Weller just churned out the classics at this point in his career - this is a favourite of mine - tear-jerking beauty we can all relate too - brilliant stuff!
In your white lace and your wedding bells You look the picture of contented new wealth But from the on-looking fool who believed your lies I wish this grave would open up and swallow me alive For the bitterest pill is hard to swallow When the wheel of fortune broke, you fell to me Out of grey skies to change my misery The vacant spot, your beating heart took its place Now watch smoke leave my lips and fill an empty room For the bitterest pill is hard to swallow The love I gave hangs in sad coloured, mocking shadows The bitterest pill is mine to take If I took it for a hundred years, I couldn't feel any more ill Now autumn's breeze blows summer's leaves through my life Twisted and broken dawn, no days with sunlight The dying spark, you left your mark on me The promise of your kiss, but with someone else What a song, what a songwriter!
This reminds me of my ex girlfriend from London who broke my heart in 2018 i played this song to death when we broke up i used to be sad when i would hear this song now it doesn't bother me anymore
A song that helps you get through anything that has upset you in life

In your white lace and your wedding bells
You look the picture of contented new wealth
But from the on-looking fool who believed your lies
I wish this grave would open up and swallow me alive
For the bitterest pill is hard to swallow
When the wheel of fortune broke, you fell to me
Out of grey skies to change my misery
The vacant spot, your beating heart took its place
Now watch smoke leave my lips and fill an empty room
For the bitterest pill is hard to swallow
The love I gave hangs in sad coloured, mocking shadows
The bitterest pill is mine to take
If I took it for a hundred years, I couldn't feel any more ill
Now autumn's breeze blows summer's leaves through my life
Twisted and broken dawn, no days with sunlight
The dying spark, you left your mark on me
The promise of your kiss, but with someone else
What a song, what a songwriter!

What a song, I love Paul Weller. ✌️😙
I was 20 when this final EP was released in the US. It is as great now as it was in my younger years.
The saddest most beautiful song ever??
No, that's probably Lindsey Buckingham say goodbye to you 🤔😪
@@paulmetz1963 no, it's this one.
Best Jam song, end of!

When Loll hit her abusive Father over the head with a hammer in this is England '86'. Combo took the blame. She didn't hit him hard enough!!
So underrated
One of the few EPs I ever bought was The Bitterest Pill by The Jam.
2:13 鳩サブレー 🎶
Last single from the Jam. Weller was warming up for the Style Council.
Beat Surrender
This is England 86 end credits
What a fitting song to this is England, legendary choice

Looks like the boys in that photo are at St Katherines dock, London.
Degrassi. RIP JT
👌👍
I wish the video was available on CZcams but I think that there are LIE-censing issues.
Paul and Bruce. Sound great together. Is that female voice De Cee any body know?
it's jenny from the belle stars.

Perhaps the most 80s-sounding track out of the Jam's discography. If this was a little more rocky, I probably would like this way more.
A pity he broke them up. Much to his chagrin, what Weller did next was never as good as The Jam. You can't just replace Foxton and Buckler.
