Personally i found the movie a bit Hallmarkesque. Good but two dimensional
Unfortunately the movie is devoid of spirituality. It is only the portrayal of a strong, determined, smart woman and her social justice work amid terrible prejudice and political corruption. There is not one mention of God, Jesus, prayer, mass, etc-nothing!
I agree. It would be more religiously powerful, if she said something along the line of "because they are children of God". And I'm not even religious.
I disagree, throughout the movie she quotes scripture, prayers continuously and is driven by the will of God. I found it astounding and a great movie to watch.

The movie was also filmed well, great cinematography! I am Sicilian with roots in “ little Italy” St.Joseph Parish . Prayer, was omitted, Rey disappointed in that.

It's time to abandon the New Testament version of Jesus Christ in favor of a historical small part player (very small) whose "story" was used as a blueprint for social change, a change that was exploited by many for personal gain (as illustrated by the Roman Catholic Church).
