So we're overdue some track repairs! Due to the number of drivers driving wayyy off track, some of our concrete edges are needing done again. Coupled with this we have found new places that the drivers like to run off track and take away the track edges. Driftland is crumbling away! But it's time to fix this drift track again, and armed with a tiny budget and little to no idea - Jeek, Kenny and Stu set about doing some concreting and other nice repairs.
Jeek also orders 20tonnes of road planings and has spread these up and down the pit lane - a job which took many many hours. He takes some time out to explain why we're NOT GOING TO TARMAC THE PITS and hopefully gives a little insight into some more of the behind the scenes work involved. Hope you guys enjoy - leave a like and comment if you did!
Driftland is the UKs only purpose built Japanese style drifting arena, built for all motorsport enthusiasts as a place to experience drifting at every level, from beginners taking their first steps to international competitions showcasing some of the finest talent the world has to offer.

Is it just me or are other people subbed to this channel just for the 'life of a track owner/keeper' videos? Great stuff!
I think most people!
That and the wish crap
Great video. These BTS and Track maintenance videos are the best. Helps people understand how much work is running a circuit.
thanks buddy! the why race tracks hate drifters video was popular but most of the rest haven't been. but it keeps things real i guess to see what's actually happening
That mixer looks savage for doing rings 😂
Its great to see these behind-the-scenes clips. Tracks like yours deserve more credit for the maintenance and upkeep required!
awesome, thanks for thinking of us, gotta keep it ticking over, its horrible to see the damage when you get close up to it all.!
Thanks for doing the grunt work, keeping all fingers & toes, no safety vest clipboard buracracte involved, and saving a track for the people, cheers mates!
awesome, thanks for thinking of us, gotta keep it ticking over, its horrible to see the damage when you get close up to it all.!
I love these as well as the drift vid's . Ain't easy working a drift park.
Love the insights from these videos, so much goes into running that place that I wouldn't have thought of. Top job lads!
thats great to hear! thankyou very much
The music was on point this time
yeah enjoyed it!
It is/was one of my biggest dreams to have my own track. But after watching this I (and probably a lot of other ppl) will re-consider this haha.
Great informative vid guys! thnx :D
thankyou very much!
All your videos are really entertaining, keep up the good work lads!
awesome, thankyou so much!
Hi jeek I would recommend that once you put down the plannings use a 120 roller that will bind in the planning better.( I know you don’t have 1 but it would make the planning last better.
yeah don't have one unfortunately it would be nice though!
Brilliant work Kenny and stu
what a shift from those hunky gents!
Keep up the great work thanks for the content
very welcome, comments like this keep us going!
I always enjoy the behind the scenes videos, looked like a ton of work ya got done 👌
So sad that I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up with rebar in it 😂
thanks buddy, the're not always the most popular but it keeps things real showing what's actually happening. hope it lasts OK this time!
On some of the corners maybe put those plastic barriers or concrete ones more tap points and it will save the edge of the track win win for you plus more footage of wall taps
Problem with that is if you are creating a barrier of any kind you have to get the track certified again. Which costs money. What they are doing here is not modifying the track at all therefore doesn't require safety certification.
@@Cragified Would adding a couple traffic cones count as adding barriers? Cars can usually hit those with approximately zero damage. Might add a "I don't want to hit that" element still. Edit: LIke the triangular "American" Autocross cones, not the ones with the heavy rubber bases.
We cant use barriers due to the damage they may cause vehicles and it would prevent the track being used for other activities unfortunately too. covered a lot in the comments of our other track based video too: czcams.com/video/_CC0lOV-ni4/video.html
Anything that doesnt cause damage becomes a "target" and will create FOD on track meaning we have to repeatedly stop track.
if i ever make the trip out.....can i play with the digger
diggerland is next if it all goes wrong
DriftlandTV why not both!?!?
Using a shovel dig when there's s DIGGER sittin there fs fellas always use hydrolic pressure over blood pressure 👍🏻
gotta put the guns to work for the ladies
I love this channel
I don't own a track lol, but I can kinda imagine your pain when a car goes off track, given that the area they needed to stay on was almost half a mile away from the edge...
Mistakes do happen though.
The worst part is that you would think that adding concrete on those parts fix the problem but track users are just like "It's free real estate" and run even wider and eventually dirt drop again even tho they added a meter of concrete.
yeah it's something we have to take on the chin, all we can do i try and educate and change attitudes.
its the same with kart tracks, put kerbs in to keep people away from the grass and they end up going all 4 wheels on the kerb and grass
great work tho, yer da's a smart man. all them years selling avon he knows what sticks
avon market is bursting round our way!
Very much just enjoy listening to you lot chat shit to eachother
Keep it up
thanks buddy glad you enjoyed! we get a lot of people saying we talk too much but comments like yours keeps the channel going!
Nah theyre the same ones sat in their stained pants eating pot noodles.
Hope to skid driftland one day 🙏
How about getting some of those plastic link together jersey barriers that are half filled with water to put on the track limits in places?
sounds a) like they would be a target b) will cause damage and c) spill water
unfortunately our other track activities and hires prevent barriers so we'll have to try and just educate and help drivers lessen the mistakes. this is just remedial stuff though in order to try protect the tar a little bit!
Have you lads ever done a video on how and why you came to be in the positioning of running the track?
an oldie, not by us but featuring us czcams.com/video/oQolaq9zwGM/video.html
Try spraying watered down pva on the road shavings then roller them out, will last much longer!
we don't have access to a roller unfortunately!
need some spring loaded clipping points, stu could make them outta b&q for about 10r each
haha! they'd work once at least!
Where you've put that strip of cement/concrete, can you not get hold of the massive concrete barriers to put around the edge of the vulnerable bits? Or spike strip?
no barriers buddy bad for business! covered a lot in the comments here: czcams.com/video/_CC0lOV-ni4/video.html
@@DriftlandTV
Ah ha. I remember now. I must be a sadistic fuck cos I'd have all sorts of shit to stop people ripping up the track XD
are concrete barriers expensive it would be worth a look if theyre not it would stopp most the maintenance other then straightening them when they get hit theyd last longer then concrete edges and you could leave gaos and only use them whete people arr falling off the track
We cant use barriers due to the damage they may cause vehicles and it would prevent the track being used for other activities unfortunately too. covered a lot in the comments of our other track based video too: czcams.com/video/_CC0lOV-ni4/video.html
what about adding "grip paint" to the spots they are not suppose to drive on? then they'll shred the tyres quicker.... might be worth a look?
doesn't sound like a good idea at all sorry, but thanks for your comment!
So gutted Jeek left and we never found out why
Usually when asphalt/concrete cracks upp it's because off the graund shifting around under = not sutable for asfalt/concrate. But if people are not supose to drive there, then why do you do this work?
because if you create a flat edge between tar and concrete it stops the tar being destroyed. much cheaper to have the concrete edge destroyed.
Dangle a sign on the inside of the track. Make some sort of reward for tapping that clipping point and entice drivers to stay on the other side of the track
every driver would claim to hit it. and they'd also ruin the track on the inside. think of drivers as "what could go wrong, will go wrong"
@@DriftlandTV I meant like have a post far in the grass area with long arm that hangs something like a sign or water balloons
Run the digger up and down the gravel to track roll it and pack it down it might last a bit longer
that happens in the video, a lot
Premium pit area here we go
unfortunately not something we have control over
Rusty Rebar is not bueno, Probably better than none though.
hopefully.
Whats the intro song??
it's stuff from Artlist, copyright free
It's a fucking crater! JEEK!
STAY OAN THE TRACK.
Geeez!! Use water wen cutting concrete !! Cancer clouds otherwise !
Stu Lungs
Wish I could come help you .could of used my skills
next time buddy always looking for people to ruin themselves
smash a bunch of wine bottles in half and place them pointy end up into the wet cement.
people will actively avoid that part of the track.
problem solved.
also..
you poured the cement wrong. lol
haha they're in cars, they're not dogs or burglars
why not set up concrete barriers to protect the track and give the drifters something to wall tap
We cant use barriers due to the damage they may cause vehicles and it would prevent the track being used for other activities unfortunately too. covered a lot in the comments of our other track based video too: czcams.com/video/_CC0lOV-ni4/video.html
So u own the track but not pits
?
its complicated buddy
DriftlandTV ye I’m slightly confused 😂
Just make a curb like on sidewalks
huge no. rollovers, lots of damage etc.
@@DriftlandTV that'll teach a lesson
Whats happening with your car Jeek?
Just needs painted but we're real busy just now and bdc next weekend too
⚠️☢☣⚠️☢☣⚠️
quite
@@DriftlandTV Haha sowrry keep up any vids love yas
Should probably just concrete the pits tbh
Explained in the video why we can't touch the pits
Can't you just add tyre walls or those concrete road works barriers to stop the dirt drops and deter people from going so close to the edge you wont need to keep extending the track
We cant use barriers due to the damage they may cause vehicles and it would prevent the track being used for other activities unfortunately too. covered a lot in the comments of our other track based video too: czcams.com/video/_CC0lOV-ni4/video.html
@@DriftlandTV what about using the plastic red and white ones that you are in front of in the beginning of the video you linked me and you could move them for other events or will other car damage still the issue?
@@w4ddo456 they will absolutely murder those barriers in seconds. red rags to a bull. it's like you're giving them target practice!
@@DriftlandTV I don't know what else to do then dude there not there to hit maybe make a rule of not hitting them surely everyone at the track isn't that bad at drifting? I guess you just have to keep extending the track till there is no grass or gravel pits left lmao
Why don't you build the concrete up higher than the track? Not so steep that you're smashing rims on it but enough that it'll unsettle the car, promoting drifters to get close but not go over. I might be over looking something, just a thought.
Or make lines in it so it makes noise and vibration when you drive on it.
That could be good but the ridges would likely need more repair over time.
any change in height to cause any sort of deterrent will also cause damage, risk of rollovers, ruin our MSA approval, prevent the track from being used for other disciplines, and cause all of our risk assessments and insurance to have to be re drafted, negotiatated and expensed. thanks though we did think of it but there's too many prohibiting factors.
@@DriftlandTV Ah fair enough didn't think of any regulatory limitations.
Also, if you were to raise the concrete above the tar, even if it's a curve or at an angle, people will still hang their arse over it, it would erode faster. Plus, if you give a drifter more tar or concrete, they will push it to the edge of that and end up ragging the shit out of the edge as in their minds it's more track to fuck with.
What you moaning for, of course the track is going to get ruined, you wanted to run the track man up and deal with it or give up
oh dear, another one of these type. it doesn't have to get ruined actually. see the comments and explanations here.czcams.com/video/_CC0lOV-ni4/video.html
