- Tuljak has been played since 1934 in every dance celebration (also song celebration). People have compared "Tuljak with Mu isamaa on minu arm, because both of the tunes are very important to Estonians. Music M. Härma, lyrics K. F. Karlson.

Beautiful people, beautiful land!
Estonian singing is so amazing to me. Just like listening to one of the dialects in China. Thank you.
English translation:
*Tuljak Dance*
*Part I:*
Together:
The whole parish was herded together,
the municipality invited together;
there are all kinds of guests -
even the Viru elder was asked to join!
Tony, a worthy groom,
has asked little Mary to marry him.
Mary, a nimble girl,
is marrying Tony.
*Part II:*
Men:
The wedding party is super fine,
with fifty casks of vodka.
Wedding stuff was brought together
as much as they could.
Ducks and geese were roasted
probably more than a thousand.
A whole bunch of guns
make noise in honour of the wedding.
Women:
Wedding, yes wedding,
with fifty casks of vodka.
Wedding, yes wedding,
as much as they could.
Wedding, yes wedding,
probably more than a thousand.
Wedding, yes wedding,
make noise in honour of the wedding.
*Part III:*
Men:
Is it perhaps the moon
that is shining to us,
or am I seeing the sun in the bright shine?
This is Tony,
there also his Mary -
they are walking hand in hand.
Mary is making a joke,
then Tony is laughing,
so that tears are flowing down on his face.
They are having a beautiful weather,
their eyes are shining,
if only they would make it through life like that!
Women:
Is it perhaps the moon, moon shining,
or am I seeing the stars,
shining like the sun?
Oh life, oh beauty!
Look at Tony, and Mary!
They are going hand in hand.
Young Mary is making a joke,
then groom Tony is laughing,
tears flowing down on his face.
Oh life, oh beauty!
A beautiful day, is shining to them.
Oh if only one could make it through life like that!
*Part IV:*
Men:
Roll the Viru Waltz,
would like to go dancing.
Let the Tuljak tune sound well,
it makes the blood swarm.
Women:
Brothers, roll the Viru Waltz,
we would like to go dancing.
Play the Tuljak dance well,
it makes the blood swarm.
*Part V:*
Men:
4x "Tally-ho and tra-la-la!"
Women:
The instrument fires up the senses, the dance is spinning the head,
the boy is asking and mother wants you to go dancing.
But why are you trembling, jumping so, dear heart inside,
when a manly man pulls us in his arms?
*Part VI:*
Men:
Maidens, don't be at all ashamed of us,
when time comes, we may as well marry you.
A nice horse is laughing in the stable, I also have a fine sleigh,
a wealthy farm, which I will soon own.
Women:
4x "Tally-ho and tra-la-la!"
*Part VII:*
Men 1:
Hey, dear in-law!
Tally-ho and tra-la-la!
The dance is fine, the tune jolly,
let's go dancing then!
Men 2:
3x "Tally-ho and tra-la-la!"
Let's go dancing then!
Women:
(Pause)
What do you want, Tony lad?
(Pause)
Yes, let's go dancing too then!
*Part VIII:*
Together:
Tally-ho!
Men:
Tony lad and Mary lass are dancing around spinning,
fill the mugs, raise the jugs with beer!
Bless the lad and the lass with children!
Women:
Tony lad took Mary lass to dance!
To the lad and lass!
(Pause)
Together:
Let's let live!
------------------
This was by far the most difficult I've done. I divided it into parts because the men and women are singing often different lyrics at the same time, which makes this song so great!
Wow, thanks a lot! These people are great singers and the lyrics make me smile. This is uplifting, so nice of you to share the translation.
Fantastically beautiful.
I think "Hõissa, Tõnni taat viis Manni memme tantsima" (in the end) is actually about Tony's grandfather (father) asking Mary's grandmother (mother) for a dance.
@@inimolend Could be actually, but it would also make sense that the two were referred to as taat and memm after their wedding. Plus the line is followed by a common wish that they get lots of children.
@@eksiarvamus I think to be taat and memm you need to be at least middle age. :) Even in old times there were vanaperenaine/vanaperemees and noorperenaine/noorperemees and nobody was going to call people taat or memm when they had just married, probably 18 y/o or so and hadn't even had any children yet.
Also I would "taati memmega laskem elada" would roughly mean "let's let the old man and woman live too".
PS. No offence meant. I actually like your translation :)
Эстонский язык по красоте и певучести один из лучших в мире!Мира,добра и благополучия Эстонии и её дружному народу!Завидую вашим праздникам песни,очень завидую,жалко,что у нас такого нет.Низкий поклон из Беларуси.

A nation of models.. awesome
CZcams knows that today they had this festival.
Dude i singed there
Love the conductor!! :D
He looks like someone from santas workshop.
such a great unity of a tiny nation
..via air tv PBS air "singing revolution "
A great history of Estonia !
I love estonia
amazing!
Awesome!
Nice name calling. But I never said Estonian culture was "fickle" or that they were "weak". And no country can survive immigrants replacing the native population - it is pretty easy to understand that. Example: If you take Ethiopia and made most of its population German, guess what? It wouldn't really be Ethiopia, or Ethiopian by any stretch.
its strong...
too much well intoned to be common people.. are all estonians professional singers? :O
fenotipobombay Not really, but many of them belong to a choir for a longer time period, while others join a choir approximately a year before the event. There are very few, who have joined later.
eksiarvamus And most Estonians love singing in one way or another. That's what makes us the singing nation.
+fenotipobombay Ye, We are ;)
It's mostly amateur choirs of schools, municipalities but perhaps also companies and churches. But the standards are very high and it's quite hard to qualify, in fact.
YES THEY ARE!!! :D ALL MY DEAR ESTONIANS!!!
The Song Festival hosts visitor choirs every now and then. I can't remember where those particular guests were from (I do know that there was at least one visitor choir from Asia, so they must have been from that choir), but we've had guests from South Africa participating as well.
amazing :D
Like))))) Elagu!!
the women from Estonia in this video are beautiful
Looking forward to living there :D Six months in Eesti Vabariik... Looking forward. Definately :D
Tiljak in English:
Everybody come together, everyone in town’s invited
We are going to have a wedding, it will be today.
Wedding, yes we’ll have a wedding, everyone in town’s invited
We are going to have a wedding, it will be today.
Hõissa ja trallalla!
Tõnni’s going to marry Manni and we’re going to have a party
Eat and eat and eat and then we’re going to eat some more
Look at them they are so happy, in their eyes the sun is shining
Their whole world is beaming brightly…. Everybody dance!
Hõissa ja trallalla!
Elagu!
They've been practicing for five years between festivals.
+James Thorson Um..no. As an Estonian choir singer, I am qualified to tell you that the choirs don't even get the repertoire until the season of the next festival, i.e. if the festival is in July, the repertoire is announced in September of the last year, so that leaves a few months for practice. Most of these songs are very simple (due to the large number of singers, there's no point in particularly complex harmonies, they're going to be lost anyway) so they're not difficult to learn.
+Futu06 This particular song is rather difficult, though. The reason it always sounds great is because of its long history as part of the festival program.
largeradiance I love the song, the only negative I would have is that every time it's "oh god, here we go again..." It's an iconic song, and there's nothing wrong with it, it's just like.. I think a popular Christmas song is a good comparison - like it's not bad, but you hear it every single season, so you can't help but to be a little annoyed. And for what it's worth I think it worked better back when there were fewer singers, because lately you can barely make out what the lyrics are, even more so if you don't know them exactly yourself.
Nope 4
Coolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
God Bless Estonians!! May they fight the scourge of multiculturalism forever.
@NowSwimBack13 Obviously exchange students. I respect them for learning enough of the language to be able to sing. But I know that choir singers sing songs in languages they don't really speak.
does anyone know the singer in the center at 1:19? He looks exactly like my brother-in-law, Paul Laan.
there is not one head with dark hairs!?!?!!
In my country Slovakia, especially in East Slovakia are 1/4 Gypsies/Mustalaiset/Roma
and they look like Arabs or Pakistanis..
But in Estonia the people have blond or white hair :)
bingzaniGercel there is a shit ton of people with dark hair
Estonians:from tribe Yudah(ca.10%),from tribe Dan(ca.10%),from tribe Issacar(ca.20%),from tribe Gad(Goths-Ostrogoths "mostably"(ca.20%) and 40% others.e.g. Ugri-Mugrians,Tsuhontsew.Srange land-Maryland.Oy,Vey!

I agree with Lord0Xel actually.. He makes many valid points aside from Slippin Pegs who just uses name calling to justify himself.
You are not using the word according to "standard" definition. I have not once indicated that I believe one race is "superior" to another. The reason why you aren't giving me your definition is because you are just throwing the word around like a swear word. You are using it in an attempt to label me - because you do not have an argument and you cannot defend your position. You have to resort to name calling.
And it is not surprising that you can't even define a word that you are spamming.
@NowSwimBack13 there was a japanese delegation there.
Likewise, it does not change the fact that you are repeatedly using a word with literally no meaning.

@iidskuu No my good sir you are.

there is not one head with dark hairs!?!?!!
There are a lot of people with dark brown hair 🤷🏻♂️

thats a lot of blond folk! Am considering college in taltech. was curious about their features why they all tanned when over here in ireland we all white af :L
thats cuz we are not gingers¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sarmats have a strong secret...a song reflex !
It is actually a neoshamanistic mental programming against multikulti or any other orwellian brainwashing. Whatever works for the cause - to keep the nation and culture and language. And the conductors are practicing tai chi (the finnic equivalent to chi is sisu).
Thanks for demonstrating the modern liberal/Marxist mentality. You argue like a little child.
Besides!!! kroplas gan taas mei4as...
Yes ! Jesus is love and unity ! Very beautiful !
Fairy tales have nothing to do with this.

Also, obviously the asians on this video were not native estonians. thought you ment asian-ish native estonians.
This asian people there were our quests. So simple it is:/ Can´t understand tho´ why you brougt up your poor grandmother here?
Look it up yourself. I'm not your slave.
True
Who are you to say that asian-looking estonians dont belong in estonia? Truth is, finnic people are originally from east, and so there is some asian looking estonians. Im a finn, i know people who look quite asian, its not uncommon here.
peaaegu sarnane sellega ? czcams.com/video/Zrf3uxjWj6k/video.html
Sul puudub täielikult muusikaline kuulmine. Mis on neil kahel laulul sarnast peale selle, et lauldakse? Rumalused tasub hoida endale.
Speak for yourself bro, I love asian girls :v

Ei või olla, venekeelne "spr" (näiteks sõnas справка) on kordades kohutavam :)
