  • Alaska's rivers begin the yearly process of freezing and we head to the river to catch this remarkable event.
The brisk weather is a sure sign winter is here to stay. We work through snowfall to cut and split wood to ensure the wood shed is topped off and although cold and snowy, life at the cabin is good.

Snow never ceases to amaze me, here in Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa. The closest I have ever seen snow in my 50 years, is in a freezer before it turns to ice! It never snows here. Sun going as high as the tree line, running along the treetops, then it sinks down! Wow! Wonders of God and nature.

Kenya is over 3 000 kilometers away from Zimbabwe. Furthermore, in between there is Zambia, which is 200% bigger than Britain. After Zambia, you get into Tanzania, which is also a big country. How wonderfully odd....the overhead views of the river? The ice patches reminded me so much of lichen on stones.
The brightness of the ice, against the stoney grey of the water. Very beautiful reminder that the "easy" weather is over

Neither of you are afraid to put in the work, that's for sure. While it may be Simple Living, it's constant hard work. I love that you both share in it equally and have such great support for each other. The love between you two is obvious and so heartwarming to witness. Great videos of the frozen river, snow covered forest, and all the surroundings. I can't wait to watch each of your videos as soon as they show up on my screen. Love you both, stay simple, stay warm, and keep loving each other. Can't wait for the next video..... God Bless.

Wow! I don't think I have ever seen such beautiful snow! What great drone shots! The trees are spectacular loaded with snow like that. Down here in OK, the snow is usually wind driven and with so many open fields, roads get blocked pretty fast. But luckily, that doesn't happen much.
Hey congrats, you two, that 1/2 MILLION subs is a long way from where you were when I started watching!
I admire the fact that you DO live a SIMPLE life, while steadily investing in more properties. Bravo, very smart!!!

We got 2 feet up here on the hillside in Anchorage. It's the best type of snow, pure powder. We used our leaf blower to clear the driveway, it was awesome. We were going to try and get a snowblower this year but had other expenses and decided to try out the leaf blower. This will get us through for now and I'm thankful for it. I love the powdery snow it makes clearing so much easier.

Don't tell my wife, but I'm ready for winter and its only mid-May. No garden to tend, no grass to cut. Winter in the north is quiet and beautiful. After many years of living in the far north, I couldn't wait for winter to end, now I'm content with it.

Stacking wood like you guys are makes me think of the old Main saying. Wood heating warm shoe twice once when you cut it and stack it and once in the house in the fireplace and body equals twice! Just food for thought. That was the day many years ago when my husband and I used to do what you two are doing now splitting and stacking wood for winter heat. It does give you a sense of accomplishment when you’re finished, knowing you have enough for the whole winter. U2 do a good job of portraying but you are good friends and enjoy each other‘s company as well as being married. Thank you for setting the example. 🧓🏻💕👍

That log splitter is incredible. There's something satisfying watching the woodpile grow and knowing that it will keep you all warm inside during those harsh winters. The irony is that I live in a tropical state in Australia, I have all the conveniences that city life affords. Our lives couldn't be more different. I love that your living your dream life. I'd love to experience it lol. I actually want to live away from people, no neighbours, no noise. I have created my own way of living in a city quietly. I also love the way you guys work together and you both work hard. No obvious gender divide of chores. You both just get it done. It's awesome because you guys enjoy each other's company genuinely. How anybody would want to live in Alsaka is beyond me. I dont think I could cope with the long freezing cold winter months. You guys are made of sterner stuff than me.. I'm on the south coast UK, and we see very little snow, last year we had 2 mornings of frost thats all. And thats enough for me. We do get snow from time to time which doesn't last more than a day but that is very very seldom. The last time we had enough snow to close us in was back in 1964. Lucky for me I was abroad at the time. So you have my admiration for doing what you are doing and I love watching your Video's , I have subscribed so keep up the good work, all the Best Del..UK

You both work so hard to be self sufficient. It is such a joy to witness your teamwork. Thank you for sharing your life on CZcams! Having spent time living off grid, I understand the effort. I also miss the freedom of it. My Mom needed me, so I am back in a city, attached to the grid... I saw many people fail because they did not work well together. I saw people who could not make it because they lacked the work ethic to needed to survive off the grid. So much respect for both of you!

I just turned 60 a few days ago. I spent too many years being invincible that by the time I figured out I wasn't, it was too late for my body to recover. I let life get in the way of my dreams and now it's physically too late to achieve my dreams. I now have to live vicariously through channels like this and I congratulate this couple on living this life they want.
