May 26, 2024 2 Meter Band Opening KD5UZA Jackson Louisiana to Fort Worth Texas

I was scanning the 2 meter band this morning about 2am and heard something on 146.835. 5khz step in Texas is pretty rare, at least in my area. I was lucky to figure out the tone and was able to get in. There were at least 2 other repeaters on the same frequency coming in. Could have been an Arkansas repeater.

Wow, amazing band conditions over the past few days. I was able to talk to David in Stillwater, OK yesterday. The band appears open today also according to dxview. With the very active sunspot regions just turning back into earth facing view I expect there will be possibility of epic sporadic E as soft X-ray causes changes in electron density in the E-layer as my limited understanding of how the magic works.
