The capacity is now nearer to 32k. This follows the building of a TV studio in the south east corner, a new TV gantry in the east stand(and associated access), and moving the away end from the south stand to the south east corner. The latter required a new disabled seating platform and segregation seating on either side(previously only required on one side). In addition MFC have insisted on very large segregation areas in more recent times. Combined this has reduced the available capacity.
@@TheDockrays we did in the prem, but not now in the championship, other than for big games. Our attendances are healthy for the division, average around 25k, but can look smaller due to having a large ground. Fun fact: we had the highest average away attendance in the championship last season, and we didn't even make the playoffs!
@@SIRDKA 25,000 is still a great attendance for a championship team for sure. It doesn’t surprise me now Middlesbrough have the highest away attendance - well supported club that does well normally. In recent years the championship have had Leeds United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa who I would say have bigger support than yourself. This season, not as many city teams in with big numbers. Maybe Sheffield United might be close to you now. You know a lot of interesting information about Middlesbrough.
I can imagine night matches are pretty special watching Middlesbrough. Never thought about the ships actually. An what’s a hot bovril? Like a pie or hot pot or something.
@@TheDockrays best way to describe it is like a gravy drink😂just have to try it. The ships were always cool sometimes they’d stand on the bridge and watch the match 😂🤣

@@TheDockrays I live in Greece, I'm AEK Athens if you know it. I like this team, I want it to return to the Premier along with Sunderland, Leeds against some of the other small teams that exist now. I'm not homophobic, but just like in Tottenham's stadium there is a corner with a rainbow flag, I was surprised to see group performances for homosexuals. Let me inform you that in Greece for a while now, the leader of the second party has been married to a man.
Fantastic stadium and fans
Very true. Lovely stadium and passionate fans.
Great stadium, thanks for the video 🇲🇽
Thank you Saul - no worries.

Ok thank you for sharing. Interesting to hear the various developments on this stadium. Do Middlesbrough sell out their stadium on match days?

@@TheDockrays not so sure about Forest. Their historic all time average attendance is below ours.
@@SIRDKA yeah that seems about right. Just thought they would have had good support certainly last year with getting promoted.
Nothing beats a Boro game on a Tuesday night with the ships in the back and a nice hot bovril 😂👍

Hi Axel, I take it you don’t like Middlesbrough then? Also are you homophobic?
