  • How to mount a Wing to a Backplate! (with & without a tank adapter) Josh continues his series on diving the minimalist way, with a wing and backplate. Wings come in different "flavors" and varieties so we show you two methods to mount a wing, without and with a single tank adapter. Also, Josh will show you two different types of common tank bands, the "quick release" and regular cam-band with cam-buckle, and he'll show you how to use and mount both and weave the regular cam-buckle!
    YOU CAN WIN THIS CUSTOM EVERYTHING SCUBA BACKPLATE! (In addition we are giving the winner the Hogarthian harness, and a wing to complete their BP/Wing setup!) Check out the video at this link for this contest and it's rules!

    Finally, a video that explains when you do or don’t need a single tank adapter. Glad I found this!

    Great video Josh. You take the guess work out of setting up gear. I love showing people the the numbers "trick" on their cam bands. It's crazy how many divers show up to the boat with their straps routed incorrectly.

    I just put your rock exactly as described, and $275 for materials from home depot…. Still it’s a great design

    Thanks for the video!!! One question, where do you find those 2” neoprene sleeves you use to keep the end tidy?

    Hey Josh,
    thanks a lot for the video!
    which size of book screws should be used to attach the Apeks wing to the Apeks steel backplate without a STA?
    The 3/4 or 3/8 ones?
    Couldn't find info on this.
    Thanks!

    Do you have to use the book bolts I’ve heard some people don’t like them

    • @everythingscuba
      @everythingscuba  Před 2 lety +3

      Jacob, no you do not have to use book bolts. You could use stainless bolts with a nut. Most backplates have plenty of space in the spine bend to accommodate a wing nut for diving doubles, plus they are only there to hold the wing in place on the backplate when not using a single tank adapter. I use them on my single tank rig, but not on my doubles rig. Safe diving, Josh

      Julian, Tank bands can be found at your local Dive shop or online retailers such as Dive Right In Scuba or even Amazon. We are big fans of the Apeks/Aqualung Griplock bands.

    that grip lock style locking mechanism is unreliable and can easily open. I had to put a velcro around to secure it. be wary
