i just rewatched your "criticism of recent TW games", and this battle just highlights many of your points - you actually feel some *weight* behind the troops, and yuge maps like this made for great scenario battles
Very different battle for me, seeing that I normally play third age. But it still was very fun to play, thanks Sultan for the scenario and Pixie for uploading it!

It was an honor participating in this scenario, I must say it's quite different for me as I'm mostly roaming around in Third age or DaC (a reason why I suck at mangonelling), but it was good fun. Thank you for uploading this sir! (even if it was not my version of the replay) and thank Sultan for dedicating much of his time to make it.

nice unique battle. it forces the attacking force to take the towns and secure the outer area before attacking the walls or they'll get flanked during the wall assault

The Mongols wore brigandines. It may look like leather to you but the armour has layers of iron/steel plates riveted into the cloth or canvas which you mistake for leather.

Actually, rules for "conquer little cities first" make sense. Historically speaking, you want conquer/disable auxiliarry fortification around main bastion (which i think the little settlements should demonstrating). You want it, because troops in tese auxiliary bastions can harras you supply lines and can help defenders in main fortress. :)

after I watched this, I played like three battles like this
Medieval 2 and Napoleon/Empire are the only Total wars where i get on the edge of my seat and endulge in the tactics. Because you actually need good tactics in them unlike other total wars.
I really don't get how the invaders won. The defenders got amazing charges and all that, yet somehow...
It's because the turkofags attacked before the final village was taken
They didn´t attack, they just destroyed the wall which was allowed.
It's because Defenders never win sempai. ;)

We've gone full circle from Medieval II to Third Age scenarios to Medieval II scenarios.
I think it's time somebody made a mod that takes Third Age and slaps Medieval II's factions in there too (maybe with some unit stat changes because stats are different in Third Age). It's time we see Teutonic Knights vs. Swan Knights in a battle of who has the best helmets; Greek Firethrowers vs. Witchers; The Byzantine Empire facing off against the combined eastern threats of the Turks, Egypt, and Rhun; Morder vs. Mongols to see who has the biggest, baddest horde of them all!
AND MANGONELS IN THIRD AGE DANGIT!
