Wow this is an awesome idea to just use a damn empty box for the bass pedal! i cant afford to carry with me a huge expensive drum with a complex holder, so this set up would solve my issues, can't believe i haven't thought about this before! Lovely combo of instruments and a nice improvisation with a story.
Yes it's a rare one! It's also a rare model clarinet too! A 1950s Parisian Radio Model Buffet Crampon! So rich! :) If you enjoy this, you can pre-order our album here: www.indiegogo.com/projects/archer-tripp-vinyl-and-cd-pre-order/x/16505654#/
Really cool! I really like the sound of the alto contrasting with the soft cosmic sound of the integral hang. You play much more on the edgy, saxophonish side than on the classical basset horn one. I prefer cleaner and softer clarinet style of playing but here this rough texture is nice.
Hey Alex. Thanks so much for your comment! :) Sam writing here, I also much prefer in general to play softer, especially when playing soprano clarinet - but playing around with textures to serve a certain piece of music for what it wants to be is great fun! Thanks again! If you want to hear more - you can pre-order our new album on Vinyl or CD here: www.indiegogo.com/projects/archer-tripp-vinyl-and-cd-pre-order/x/16515997#/
Very beautiful atmosphere, thanks! Could you please give me some more details on the alto clarinet? It's an exceptionally beautiful sounding instrument ... also which mouthpiece are you using? Many thanks for info...
Beutiful composition, but I don't unterstand why to make the alto clarinet to sound almost like a sax. I was owning an alto clarinet (that I have sold just one month ago), and the sound of an alto clarinet can be really more interesting than this.
Hey, thanks so much for your comment. It's all taste and I personally find, for this piece, the rougher sound really suits to mood of the composition. I think the fact that instruments have a huge range of sound colours, it's fun to explore! 'Interesting' is subjective, but thanks so much for your feedback!
OK I fell in love with the alto clarinet 😍😍
:) Thanks Patrick. The Alto clarinet is definitely a beauty with its rich deep tones :)
I had one many years ago; had to sell it to pay the rent. Been regretting it ever since.

I play soprano, alto, and bass clarinet and am a fan of hangs. This is such a cool combo, please do more with these two instruments!

MANY THANKS. VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL.
And, by hand's position (relatively the bell) we can see that is indeed an Alto clarinet and not a basset horn.
Thanks so much! :)
yes! so good love the syncopation and the hand and bass clarinet sound

Hey! Thanks so much!! I am using a Vandoren 5RV mouthpiece. And the Alto Clarinet itself is a Buffet Crampon Radio Model series - I think from 1962.
nice :-) congrats & greetings from Kleve ;-) Daniel
Thank you!!! :)
parabéns, show
Thank you!
Très jolie
Merci! :)
What sort of mouthpiece and reed set up are you using on the alto clarinet?
5RV Vandoren mouthpiece with a Vandoren 2 reed in this video.
The softer reed has more bend in it, which we like for this piece. :)
