    Hey, if it's hard to get the clamp loose to remove the hose close to the thermostat housing, maybe you can try to remove the clamp on the other end of the hose. I saw on Ebay, an used whole thermostat unit with 3 hose connected to it. So apparently, somebody remove them the other way around.

      @amazoidal Před 2 lety

      How would you know.? No temp gauge. But on long trip and going up hills, I use my wired scanner because it has the ability to read coolant temp. Gets to about 197 on big hills like Cajon Pass on the way to Vegas from San Diego. Will back off on MPH if temp goes over 200. My 2012 Prius is known to blow head gaskets. I will change the electric water pump at 100k (81k now) to avoid the dreaded water pump failure due to plastic parts that degrade with heat cycles.

      Yes. It is a Hybrid. My thermostat wasn’t letting the engine warm up to operating temperature.

      @jayjohnson4352  Před 5 lety +1

      ullah552
      Hey Ullah552,
      Thanks for the question.
      The metal spring on the thermostat looses its elasticity after being heated and cooled too many times. It causes the plug on the thermostat to get stuck in whatever position it happens to be in. If it’s midway open, you may never notice. But if it’s stuck all the way open your car never heats up to operating temperature and will not pass a smog inspection. If it’s stuck in the closed position, your car will overheat causing numerous engine problems.
