- Jonathan, Todd and Zach dive Devil's Eye Spring at Ginnie Springs in Florida to demonstrate what high flow caves are like. And then they check out Devil's Ear, with weird swirling colors where the tannic Santa Fe River water meets the clear water from the spring.
WARNING! Cave Diving is extremely dangerous and should only be undertaken by divers with the proper equipment and training. This video is for entertainment purposes only and should not be considered “instructional” in any way. The dive team that produced this video is fully cave certified with years of experience.

I've been to Devil's Eye! I was only snorkeling, but it was still cool. It's so awesome to see the inside of those caves. The first cavern dive I ever did was at Ginnie Springs! It gave me a glimpse at what cave diving can be like and it was awesome.
My first cavern was Ginnie as well, way back in 2001.
Just getting into snorkeling and what not thinking about stopping by next week! Any advice? Oh and which ones better or can I do both in one day??
@@BlueWorldTV really?
Swimming through your own bubbles looks so surreal! And the two different colour waters mixing is incredible! Amazing that you can do so many cave dives and each one is a totally unique experience. Keep up the great work Birdman and flock 😁👍
Thanks!
Wow that was an amazing episode, I didn't expect many interesting things to happen after you've left the cave but the bubbles and the different colored water were even cooler than the cave itself.
Yeah, the cool colors are Devil's Ear are one of the attractions of the site.
@@BlueWorldTV is there any dangers there?
@@BlueWorldTV very nice video ..... Sir 🙏
This is some of the highest production quality content on CZcams(And very entertaining). Amazing what is put out for free these days. Thank you Jonathan!
Well, we hope lots of people watch so we make some revenue too!
I was about to say the same thing. they should get more views
I've tried but I can only hold my breath for so long! Been going to ginnie springs since I was 10 and till this day is a place I take my kids! Awesome video!
Watching your videos give me nostalgia feel because the intro you use are a lot like shows during the early 2000's and I love it! its relaxing and helps me when I'm working
The cinematography was once again amazing and the cave was wonderful and the water was so clear! Awesome video!
Thanks!!
Did some free diving here at ginnie springs! Can’t wait to get dive certified and go explore these beautiful caves
Amazing footage, I loved the bubbles rising from the ceiling of the cave.
Amazing video Jonathan!! I missed your videos so much!!
So glad to see yall giving some love to the Sante Fe river springs. Never knew the bubble coming up were from diver deep below, makes sense now. Used to always see a few when swimming but those areas are usually either full of swimmers or diver, rarely both due to crowds on the benches.
I've been watching BlueWorldTV for years now and it gets better every video
Ah! Finally! A new episode. Been waiting for this one. 😇😍
Wow. Ginnie looks amazing as always. Beautiful shot of the Gallery in the beginning. I so wish i was there...
Thank you Blue World team!
That is so awesome. Hope that you enjoyed the diving in devils eye and devils ear. Im trully inspired by your effort and diving explorations that from when i was 8 i statred watching you and from then to now i wanna becoma a diver, just like you are one. Truly amazin video. Great work guys.
Thanks!
I love those shots at 8:50 - 9:20!! I've always wondered about the air bubbles you exhale in caves since that's a big oversight and that's a very good shot with the sunlight and the green contrast!
Interesting to see the different colored waters swirl together. Your soundtrack guy did a super great job on this one.
We really love the slide guitar music in this one!
Thanks J.A.! Love scoring Blue World.
One of my favorite vids from your channel! Never been there but it seems so surreal diving through all those bubbles!
All the fish!!! Wow! Beautiful!
Thank you so much! For letting us to be a part of your world! Your videos are usually my way to get off my mind of a busy and a stressful day!
I'm so glad!
Thanks for the high quality videos the footage is beautiful and the explanations that you give. I'm glad to come across a channel where you guys respect the actual Nature rather than do the usual youtube clickbait and crazy things like break things for views.
Its such a interesting and unique place. Great video!
Another great Florida adventure! The devils ear was so cool!
I’ve been living in Southern California. I’ve been in Florida, Miami, Key west, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Cape Canaveral along with lovely Coco Beach…, done a tour of Ride in swamp, etc. But! I’ve never been Devil’s Eyes diving spots! What a shame… It’s added to the list of my bucket list definitely ✊😍💙 so Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video ❤️💚👍
Thank you for sharing!!
I dove in Devil's Ear in 1985 for my cavern diving class. Thanks for the video.
You guys are the best canal o youtube!!!
love your videos mr Jonathan bird
So awesome!
It always makes me feel so honored when I realize how my dad introduced me to such amazing places as a child, and I didn’t even know it. He was a diver and would take us to all these springs where we would swim and canoe the Santa Fe. Only now as an adult do I realize how cool he was and we were ❤️
Dads rock!!! :-)
My dad was a cave diver. We hit the springs every weekend that him and his dive buddies could get away. From ages 8-15 I experienced swimming/snorkeling/diving at 28 different springs in Fla in late 70's early 80's.
Many of them back then were off the beaten path- and completely unregulated- accessed by a long walk through the woods carrying equipment. These videos really take me back to those times. Amazing.
Wow that "Carbonated" effect looked so cool! That brown water is scary looking haha
Wow that water is crystal clear. Stunning
This is really good, and seeing thsi channel again was an honor of mines
I love it there one of my favorite spots I’m lucky to live so close to these wonders I can wait to get down there
I grew up in FL, spending ages 2-10 in Suwanee county (late 80s and 90s). We went to swim and snorkel in the springs so many times. Those waters are some of the best in the world. The Santa Fe is a great river too! It's always so neat to go from the cold, clear spring water to the brown, warm river water!
I finally got my OW Oct 2020 and AOW 1 year later. My wife did the training with me. I have always wanted to dive, but it didn't work out until recently. My 10 year old is now getting her OW in a couple months, then off to the keys for some diving fun!
I don't know if I will ever do cave training, but I do want to get trained on doubles and/or sidemount sometime.
So great to hear!
I hope I can eventually get cave certified. These cave systems look beautiful
Can’t believe your content is free amazing as always
Glad you enjoy it!
That is so cool! Great video
Glad you liked it!
Images are so clear and beautiful. Amazing camera (and Light)work! 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much 😀
Wow those cave were very beautiful
Great Video, thank you!

I absolutely love your videos!
Thanks for watching!!!!
I have never been to Devils Spring, but I can't wait to see the pretty view underwater
This is amazing.... Thank you for this! Greetings from Serbia(Ex Yugoslavia)
Greetings!
9:20 - He just had to get on camera!! Great vid guys.
Waw . O My God. 🌍🌍🌍🌍
Very Amazing performance.
Thank
Great video, I live about 15 minutes from this spring. We have the largest concentration of fresh water springs in the WORLD!
Just one of the many reasons that divers love Florida!
Amazing video 🥰🥰🥰🥰
amazing video!! Can’t wait to dive again. Too cold in New Hampshire:(
Are you kidding me! Pierce Island is great nudibranch territory and the Isle of Shoals is great for seals! Plenty of great NH diving!
Been freediving in the devils springs 2 times and it's amazing, the ginnie ballroom cave down the road is also a very fun dive with not near as strong as a current. I'd suggest next time you visit you check that out too 🤙🔥
Very nice video sir.......😇
Amazing! I would like to do this when im older!
Just got done snorkeling here yesterday. It's unbelievable!!!
👍 Been There, Done That. Dang Interesting. More so Devil's Ear. Post dive there back many years ago a massive Alligator surfaced right at my elbow. Interesting. Beached now, Thanks for the memories. Best
fantastic video... u guys always pick the best music to set atmosphere into your videos. and ahhghahghaoghga those caves!!!! terrifying!! love them!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
We don't just pick the music....we are probably one of the only CZcams channels that has every episode custom scored by our talented composer Bruce Zimmerman.
Here is a video about him.

Hey YipYip! I'm the composer of Blue World. Glad you like the music I write for each episode.
it's like your flying !
Love these videos I would literally die to do this
Nice dive!👍
I had the same experience in Dahab, Egypt. It was magical
Just came from ginnie springs... and ill tell you one thing you dont get from these cool diving videos is the crazy ear pressure lmao.. i yook small freedive in the ginnie springs and i came back real quick my ears were not doing great lol.
Gotta clear 'em early and often!
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
Beautiful
Such a cool place !! I want to get my cave certification so badly
I love it
My favourite spring in the world.... which I will probably never get to see. South Africa is a loooonnnngggg way off. Lola xoxo
I’ve been there, what a awesome dive! It was loaded with people floating the river.
Woww man…groovy! ✌️
LOL!
In a perfect world you guys could take Mr.Ballen with you haha!
Wow 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Beautiiful cave
Cool
Hey Johnathan! Went and saw Ancient Caves at the Omni Max Theater here at the Cincinnati museum center with my Mom. It was very well done and loved your contribution. Hope all is well! Safe travels man!
So glad to hear you saw it!!! the Cincinnati Omni is one of the best IMAX theaters in the world, you picked a great place to see it.
@@BlueWorldTV I've been going to the Omni since I was a little kid, truly amazing experience.
Just missed y’all again - was there two weeks ago exploring the cave! Great video.
To be fair, we shot this more than a year ago. We have to release the cave diving segments slowly, otherwise we will become Jonathan Bird's Cave Diving Channel.
@@BlueWorldTV I wouldn’t complain! But totally understand😂
Man You Go Swimming in the most clearest water I’ve ever seen you are so lucky
Florida rocks!
It really does. The number of segments we have shot in Florida is staggering.
i am getting my scuba certification in june! cant wait
Congratulations!
"I've never really done a high flow cave..."
Jackson Blue and Little River: "Am I a joke to you?"
So, when we did Little River, there was hardly any flow for some reason. And we actually shot this episode BEFORE the Jackson Blue episode, even though Jackson Blue was released first. So this actually was my first "high flow" cave experience!
@@BlueWorldTV Your technique in the Jackson Blue video certainly is much better than here in Ginnie. But Little River is best when the flow is flow, you just don't have as many places to hide from the flow in LR. I was there just before it went under a couple of weeks ago, it was awesome being able to get to the end of the Florida Room without a scooter.
1:33 Ohhh what a wonderful "Blue World Van" you got there. its matches well with your YT colors
Yeah, we showed up at the car rental place and they said "pick a van" so we grabbed the only blue one. Pretty, right???
@@BlueWorldTV mmmhmm
Never been to Ginny springs it is on my wish list, but I have dove the Devils Den.
This camera much better than my eyes. When i go under water
we were just in this area but I didn't get a chance to dive this, looks amazing!
It really is an awesome diving location. This video gives you a taste of what someone who is cave certified would experience. However, Ginnie also has some very nice sites that are open to all levels of divers.
@@Saxatillis thank you, I'm not cave certified but it would be cool to check out the surrounding area.
I start my first class on 9th so pumped.
Woo hoo!!
Wow! I was told the flow was down, but I didn't realize it was THIS down.
Canoeing its river system is amazing!! Becareful, there are some BIG gators in them thar waters!!
try a goblin shark video
Time to check how much PTO I have and book another camping weekend at ginnie.
Love the video. Typically how many open water dives are recommended before starting cave dive training? I know trim and buoyancy are paramount so this probably varies from person to person. Just curious if there is a general guideline
I heard it was 300 dives I believe
If you go the channel “dive talk” they have a video going over it(super good video)
I got scuba certified when I was 13. I think caves are a whole different category
Most agencies require at least 100 dives. Beyond that it's more about where you are with your fundamental skills; Buoyancy, trim, propulsion, and breathing. Those 4 should be second nature prior to beginning cave training. If you even have to think about them you're not quite ready.
@@bryangreeley842 any idea what the title of that video is? I went looking at Dive Talk and didn’t find this video.
Wow amazing, when you went to the "ear" and found that brown stuff, is that "ear wax"? 😁
Yes, it is! LOL
Wow I was just here 2 weeks ago
아.. 그리운 지니스프링..
24년 11월에 다시만나자
Thanks Jonathan. 👍
Beautiful video. How thick is the upper surface crust? Makes me wonder what my house is sitting on in central Florida.
With exception of the area around the Eye, between 50-100ft.
It varies quite a bit. But whenever you hear about a sinkhole swallowing a house, you know it wasn't thick enough!
imagine how mind blowing it would be if someone exploring / cave diving found super ancient artifacts in one of these caves... hominids have been around for a while. Modern humans for 100k years... i think about over the past 100k years here in Florida how many periods of time where these Florida caves empty of water? did humans ever enter these caves, and is there any evidence... i know they have found skulls and stuff in the Mexican cenotes / caves (i think)... also imagine if you where like a super rich guy and bought a property with river cave access and made a secret base you can only get to by scuba diving... and it would be like a submarine but its a shelter thats always under water somwhere up in a cave... with lights and fish and perfect clear water you can get lost reading a book (20,000 leagues under the sea) while beautiful port hole windows illuminate the cabin with a view of the cave, fish..
In the past year after watching you I stopped for a year glad I’m back!
YOU STOPPPED?????? Welcome back!
@@BlueWorldTV glad to be back!
Would you ever consider using one of those "torpedoes" that have its in jet to swim you faster farther
Yes, but they are hard to film with.
You guys should have done it with dive talk that would be a great video
We will do a collaboration with them soon.
hey jonathan i have seen in many videos that you talk about going back after using 1/3 of your oxygen at a cave dive for safety reasons , but quick question why don't you stay longer if the water flow is strong and heads out of the cave ? I mean you can swim back and out of the cave really really fast and the only reason you used so much oxygen to get in was because you were swimming against the current on the way in ,meaning you have the advantage to explore even further without worrying too much for oxygen or am i wrong ?
The rule of thirds is what you are talking about, officially the rule is to reserve twice as much gas as you need to exit. Which in a high flow cave means you could theoretically use more gas, but we don't because you want that extra cushion in case of an emergency. As while it may take 1,000psi to enter a cave, but if you have an emergency exactly at 1,000psi that requires you to donate gas to your buddy, you don't have 2,000psi left you really have 1,800psi as the regulators require at least 200psi to work. So if you used 1,000psi to enter, and your buddy used the same amount as well. You are going to run out of gas just short of the exit.
That is why in low flow caves when diving in a team of two I back off from the rule of thirds 100 to 200psi. 100 to 200psi isn't going to limit your penetration time all that much, but it can be the difference between life and death, because even backing off by 100psi means you actually get a 300psi reserve.
There is always a temptation to "push the limits" a little when you are going into a high flow cave, knowing that you will "ride" the current easily on the way out. However, as Peg Leg says, you basically must resist the urge to do that because once you start breaking the rules, you significantly increase the chances that a malfunction becomes fatal. The rule is, you "turn on thirds" and for me that rule is iron-clad, unbreakable. And if I end up back at the entrance with half my air, I can always play around in the cavern zone for a while safely.
@@BlueWorldTV ok thanks i was wondering that when i saw the video thanks for the quick reply and the info keep up the good work i love your videos !
Wow_ing! Amazing! Dear Jonathan what is the water temperature in this place?
73*F or 23*C year-round
Low 70s. Definitely a 5mm suit minimum. 7mm is a little more comfortable and people who do really long dives often use drysuits.
Can you do some diving in 🇧🇷 next?
Hey Jonathan bird it's me Alex the kid who buys your merchandise been awhile hasn't it
What's up!?? Thanks for being a long time fan!!!!!
