the bathroom and kitchen sinks. I like something more the old style that would be reminiscent of the original era! But wow! What space, you could raise 10 kids in this house! (They probably did!) Those were the days my friend!
Me too!!!
10:32 pm Thursday , loving the tours. Beautiful love love love the tours. Keep up the great work guys!
Oh how I love the Arts n Crafts houses. They had their own beauty. With all the tiger oak wood everywhere. I was def drooling a lot n wishing. I did notice , I didn’t see much of the it’s original craftsman lighting.
They have their own beauty just alone. I was amazed with the large closet. Thanks Laine n Kevin for sharing this beauty. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍
I love when you do these tours! But man..the prices are what really shock me.! That home would cost 1.2 million where I live. Makes me want to move there and get a beautiful home I could afford
Came here to say the same thing!
This would be closer to 5 million where I live!
Arts and Crafts is my FAVORITE!!
Love me an arts and crafts home! My grandparents had a beautiful one when I was growing up and it still has its original wood floors and most of its original woodwork molding. It had two additions added on, one being an informal living room off of the dining room but the original French doors were kept to separate the two spaces. I would absolutely love to live in one day
Great house tour. What a beautiful home - loved the fact that they preserved alot of the features of the home, especially all the tiger Oak woodwork. Thanks for showing us the house.
Beautiful tiger oak! Thank y’all for the tour!
I can't believe how stunning these homes are and the prices. Where I'm from 339,000 would get you a run down brick veneer or a tiny block maybe 500m2
Just amazing 😍
learning lots. thanks
Gorgeous house, terrific price
Doesn't matter what you're wearing, you always look stunning. Let's just see the house!!! I owned a four square Victorian in the belle grove historic district in fort Smith Arkansas years ago.
I just love your showings! I get so mesmerized with the videography and the way you describe in detail the features of a house. Thank you!
Absolutely stunning! My list of dream houses keeps growing! Thank you for all of your wonderful content 😊
It’s perfect. I was expecting the price to be way higher…
Little Rock..
What a bargain! Someone's going to have a delightful family home - I think A & C is my fav style so far as living goes. Thank you.
🏡... Beautiful, quirky, colorful! What a home!! Love these tours guys! 🥰
Don’t apologize for your wardrobe.
If people care that much about what you’re wearing, they have bigger problems to deal with.
Bravo! I was actually thinking that if you remembered from one week to the other, you must not have much of a life. Of course, they could be binge watching, but then your comment comes into play! lol
Brianna O'Duinn - Thanks! One shouldn’t concern oneself with someone who is so snobby that they look down their nose at someone who wears the same outfit in more than one video. Eye-roll x ♾. 😂
Thank you!!! I got absolutely SHREDDED a few videos back from daring to wear the same thing in two videos.
Our Restoration Nation - That’s ridiculous. People need to get a life.
2023.....I was pleased to find glass manufacturing companies making glass with the flaws we always used to see. Ripples, and other surface deviations. Modern windows no longer have those flaws. On-line, there are new glass sellers, that have a source of rippled, and wavy glass.
Stunnnnnnnningggggg
Beautiful home, and the few updates are done tastefully. Thank you for sharing.
This house is beautiful.
Wow. I thought you'd say "$675k"! Btw massive cudos to Kevin's EXCELLENT photography--the perspective is as if we're walking through with you and the pace is perfect! No vertigo or queasy tummies lol.
Ha Ha About the wardrobe.
You don’t have to apologize you always look great.
Your presentation is excellent.
This is called an edit but I’m simply adding now that I have watched. It seems like a very low price.for such a worthy place
Fantastic home!!! Thank you for sharing!!❤️
I love this house so much!! Totally my dream home!
Beautiful, love arts and craft homes
I wish it was mine!!!!
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I can afford the last zeros in the price, but that's all. 😁
Beautiful! Thank you for the tour. Enjoyed.
Wow! Just beautiful!👏💞
Just beautiful!!!
Beautiful home! Thanks for sharing!!
Gorgeous!
Beautiful home.
Very nice home. Thank you for sharing it!
Beautiful…thank you.
What you call "tiger oak" is quarter sawn white oak. The figuring is visible when sawn perpendicular to the heartwood. It's available still, but expensive.
Beautiful!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful 🏡
Beautiful house!!
was fun. beautiful!!
STUNNING! (I've got to find a new adjective, Laine), but what else can I say? In the family parlor and porch, were those... ASH TRAYS(?!) on the tables? Now there's an antique if I ever saw one. Hahahahaha............ At $335k, if we fed the dog and cat bagged, dry food for the rest of their lives and took shared showers to conserve water & heating electricity while limiting dining out to once a month... maybe we could afford this house. WOW! What a treasure. I can't wait to see your final product down in Monticello.
OH, one complaint. On the liquor table in the kitchen, I didn't see the accouterments to make my drink of choice - a Bombay Sapphire extra dry/extra dirty martini, shaken for forty-seconds and served in a frozen glass with three olives.
Keep it up, girl... you're killing me!! Carl
Gorgeous! I have a table and chairs made of tiger oak.
Love this property. It's no longer on the market though. The sellers removed the listing on Dec 12th after being reduced in price to $299,900 on Nov 2nd.
Many aspects of this home remind me of my parent’s home in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. I’d love to speak with someone regarding restoration, but I don’t know where to begin. It actually has some historic significance since the house was the original property of famed Victorian era explorer, Kate Marsden during here time living in Philadelphia.
Really! That's all? I was thinking $1.5 million. Guess I'm used to LA and Vegas prices.
Looks like they did a good job restoring it.
Beautiful house ❤❤😎😊
Love it💕
Uh, I do believe you can still get quarter sawn tiger oak, just have to look for it!!! Great house, thanks for the tour!!!
Yes you can it's called quartersawn white oak but it will cost $$$, also you will be hard pressed to find boards over 7 inches in width. It is usually reserved for fine furniture.
Wow, really a great one, wasn’t the work table in the basement cool? Loved the tour! 👍❤️👏👏👏👏
LOVE!!!!
Nix the blue paint on the 😊 front door!
I love the house but I’m also sorry that you feel the need to address your outfit. People are petty if your receiving comments about the way you look. You are a beautiful, knowledgeable and well spoken lady and I hope you know that. My husband and I really enjoy you guys channel.
OMG ! all that house for $339,000. My Arts and Crafts house was built in 1911 too,(2 bd, 1 bath, 1400sq. ft.) its in Los Angeles, Ca. its not nearly half as nice as this one, its valued at $1.4M. I am coming to Arkansas.
I got tiger oak. Oak is oak. Tiger oak is just oak cut a certain way. Our local lumber yard referred us to a restoration carpentry artist that does woodwork for historic homes. His pieces fit in perfectly with the originals, which was so nice since squatters had ruined so many of the original features.
We should have mentioned that in the video but never got around to it. So cool that someone is replicating that cut!
It merely quarter sawn . It's never stopped being produced.
Blessings
I'm going to break a lot of people's hearts and say I like the white painted wood better.
We have several Sears homes in our area
Why is Tiger Oak not available anymore? This home is beautiful.
Tiger oak is a way of cutting oak and it wastes a lot of wood. So nobody really does that anymore.
@@OurRestorationNation got it. I was just reading up on it.
Beautiful home - thank you for sharing. Was that a steam radiator I saw on the front porch?
I’m afraid I totally missed that.
