Steve Lien wdym Doffy’s crew was essentially fodder. Only real threats were Doffy and Vergo. Pica was running from Zoro the whole arc then got low diffed

If you were mad at Big Mom being “thwarted,” you simply don’t understand her character. Yes, the Strawhats were able to mess with Big Mom in way you wouldn’t expect them to be able to do to Whitebeard, Shanks, Roger, etc. but just because a character is strong doesn’t mean they have to be portrayed as a chad.
Big Mom is as strong as the other yonko, but that’s where the similarities end. Shanks and Whitbeard are portrayed almost like military generals. Wise, larger than life figures with a wealth of cunning and strategy behind every action. You can’t just roll Whitebeard off the battlefield.
Big Mom, on the other hand, is more like a grizzly bear. She’s motivated solely by childish impulses and she is a threat (to both friend and foe) with or without her memories. She’s a force of nature. She’s uncontrollable and a totally loose cannon, but her mind is very simple. Trickery is all you’d need to “thwart” her. Like a beast, her emotional immaturity is her biggest flaw and it doesn’t really hurt her portrayal to fall for traps unless you think being as strong as Shanks means you have to have the exact same personality as Shanks.
As an adult big mom shows at least some level of cunning and intelligence. I'd put her more on the level of mob boss/Kingpin (or Queenpin). She isn't as strategically creative as some other characters when achieving her goals but that's due to her defaulting to her raw power if such an issue arises, which results in her getting careless over time.
That's why the strawhats are able to take advantage of her. And I'd say that same thing about Kaido and his forces. Too long being the big dog and he allowed them to not only shut down his line of production, but also catch them by surprise at their own base.
ASSARAPTUS true but she’s still childish and easily manipulated. Not an idiot, but definitely more prone to childish fits of blind rage than any other character (hence the mother caramel photo incident).
Even her own crew recognized that even a little bit of planning, such as poisoning the wedding cake, would be enough for a much weaker opponent to get a W of some kind.

THANK YOU. Bro I have been saying this FOREVER. The Strawhats have really not had a solid all-out fight to the extent of something like Enies Lobby where every single member was pushed to their absolute limits. The beginning of the new world was a lot like East Blue where they essentially steamrolled every villain. Plus if you think about the One Piece timeline, the pre-timeskip wasn't even an entire year. They grow exponentially as time goes on, they have been power creeping since day 1. The same Luffy that beat Morgan was the same that fought Crocodile, and on that subject in all of a day he went from being steamrolled twice to actually beating him. Exactly the same Luffy that defeated Rob Lucci, the only difference was a new technique that compounded on the training he had growing up. Likewise, the same Luffy that fought Hordy was the same Luffy that fought Katakuri, yet in a matter of hours was able to start using future sight to the point where in wano he can just do it off the rip. They only need to consistently be in battle and with the foundations they already have they can keep skyrocketing the same as ever. This concept was baked into the fabric of One Piece, people have been watching this series for 941 episodes or 990 chapters and still somehow underestimate their growth potential. We are near the end of the series, if they can't take a Yonko now, when will they?
Exactly bro, that's what I've been saying too. I mean, they're all fairly young. Especially Luffy, AND they have the foundations of combat and Haki down. They just need experience to let it all bloom.

Um, to be fair he got there in a blink of an eye from where he was standing freaking our out being told he can't use his observation Haki if he doesn't calm down,jumped into the Mouth as it was snapping to grab Luffy and likely used that arm to catapault them other out not having time to Haki up that arm in that 1/10th of a second so he sacrificed it
The Always on Ryo Kaido and Big Mom uses has its limits...such as G4 Punching Big Mom and her having to Haki up to block as she probably for saw G4 could get pass her always on deflection ryo

Do you know how important it is to one shot fodder? Thats huge in any war if you dont want to be swarmed and exhausted. A person's usefulness is not defeating the main baddie, but in how effective their crowd control abilities are. Then you can all just swarm the big bad with the crew and GG. Can't do that with fodder shooting and getting in the way.

I can justify Big Mom's underachievement when it comes to Whole Cake and now to an extent. Oda, with this, is trying to say that Big Mom heavily underestimates the straw hats and they, as a result keep being able to suppress her by catching her off guard. The moment Big Mom actually sees the Straw Hats as rivals for the treasure or at least a threat to her ambitions is the moment from when on she'll really be scary.

Doffy and Katakuri both relied on their awakening, which surpasses the need for stamina, so they both had a slight edge compared to Luffy's devil fruit limitations.

The Straw Hat Pirates, the people we follow, have swept the strongest generation of CP9 agents. They took out two warlord crews and organizations, including the warlords themselves, and liberated one of the founding kingdoms of the WG. They attacked celestial dragons. They became a rallying force at Marineford. They allied with the revolutionary army and several former warlords, and the former first mate of the roger pirates. They led an infiltration and jailbreak on Impel Down. They succcessfully raided Enies Lobby (and, according to the government, burned it to the ground).
... And this was all in a matter of a few months, pre-timeskip.
They then spent two years honing their abilities for the New World. Some members trained with top-ranking revolutionaries. Another researched, further developed, and assimilated the technology and blueprints of Dr Vegapunk into his being. Another trained with Rayleigh. Another honed his swordsmanship under Dracule Mihawk in isolation.
Then they took out an army of 100,000 fishmen and claimed it as their territory, saving Fishman Island. They sabotaged Kaido's artificial devil fruit production and antagonized yet another warlord, one who was built up for a good 500 chapters up until that point. They saved yet another founding kingdom in defeating said warlord. They saved Zou from Kaido's forces. A small force infiltrated Big Mom's territory, took out two of her three generals, stole her poneglyph, and wrecked her plans. They've formed an alliance with a former warlord and added another former warlord to their crew.
And now they're targeting Kaido and liberating Wano, a nation whose warriors are feared even by the WG, directly taking down the emperor with the highest bounty - possibly the second highest active bounty in the world, actually.
If we heard about a crew like this secondhandedly - if they weren't the protagonists of this story, but were shrouded in mystery as an endgame obstacle, we would not even question their strength. We would realize that they were a big deal.
What makes the Strawhats so special is that we've been there with them from the time luffy set out from his village. Unlike characters like Whitebeard, Katakuri, Doflamingo, etc, we've actually seen them when they were weak, and this clashes with where they currently stand, which is near the apex of the world in infamy, influence, and strength.
In the final war we very well could see forces unite under the banner of the Straw Hat Pirates that include among them the fighting cooks of East Blue's Baratie, the Franky Family of Water 7, the armed forces of the nations of the Sakura Kingdom, Alabasta, Elbaf, Dressrosa, Fishman Island, Kano Country, Wano, Zou, and other territories, the Revolutionary Army, the Red Haired Pirates (and all their allies), the surviving Whitebeard Pirates (and their subordinate crews), several warlords and former warlords, most of the crews of the Worst Generation, multiple former high ranking marines (Coby, Smoker, Kuzan, Garp, and others), and more.
Who would ever think a crew that could amass such a vast fleet would be anything but a force to be reckoned with?

Chopper is Mad Underrated Powerwise. The Straw Hats were already a Top 10 Most Dangerous Crew entering the New World. They're the 5th Most Powerful Crew Post-Timeskip presently with or without the Grand Fleet. Yes, they are a Yonko Crew. They're on par with if not Superior to what the Whitebeard Pirates were Pre-Timeskip. Folks need to stop the downplay.

The only way for Oda to show a Strawhat crew team fight is NOW. Because beyond Wano, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbei will be too strong that they would want to solo the Big Names themselves tbh.
I can see a full on SH crew team fight against a half weakened Big Mom after they beat Kaido. Marco can heal the SHs before that one last final battle.
And I agree that they can move a Yonko to the side. Honestly, if you put current Luffy in that team battle it might be a winning battle. Like let's be real, Luffy is gonna do good against Kaido this time. Way better than the first since he has Ryuo Armament and Advanced Ryuo.

Every time the stawhats fight a a full crew. It's been against impossible odds. Kuma, Pacifista, Oars. Same could be said for the Monster Trio as well. Though any other configuration than those has much easier fights. Zoro/Ussop vs the dragon, for example
Many pirate crews with thousands of foot soldiers couldn't make it out of the Paradise portion of the Grand Line, Luffy made it to Dressrosa (pre-fleet) with only 9. *9*

Kaido and Big Mom to me are the equivalent of Raid Battles. They can’t be soloed, you need a squad. For Big Mom, potentially the SH Crew and for Kaido, the Supernova.

I don't think it's a flaw that the Strawhats have gotten stronger "off-screen" or that they're "power creeping on Luffy" when it's already been a precedent of them getting stronger from island to island. Not only that, but haki blooms when you're in danger and when facing strong opponents.
We need more 1v1 fights like Ennies Lobby. Even if that extends this arc another year or 2.

Like the video, but just from you saying tht the Strawhats would match the Roger pirates, then by default they would match the Whitebeards. Cuz it was already shown in the canon manga that they were both equal crews. The Whitebeard crew was the strongest Yonko crew, and that was shown clearly when they fought the marines and had the edge over them in a few cases, but lost ultimately.
The problem with the straw hats is what happens in the ufc, where people only fight with 60-80% of their strength. I think because they never had to “really” sacrifice everything they had. Yeah they fight hard but not to the death which in my opinion makes all fights vary wildly. Imo I also think that this pirate era has become kind of complacent. Yeah they’re strong but they should be stronger than they are now.
Pre grand line crew are the only strawhats who have gotten "power ups" during the new world. I wonder if that means we will see big leaps for the grand line crew.

While i agree that its more about the straw hats progression than big mom being incompetent, i also think that the stuff that happens mainly happens cuz its her and its less likely to occur with the other yonko since to me, Oda has made it clear that big mom is child like and has heavy mental flaws. I just c it as every1 has their weaknesses and her weakness is tunnel vision and staying calm which makes her vulnerable to great teamwork, coordinated attacks and surprise attacks
Don't forget that the yonko, whilst fierce and can tank damage, are not immovable objects. Luffy solo pushed kaido around, even though kaido took all the punches like a champ and never decided to even dodge.
Their haki game and intellect level during combat is also not quite clear, with even king and queen showing themselves to be quite slow to react. This could either be because they are cocky and full of themselves or perhaps they truly have less haki than cats like katakuri but are just physically more powerful in combat.

You could say Jimbei coasted Moria cause he was a hard counter for him with his salt water. Kinda like Luffy and Enel. But yeah, the Straw Hats are all monsters in their own right now and as a unit they're a force to be reckoned with

This will be the first full team all-out fight that the strawhats have post time skip. I think everyone forgets that Luffy and Zoro have things in their back pocket that they haven’t shown (or perhaps couldn’t). I think Luffy’s solitary 6 months of training produced a power in him that he’s unable to control because of the lack of haki control. I think Luffys ryou training will rectify that. I think Zoro’s eye, Enma, and Mihawk training backstory will become relevant soon. I think the story is set up for Jinbe and Sanji and pirate alliance to be the biggest factors in defeating Big Mom, because of both of their histories. I also think Luffy and Zoro and samurai will be the biggest factors in killing Kaido, based on their grudges. These fights would justify the huge bounty increases that come for the strawhats after wano.

I genuinely believe the strawhats could take out Big Mom with no casualties similar to oars fight. But Kaido is weird he 1 shot the strongest guy in the alliance so he's wonky to scale cause I'm not sure if that would happen again

Whoa there. Let's not pretend luffy is not currently pretty op in terms of strength. He may not be blow for blow Kaido strength but he would probably wax katakuri right now. He has all but unchained himself from his drawbacks. He has shown to sort of overcome the gear 4 cool down which is the only reason he struggled at all against doffy. Remember that doffy did ZERO damage to gear 4 luffy. He *won the fight against katakuri without honed observation haki or advanced armament. All three of those upgrades combined puts him leagues above many other character. I think he meshes fine with a super powerful crew at this point in the story
It is because your a fan that you can't see Big Moms role in the story. Not every Younkou is meant to be a big strong character that Luffy has to first fight. Remember luffy defeated crocodile without haki and had to go 4 years up plus haki to deal with doflamingo. The characters are always meant to be the same. Kaido is the yonkou that theres for first fights. Whiteboard to relinquish the old era and ushering a new one, shanks to give Luffy a goal and big mom to measure luffys strength and crew to face kaido
We have seen all the Yonko get clowned. Whitebeard was stabbed in the back by his own subordinate, Shanks lost his arm to a sea king, and Kaido is so emo he tried to kill himself.

Luffy has never really been about 1on1 in my opinion. It's about all of the help he gets along the way which ultimately makes him stronger

I think by the end of one piece something that all of us are going to end up learning when it comes to Luffy is his route to becoming pirate King's going to be vastly different than a lot of us are probably thinking right now I know a lot of people are thinking of it in terms of strength and of course Luke is going to have abilities that put him in contention with some of the strongest cats out there on the sea however the way the straw hats are built it honestly kind of reminds me of Naruto and the first hokage and usher where their philosophy was that having your friends by your side is what makes you stronger whereas with madra and Uchiha it was all about personal progression and strength you don't need friends only yourself and I feel that's kind of the path luffy's taking as far as what I mentioned with having friends around of course it's a shonen so that's not surprising but when you really look at it in depth Luffy could care less about being the pirate king if it means he doesn't have his friends with him so in that sense when it comes down to if Luffy is going to actually be as crazy powerful as Kyle or big mom personally I don't see it being that way at least not in the traditional sense the only way Luffy is going to come out on top is through his friends because they balance each other out all of them have a specialty that Luffy doesn't have himself when you really think about it Luffy just knows the goal and all of them while they have their own goals they want to get him to that goal however Luffy understands that in order to get to his goal he is going to need people around him who can do the things that he can't such as Nico Robin for example who can not only read the pony glyphs but she is probably the best straw hat beside Brook in terms of gathering information which makes those two The perfect combo when things need to be done quietly because as we know luffy's not that kind of person to just do things quietly he might cooperate for the greater good but he has limited patience and I think that's kind of what is going to be the deciding factor in terms of what kind of pirate King movie will be so I don't see him being white beard or gold Roger strong but I definitely see him being dangerous not necessarily just because he himself will be parking but because of those he is associated with it's because of his connections there's so many other people outside of Luffy who has a certain kind of thinking or discipline that he himself does not possess and therefore luffy's ultimate stream pretty much as mihawk stated during the one of the best is that luffy's greatest power is how he can convert and draw people to him and even make his enemies want to join him and believe in him
