A Rivarossi Big Boy Arrived In The Mail! I Can't Believe it!

- I package arrived in the mail a while back and I have been waiting to open it. What I wasn't expecting to find in doing so was a variety of different items including a Rivarossi big boy locomotive which is something I've always wanted. This as well as the other items were an incredibly generous gift on the part of David Z to G Scale and I want to thank him very much for it.

Look at the road number 4005, the real life counterpart wrecked after a switch was improperly set by a crew about 67 yrs ago.
It's cool that specific one was among the 8 preserved
@@bentheidioticnerd8993 Yes! Amazing part of railroad history
Now that will be the most popular locomotive on the channel now

Some info on UP 4005, it still exists currently at the Forney Transportation Museum in Denver Colorado. It was also the only Big Boy that was wrecked in 1953, unfortunately killing the engineer and fireman, the brakeman died later due to burn injuries.
yes, and it could of been prevented so easily to
I've heard the history of this loco. Pretty tragic what happen, I'm surprised UP bothered to rebuild it.
SMT Mainline try running 100 cars with this locomotive by its self
@@rockyfanatic6846 I dont think he even has enough room for half of that on his layout.
50 then
Me wondering if David is from Pennsylvania
Ollies price tags: Ok, decent start.
Weis grocery bag: Yeah that confirms it.
In my opinion, this is the best mail SMT had received! The blue goose, SP 7347, and pretty much the others were good.
Also the z scale train set, also from david
SMT Mainline high on 1. Sugar OR 2. Trains. Answer: YES.
Harrison, this is what being "high on life" is all about. It's the best way to go.

Put the Scranton sign on one of your factories! That is such a cool Big Boy!!!!!! I think you have out-done yourself, David! Thank you and thanks to SMT for the great content!
Never thought The SMT mainline variety channel would do some food reviews! Todays episode on peeps is gonna be an all time classic!
That is one cool Rivarossi smt! down here in California I have actually took an excursion ride on U.P. Big boy 4014 the LAST steam train to still run under its own power there are only 8 left in existence! It recently traveled the country to celebrate 150 years of the railroad being constructed!
XD you saw that too???

I am glad to see you happy
Rivarossi big boy oh wow very awesome. David Z to G. That's very generous of you Very Awesome sir! . I got my eyes set on my late uncle's rivarossi mallet myself. Im hoping to get some switcher locomotives to. Go with the layout I'm planning on I want to do a video of progress etc. Very good to see this Harrison this is AWESOME I can hear your excitement and total shock. Plus I'm surprised when you say about food items aren't in canada.
nice to see you finally have a Big Boy
I have an identical AHM Big Boy in an identical box that I bought in the 70's when I lived in Sacramento, CA. While good looking, It has never run well, just like the AHM SP Cab Forward and Santa Fe Y6b (2-8-8-2) that I bought around the same time. If I ever build a layout, all three are candidates for a railroad museum siding or park displays.
If Harrison does a video on maintaining his new Big Boy, watch it. He's a very talented and quite intelligent re-furbisher of locos, and just watching him you could probably learn to make yours better runners. He's taught ME a thing or two!!

Nice gift box. Hershey makes Cadbury in the USA
You are so lucky, David ZTo G has given you loads again
Love that Bog boy look fantastic
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one at that!
David is literally SMTs grandpa that gives him anything he wants lol
And everything he didn’t know he did want
Exactly I’m suprised smt hasn’t gotten o scale locomotives from him lol
Quite so he really does give him a lot of some useful things for the railroad.Lol
Lol
Has first largest steam locomotive on his layout he going to fix it
Congratulations on your gifts.... The 4 8 8 4 Big Boy is the ultimate locomotive.... Even the coal car is impressive... many wheels. // I had one in N-scale many years back.... sold it.
Why you sell train
@@Captain_Trint - I was young. That scale was something that I used after being pushed to give up my 'O' gauge layout. N wasn't doing it for me.
Agreed with Shocks trains, it’s beautiful
Bigboy 4005 is the best! It has history!
The real big boy number 4005 has a bit of history as it was involved in on train wreck on the 27 April 1953 and thankfully it has been preserved on static display.
Please give me more information!
Big Boy's have a place on any railroad.
Modern Los Angeles Junction? Big Boy
Small Appalachian Mountain logging line? Big Boy.
A tiny 2x4 Switching line? Big Boy.
A Layout with only 15" turns? Just keep the Big Boy on the straightaways.
No Layout at all? A Big Boy would be perfect for you.
I live near downtown L.A. I would LOVE to see #4014 chugging around there!!!!
Great for moving cars on small industrial spurs too!
Yup, a Big Boy would be perfect there too :)

Harrison you're the Big Boy of model railroading! And your channel is getting BIG too!
Great video! You got some amazing stuff!
Those pretzel poptarts are the best! now i want some, and I just ran out yesterday... darnit!
OMG im super jelly. Big boy is my favorite steam engine of all time and im on a budget so it would take forever to get me one if i saved up and got nothin else till i did to get it and you where lucky enough to get one for free. You better take very good care of it
Congrats on getting a big boy smt welcome to the club of ho gauge big boy owners and David z to G scale u have treated him well thank u
Peeps are the best. We get them every time we go to the States
I did think smt was going to rick roll us. It just seemed so unreal
Samuel Olesek he said he thought that SMT was gonna but he didn’t
the big boy is the same exact one that I got from my dad for Christmas, same number as well. if you think it looks nice running by its self, you really need to see how beautiful it looks when pulling passenger cars. from one 'big boy' owner to another, i hope you enjoy running it, at any speed or what ever they are pulling, they look great running!
Was not big boys freight haulers
@@williamkolina3988 it was, but it looks nice pulling the streamlined passenger cars as well.
@@Jigoku_Samurai Please make a video on it! Please reply to me!

This went from SMT Trying peeps and unboxing memes and candy to unboxing a rivarossi bigboy. Probably the best video so far. My grandfathers y6b would approve of this with all the might it still has in it. Great work Harrison you are one lucky guy

Wow you have finally got a big boy! Congratulations SMT and David Z to g scale you are a very nice person.
Very nice gifts and a great act of generosity, can really tell how excited you are thats awesome!
What A Beautiful Engine...And A Great Haul! Nice Video SMT Mainline.
That Big Boy huge
You’re gonna need bigger layout...
Hey...that could be a fantastic excuse !!! Lucky Harrision...he isn't married. My wife wouldn't buy that excuse for a second!!! Hell...she wants the garage back as it is!!!
Tip for the old rivarossi steam engines: the tender usually picks up the power and through a metal pin and wire transfers it to the locomotive. this causes the connection to not always be stable. it runs great for an old rivarossi, and the only thing is the method of power transfer.
Thank you for this information. I recently purchased a Rivarossi Berkshire, and had no clue how to properly "maintain" it.
One could always solder a wire directly from the tender to the loco, thus making the connection a lot more stable. Use stranded, not solid wire. This would allow it to be more flexible. And if you can, use black insulated wire. Matches the loco better.
Anton Bruce It doesn’t need to be soldered with just a single wire, if you want to be able to separate the tender. A (small) plug allows the link to be broken, as needed.
Awesome gifts! I didn't know they made that many different kinds of Pop Tarts! Love the Big Boy.
Wow what an incredible gift, and your right we do not see half of the food products they have in the US.
4:45 omg my Dad bought me the same thing exactly for my trains when they need to be taken apart 🤣
I had to go back and find this video because I visited Big Boy 4004 today. Until you stand next to one of these locomotives, it's hard to comprehend how truly massive they are. It's easy to see why the Big Boy has such a following, it really is a marvel of engineering.
That big boy engine is lovely! My folks had a little Riverossi metal engine when I was a boy, still remember it chugging around our little layout.
Very nice Harrison! Sorry I havent been able to hop on to a livestream in awhile, been busy.

That is one if my most wanted vintage model trains!
Wonderful layout! The big boy model you have is a good runner, but uses a lot of power. Thanks for the video!
David z to g scale is an absolutely amazing person
Awesome!!!! I actually own a big boy as well but mine is a broadway limited and mine is made out of brass and mine has the smoke units for the whistle and chuffing smoke, and mine is numbered 4014!!
What a great video ! That bigboy is fantastic!! ,And the neon sign adds another touch!! Stay Safe and look after yourself...Steve,in Lancashire, England
Harrison, first, congratulations on your graduation! Peeps! My Mother loved Peeps. But . . . she would poke a hole in the package which would allow the Peeps to dry and harden. She liked them crunchy. Peeps do not exist on my edible items list. Nor do Pop Tarts. Great. Let's sugar-up Harrison on camera. David, you are quite the individual. Extraordinarily generous. Although difficult to see, I suspect that following the unboxing of the Big Boy Harrison was shaking with excitement. All of us would! And she runs. Really, really nice. Might need just a little SMT lubrication maintenance magic but what a beautiful locomotive and special gift. Harrison, if the opportunity EVER presents get yourself wherever UP is running the 4014. Just standing near a 600 ton locomotive is beyond awesome. Then listen to that dragon breathe. It brings the model to life. What a great box from David. Be cautious. Be safe. Be well. - P -
In our family, we liked the Peeps to get a bit rubbery, not hard, but definitely not soft. We discovered it when my sister opened up a carton of them and left them out of the plastic bag she should have put them back in when she was done.
Awesome video, Harrison! Really cool of David to send you the Riverrasi Big Boy! I tended up a little when you started running it because I thought it was going to side swipe your commuter coaches there for a minute, lol!
I think that is why it's articulated... to avoid those situations.
Amazing loco Harrison. You’ve earned it🤘🤘🤘🤘👏👏
I never thought I would see the day
And David z to g scales thank you
Beautiful locomotive......very happy for you 👍
I experienced your genuine joy! 👍
Two things one wow you should run that big boy a lot and 2 you got so much food the trains wow.
I freaked out when you said that you have never heard of Peeps! Also, looks like someone shopped at Ollies haha!
I was surprised that those pop tarts came from Ollie's, that store isn't too far away from where I live lol
I NEED to buy one of these.
Wow a Riverossi Big Boy many yrars ago when i was 14 years old .I seen then in the catalog & hobby stores & never got one in stead i bought a B& O. Passenger train.& couldn't find the streamlined tail car until 40 years later and finally got it. An E 7 pulls my B& O Until i got some Athearn PA 1 to haul it. Congrats on the big boy
That was an awesome unboxing!
You got a big boy thats amazing! That is so nice of David z to g scale to give you that! Thanks David!
Big boy is one of my favorite steam engines. Absolutely beautiful
Keep have a great time
That’s awesome. Glad you finally got one!!
Nice! I got the same 4005 as well. Got it running but still does not like to track well even on gentle curves.
Awesome, that will be quite the sight on the next stream :D
God, i would like a guy like that, god bless David
I LIVE IN SCRANTON PA
Peeps and moonpies are the best if you put them in the microwave for a few seconds
If they don't blow up all over your microwave!!!!
They don't blow up they just get bigger n better but will reach a point that they will no longer be a sweet treat but will be molten lava thats why its only for a few seconds
Congrats on the Big Boy! I’ve got two of those AHM models, just need to re-number one.
cool box of stuff you got, that city sign you have is fantastic
That's an awesome present!
Wow finally what a nice looking train
Wow Harrison! You and my sister share a graduation year! Congrats on 10k, Can’t wait for 100k!

The Big Boy looks right at home on the layout. The sign is awesome.
I seen that one big boy on Ebay for the last couple of months, now I know where it went when I went looking for it again lol.
Finally it happened nice job I’ve been fishing for summer nice to see how far you’ve made it so far
