- We did something very different on this hike. We stayed and slept at the old warden's cabin instead of in our tents. Parks Canada is testing a concept, and letting the Alpine Club of Canada manage the cabins for profit. It's an opportunity to experience the life of a warden 75 years ago.
Jacques Lake is in excellent destination for casual backpackers. The hike in is only 12.2 km over relatively easy terrain with no noticeable elevation gain.
One unusual aspect of the trail is that it travels through a narrow mountain valley, past 4 lakes and over a watershed divide, all withing a few kilometers.

I like the Flames cups :)
I joined your channel. Came over from Clyde's channel. I enjoy your point of view. Won't really follow the outdoors content. Went to school as a boy on Dogsled in N.W.T. Helped with a trapline ( From 9 to 11) Am Ex-Airborne with10 Hard years sleeping on the Ground. I hung my rifle up 15years ago. Not much for killing animals much anymore. They have a higher order of spirit than I was taught as a boy. Did bag a deer for family that needed meat. 3-4 years ago. I 'm not much for the cold . Like I used to be. Anyways Your a decent fellow, I send my best regards and encourage you to continue with your voice. You are a Good Citizen and you provide good service to our society. Bless you and your family.
Thanks Rolland, I really appreciate you sharing your story. I can tell you're well grounded, and you and I probably share a lot in common. A good buddy of mine was in the Airborne for a decade. T. McNeil's his name. He doesn't do well this time of year. I hope you are ok, and I thank you for your service. Cheers.
i saw you on Clydes channel, must say i do enjoy watching this trip
Welcome aboard!
My Mother Dad Brother and I were there 30 plus years ago . Thanks for taking me back. I'll put it on my list for next year.Dan
I was in Jasper last February for a few days and decided to snowshoe into these cabins one day. I though this was a beautiful setting and a nice way to spend the day. It’s a long day snowshoe in and out but not a hard day. Never saw another soul. Thanks for a little different view.
Thanks for the nostalgia. I did my first backpacking trip here in 2017, so this trail will always have a special place in my heart even though it isn't spectacular. I also heard the screaming at night when I was there, so the bigfoot must frequent the area.
Great adventure guys, this was fantastically put together! Such a enchanting atmosphere 👏👏
Pretty cool that they are letting people use the cabins. Bigfoot probably used to use the cabin all winter!
Thanks for sharing Marty. I miss being in the wilderness.
We are spending the night here November 10th 2023. What a coincidence
Bring a garbage bag.
Inspiring :)
You peaked my curiosity with your beautiful pictures of ghost towns.
@@Martyupnorth I reinjured my knee this year, so it was my way of having interesting adventures still! And there’s so many in this province :)
Great video. Thanks Marty
It was a sasquatch
Hi Marty, what’s your experience with the Hyperlite pack for multiday trekking? I have an Arc’teryx Altra 65, but I’m considering the Hyperlite Junction 3400 for the Kungsleden in Sweden (a five day trek).
I used my Hyperlight on a 10-day hike this summer, and it performed flawlessly. I also used it on a 9-day hike last year, with no issues whatsoever. Look for my Red Pass video from this year, and my Willmore Series from last year...on my channel.
subscribed because of clyde do something
Looks like you guys had a nice hike and good weather. Interesting to see how they have setup the cabins. Have a great end of the year.
I absolutely love Jasper ❤
Hey Marty just subed came over from Clyde's channel the noise you heard could ve😢well be a screech owl as I have had them at our cabin in the Cariboo.
Interesting hypothesis. I'll have to find the sound of one on youtube.
Or perhaps a deer? Their screeches are interesting.
I was wondering if it might be an Elk. Apparently they make ungodly noises.
Great video Marty
Jasper is famous for sasquatch sightings. The wilder the better the habitat!
Did you book the whole cabin? Or just lucky you were the only peeps? Looks like a nice trip!
We were just lucky and had the whole place to ourselves. If you're really lucky, you can be alone in the cabine. Very likely if you book it on a week night. Based on the log book, not a lot of people go there in a winter, maybe 20-30 max.
Good morning Marty
Good morning indeed.

Is there anything better then rocking some Led Zeppelin in the backcountry?! Haha looks like you guys had a great time.
I just hope the video doesn't get a copyright strike because of it. I had to change videos over the years because of background music.
