  • In this video I will take you in depth into getting started with the Creality Falcon 2 laser cutter and engraver! I will take you right from the unboxing all the way to the complete workflow of processing your first job.
    Creality sent me the Falcon 2 (22W) model to test and I've been generally happy with the results so far. This is not a long term review, however, and the opinions expressed in this video are (at this point in time) more like first impressions. That being said, it seems the Falcon 2 has a respectable build quality and hardware issues shouldn't be a problem over time.
    Check the video chapters if you're interested in using this machine to color stainless steel. I spent a lot of time trying to dial in the settings to get good results. I've seen a lot of other people on CZcams gloss over these settings. I hope you find these useful!
    *NOTE: In the video I had shown the honeycomb, stainless steel consumables, and rotary tool were included in the kit. THIS WAS ONLY FOR PROMOTIONAL REVIEWERS. These items and the enclosure are all needed to be purchased separately! The actual purchased product details are subject to the standard "In the Box" details provided on the official Creality website. I apologize for this misunderstanding.

  • @JasonSobell

    Excellent informational video, thanks.
    Perhaps the ply burning issue you had at the edge of the board was due to oil from your fingers affecting the burn, as it's probably the sides where you held the board. I take care not to touch any of the surfaces, particularly with anything absorbent, as you can't see the oily fingerprints but they are definitely there. I had similar issues creating PCBs in the past where etching didn't work well where my fingers touched the copper.
    Just a guess, but perhaps another experiment to try in future?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 8 měsíci

      You might be right, I'll have to test that further - usually on tumblers and things where finger prints are visible I always wipe them away first. With wood it's easy to forget they are there / soak into the wood and perhaps have some impact... good thinking.

    awesome video :) I just bought the Falcon 2 pro 22w and I can't figure out why my tests keep a consistent line. There is no cut off while it's doing its thing, it just keeps running with the laser keep running when it needs to start a new segment. I can't find anyone having this issue. I'm in hope there somebody on here or you that can help me.

    Great video. However, the smoke extractor will collide with the cable guide on the left side when the laser performs homing. How do you handle this?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 7 měsíci

      This shouldn't be an issue on the 22W because the module is still narrow enough to get the nozzles beside without hitting anything. On the 40W it comes with a bumper for the limit switch so you don't have interference (but you will lose 5mm on your x axis) see here: czcams.com/video/J26kbJYS9Eg/video.html

    Hi... Nice video. Thanks!
    I do have a question. What do the LEDs on the laser module mean? I've seen them change from green, red and even yellow, but I have no idea what they mean. I couldn't find anything in the manual or Creality website.

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 9 měsíci +1

      On your USB drive you should have the instructions and one of them says laser module alarm function or something like that. Basically there are 3 LEDs
      1. Air assist - Green is good, yellow means partially blocked flow or low flow. It might show yellow if you even turn down the air assist to a low setting, doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. Red means it's blocked / off I guess.
      2. FIRE - I'm guessing red means fire (I haven't lit one yet lol) - yellow is RISK of fire but you can proceed - and green is good
      3. LENS - green is clean, yellow is warning needs to be cleaned, red means clean the lens now
      To reset the alarms you can press the reset button on the laser head

    It doesn’t seem to matter what material I cut. When I get it to a speed it cuts through, the engraver runs for a while then stops with the lens contamination alarm (The right red light), I reset the laser and continue, it runs for a bit then alarms again.

    'thread forming' - better known as self-tapping.
    Fume extraction- instead of fitting a filter, just run a tube from the 'blow' side of the vac to the outside world. 100% effective and zero cost.
    mm/min seems a bit strange- why not use mm/sec? - this is the correct SI unit.

    Could you not have simply turned the rollers on the steady-rest upside-down? They look reversible.

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 8 měsíci

      I believe I tried that, but then the issue was that I still couldn't extend the steady rest out far enough to fit the whole long skinny bottle on there. The bottle would hit the bracket and still wouldn't work for me. That's why I ended up separating the two parts and making a base for the steady rest as well.
