    I like your style .Relaxed and steady.
    Rushing and speed are a recepie for disaster on ladders and scaffolding. Thankyou. Nice clear instructions.

    Great demonstration on working in those difficult areas. A perfect example of working safely and the ‘KISS’ principle.

    Awesome. Just what I needed to see. I’ve stripped vinyl wall paper off recent, need to get the paper backing off, then put a texture on and then paint. This is all in a stairwell with at least 19 foot ceiling.

    I use the same set up except that I double up the scaffold board for long spans and also clamp the ends of the boards to the ladder with quick release clamps. It takes a couple of minutes more but I feel safer. Good video.

      @PaintingandDecorating  Před 6 lety +7

      Yes, good scaffold although you shouldn't really have the board fixed in place it needs movement slightly. You just need to have no less than 12" overhang each end.

    Your a ledgend! I have a narrow passage way going upto the loft conversion and I just painted the walls and ceiling one colour because I couldn't do the cut ins. I couldn't reach the top of the walls. Il be using this method now. Nice one.

    You really should double up the boards as they need to be supported every 1.3 meters, it does actually say it on the bands on each end of the boards.

      Welcome to painting and decorating it's a great trade. Hard work lots of satisfaction. A telescopic ladder would be good as long as it's a tough one. Thanks

    I'm curious as to how you'd perform the same task above the stairs when it's a kite winder turn & the steps aren't squared to supporr the ladder. Do you have any tips/videos on that please?

  • @jdwebberonline

    I’d add in a cleat on either side of the plank with screws. Avoids clamps getting in the way, and stops the plank from shifting left/right under body movement.
    Also note: drop cloths under ladders can, in many instances be very dangerous, and may remove the grip you need to secure your ladder properly. Plan around them, stay safe, Cheers.

    • @PaintingandDecorating
      @PaintingandDecorating  Před 7 měsíci

      Your plank should not be fixed in place, that's dangerous. Never clamp. Or screw.

    • @jdwebberonline
      @jdwebberonline Před 7 měsíci

      @@PaintingandDecorating nothing unsafe about it, cleats are not fastened to the ladder directly. And yes don’t use clamps at all.

    You can you a 6-footer scaffold, set one side at highest at the bottom of the stairs and the other accordingly to level it up. Don't use the wheels for extra stability. I've been painting houses for 35 years.

    • @robertmetz5949
      @robertmetz5949 Před 10 měsíci

      6 foot ladder would not be sufficient for this application.

      Sometimes you have to workout how to have your scaffold set up. But without seeing can not say. We sometimes use planks in an L shape. But be very careful. Best to get a decorator. Not worth an accident.

    Is the wall you had the double ladder on solid or plasterboard?, if it’s plasterboard how would you set it up so you don’t pierce the board with the tops of the ladder!

      Make sure you wear your bib and brace and keep your tools on you. Two buckets and two steps one for upstairs and one for down stairs. Roller that screws on the end of your poll. Small ladder may be a blank.
