Every street food vendor in China uses gutter oil which is fished straight from the gutters or dumpsters. The gutter oil eventually also gets into the higher end restaurants because it's cheaper. If you have ever been to China, you almost certainly have eaten gutter oil.

Some restaurants were found to have gutter oil (cooking oil extracted from sewage) as well as using other, potentially harmful, adulterants. People also don't want to risk consuming animals they aren't used to, e.g. dogs.
I love your energy so much, it’s actually the reason I went to a traditional Chinese restaurant and tried the most unfamiliar foods, it was surprisingly good but it looked like it could kill 😭 the point: you’re the reason I don’t limit my food choices anymore
