Found your vlog while searching for Marella Explorer as joining the cruise next Tuesday! Can’t wait to see the islands - it’s been a while. I’m guessing you had the premium all inclusive; if so would you say it’s worth it? Not that much of a drinker but do like a nice glass of wine or gin and tonic. The coffee on these ships is often pretty horrible but I know we have a machine in our cabin. Re the food outlets in Funchal - I agree it’s disappointing to see these chains. It definitely wasn’t like that the last time I visited.
Yes, I had the premium all inclusive and felt it was totally worth it as the Coffee Port coffee was great. I didn’t have coffee in the room (sachets of, I think, Nescafé) or the buffet. The free bottle of water and soft drinks as part of it also made it good value. I like cocktails, but don’t drink a lot either, so not having to pay extra for those non-alcoholic drinks was good. I actually have some videos coming out on Fridays which are just the sections like the cabin tour, ship tour, food, etc, without all of the Vlogging.
Been on a few Marella cruises and Explorer is the one to avoid, not awful but the other ships provide a much better experience.
That’s good to know; means if I go on another one on a different ship, it should be even better 🙂

How difficult was the walking at the top of the cable car?
It wasn’t bad at all; it was mostly flat with options to go up or down if we wanted to on some of the pathways.
