The Zendaya thing annoys me because she's been killing it for so long that if she has a look that isn't head and shoulders above everyone else ppl say it isn't good. No she was better dressed than 99% of attendees she just didn't outdo other looks you've seen HER do

Listen when I first saw the look I felt like you did but after I took in the entire look and not just the dress I was sold. Her makeup, the hair, the back, and her posing on the carpet took the look over the top. The overall style and look did it for me.
That's what I said. She does the most and incorporates hair, makeup and acting into her appearances. It makes the difference, brings the theme to life and separates her from the rest. Jlo I think is supposed to represent the glass/crystal flowers in the garden. Bad bunny seems to be representing the more metaphorical telling of destruction, uncycling and renewal. So this deconstructed kind of look also makes sense to me.
Yes, I think J Lo's look was inspired by the crystal time flowers from JG Ballard's short story A Garden of Time. A lot of the critics don't seem to know that the short story was part of the theme.
I think Bad Bunny’s was a reference to the actual exhibition about how garments are maintained with the deconstructed suit look (also playing with time, suits in the past, etc), and the last look is a very clear reference to the short film ‘garden of time’ which is pretty cool, and shows that they did their research!!
Oh my gosh, you are the first person i agree with about all of these looks. I couldn't have said it better myself. I thought the Met was boring and underwhelming this year. They could have really pushed it and gone with a lot color or just over all more interesting looks. The possibilities were endless with this theme and yet they did not deliver.
Bad Bunny's was great! It's very fairy tale-esque, with the old fashioned footwear, the nod to old fashioned military silhouette and details. He looks like a fantastical character from a dreamy, somewhat surreal tale set in an enchanted garden
Garden of time theme is based on the short story by JG Ballard. The story is ultimately about how the structures of opulence (the count and his wife) and exorbitance (the garden) are being threatened by an incoming mob of a army, the sick, and the common folk. To keep the mob at bay the count uses the crystal flowers but it's a resource that's limited and running out. Ultimately the theme elements are ethereal, crystal, opulence, rococo, classical, baroque, RIIICH.
I feel like with the "Garden of Time" theme, many celebrities just completely ignored the time part and solely focused on garden since that is easier.🤷
I ADORE the colors of zendaya's dress and the details. It's very dark and mysterious which I love. Garden of time you'd expect to see golds whites and greens but this isn't it, which is perfect.
1999 Dior SS y’all. The pieces from that collection are incredible and consistently off putting to our modern fashion. (veryyyy 90’s!) It’s supposed to look a little crazy. Law saw archival and they did it on theme. The point is that it’s not what we expected, from Dior or Zendaya. Not every piece needs to be timeless, I love that it’s very much so a product of it’s time, kinda the point of the exhibit!! I find it fascinatingly gorgeous.
I lovedd Zendaya's fit. It is true that she has indeed set the bar up high for herself. She has been slaying constantly esp ever since Dune 2 press, like girl has not had one miss.
The double outfit really put Zendaya at the top
I feel like with the "Garden of Time" theme, many celebrities just completely ignored the time part and solely focused on garden since that is easier.🤷
Low key zendaya giving Latina vibes
I ADORE the colors of zendaya's dress and the details. It's very dark and mysterious which I love.
Garden of time you'd expect to see golds whites and greens but this isn't it, which is perfect.

Elle Fanning should be the talk of the MET.
I absolutely adore the dress. No technicality involved in my opinion. I think she looks amazing and on theme
I like Zendaya's outfit, reminds me beautiful statues in a garden
The way he said garden-of-time on the last guy 🤣
I lovedd Zendaya's fit. It is true that she has indeed set the bar up high for herself. She has been slaying constantly esp ever since Dune 2 press, like girl has not had one miss.
And the met gala fit is amazing as well. To me it perfectly encapsulates the theme, she looked liked a woodland fairy and the make up was so.on.point. Her second look was a slay was as well.
Tyla and Emma were my favorites. It's easy to do flowers/garden but they took on a whole other dimension to the theme
I feel like Emma feels like a greek parka, those that oversaw time. So i kinda like it
I agree with all you mentioned. Zendaya looked fabulous as in fashion but it was not much of the theme. Still one of the best ones. Love her!
Someone on Instagram said, and I quote: "JLo paid Schiaparelli to make a Zuhair Murad dress ...."
just putting that statement out there 💁🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️......
Agreed!! As always you hit it on the nail.
Honestly, I think that color is too harsh for Zendaya ‘s skin tone. I would love and prefer to see this dress on a dark skin girl. Love the makeup though. Second Zendaya outfit -I absolutely love the headpiece however, the dress was simply ok to me.
Thought the same on Zendaya until I realized she had several outfits.
Dayyyummmmm (damn)
Zendaya reminds me of Cruella
Just love it
I thought it was just me. I wanted more. I liked the makeup looks a lot.
Zendaya actually had two met gala outfits and i think the second one was amazing as well, maybe better to other people.
Idunno what Grapes of Wrath is about, but I imagine Zendaya is in it looking just like that.
I don't have high expectations, it looks beautiful to me, i can't criticize it.
Zendaya giving Tim Burton beetle juice
Yes!! Exactly what I thought! 😂
I expected more from Zendaya. I feel like a lot of people say she looks good just bc it’s Zendaya
I called it last night that she would be wearing this dress but the og one. Honestly
.....I wanted more too. I was hoping for something from Guo Pei
I also thought this look was not the best (save for the makeup, it's gorgeous), but Zendaya's SECOND look??? With that bouquet on her head??? Oh my goodness that look was everything and more !!!
She did really good though. Compared to everyone else. I feel she doesn't owe us crazy cause this is still within her style
Idc what yall say but Zendaya owned that red carpet
The only one that stood out for me was that beautiful sari!!!
I absolutely love how you interpret high fashion in such an artful sophisticated way. Makes me feel like I could be apart of the elites 😂❤
Zendaya just pull out another dress that’s is sooo much better in my opinion. However, I do believe people need to relax about her not being the best dressed all the time. Like people are almost scared to say that is underwhelming? She would be fine, we all be fine 😅
I can’t wait to see your full video, because of Zendayas second dress!!!
