Man, this needs more images and descriptions.
I love these videos. Informative and necessary to understanding the nba and realistic expectations for teams
Bobby should become the commissioner of the Big 3.
It's still confusing. I guess trade exemptions are now worthless and nobody is going to buy second round draft picks anymore.
Fr he needs a “Apron for idiots” for video.
The CBA makes more sense when you read it. Easier to understand.
Not necessarily. Only teams in over the luxury tax by 17.5M or more fall into the apron. Essentially it’s a step towards parity, in that rich teams can’t just keep getting richer using a bunch of legal nonsense and loopholes to stack their rosters. Smaller teams will still buy second round picks and use exceptions.
Trade exceptions aren’t worthless for most teams. The simple way to look at it is:
*2nd Apron Teams- Can’t use any trade exception
* 1st Apron Teams: Can’t use old trade exceptions, but can create/use new ones.
* The other 20ish Teams: can use old exceptions and can create/ use new ones as well.
@@SmiththebatI’m still baffled that the celtics can afford their top 5..
Paul George to the sixers sound kinda good ngl
Yeah, seems like PG or Klay will get an offer.
Presti is a genius! 4 guys for Haywood on an expiring before June freeing up near $30 mill.
OKC is fine until Chet / Jalen Williams gets their extensions.
The clock is ticking though. They better win a title while they have Chet and Jalen Williams under their rookie deals.
@@Hopper830 Thought OKC would be able to get away with some lower than max. Timing is off though.
SGA, Chet, J Williams, Dort (team option) will cost $143.5M in '26-27. Luxury tax line will be $206M.
Giddey extension?, Other Jaylin extension? Dieng? K Williams / Cason are on the last year of a rookie deal for 14.5M combined.
Yeap, money gets tight. And, SGA is up for another extension in '27-28. They'll need to tighten up their roster and backfill with cheap draft rookie contracts.
strong back to school vibes from that.
Fix your sound. ESPN this is embarassing.
Where are these slides?
His Twitter
Where the graphics at?
Crazy question I don’t think you answered. Is Boston in the second apron able to trade a big contract like Tatum and take back 2 or 3 smaller contracts up to the same number Tatum makes or less? Just asking thank you I understand you can’t agrigate players out but what about in? Thanks for all your work
Yes. It has to match dollar for dollar or Boston doesn’t get the difference. You can still trade Tatum for lesser contracts but you lose money if the disparity between contracts is big.
Either that OR you just can’t aggregate at all. But I assume you just can’t work your way up with aggregation. The whole goal of these rules is to promote parity.
@@Smiththebat Not exactly. If Tatum makes $50M, the Celtics can only receive back $50M in salaries. Not a penny over. In the past, you have a variance (not sure of the exact amount).
And, the sending team will be restricted by their own rules and what apron they are slotted.
Like the content but maybe you need to explain this to me like I’m 5. 😂
More money, more problems
I’m more confused than I was prior to watching this…
100% same. Clear as mud.
They really trying to stop Miami 😂
They should give these rules at least a year for teams to plan. They just spring these rules for the next 2-3 months is kinda jacked.
They gave them a year already
These rules are absolutely good for the league. Big markets can suck it.
the biggest hurdle to the new CBA it hurts teams like OKC and GS before them who drafted and developed well and decide to keep their own players. In retrospective unless you're a big market team who generates serious revenue or a championship caliber team theres no logical reason to even go into the 1st or 2nd apron. However we cant feel sorry for billionaires if you wanna compete for a chip youre going to spend $$ and possibly overpay to keep your core guys otherwise youre likely losing em for nothing. Also its going to force the 1st/2nd apron teams to draft well and hope they hit on those picks e.g. GSW hitting on Podz and TJD bc the role players you do get are likely going to be on vet minimum deals likely back end rotation pieces!!
Still don’t understand what an Apron is? 3:01
No more blockbuster deals with these new rules
Not amongst high salary teams, which is why they made this. Some teams who are in the right combination of contending and large market have historically just gone P2W, and dealt with it.
This (supposedly) makes it harder for the rich to get richer.
The league did it to slow down the Warriors spending.
No necessarily- a team like Dallas could trade someone like Kyrie to the Cavs for like D. Mitchell. That would still be considered a blockbuster. (Not that, that specific trade would actually happen, but just an example to show blockbuster trades could still happen.) It does limit the possibilities though.
If team are under the apron...nothing stopping those teams to trade their stars.
In a nutshell, NBA killed its offseason excitement. You are trading one for one. Or one for one.
But what you arent doing is making contenders in the off season.
Amusingly, the Warriors might duck the luxury tax line.
😢 I'm dumb n don't understand it. Can someone tell me the dumb down to a 3 year old version ?
I love Bobby😫🥵
Can someone tell me how this would benefit the Pistons if at all
Detroit can buy ANYTHING they want
A simple chart or white board would have been more clear and saved a lot of repeating.
i'm into the business of sport... i checked out on this vid after 5 minutes and didn't understand anything you said. It just sounds like rambling if you don't use graphics and real life examples with the figures attached. Rather than talking in generalities
Is Bobby a clippers fan like me?? Cause he calls them “Clips” everytime…every other team calls them by their full location name or team name
New Jersey / Brooklyn Nets memorabilia in the background 🤓
It’s just because he can’t call them Los Angeles. Because of the Lakers. So he is nickname team name guy who prefers referring to teams by their City if possible lol
@@hooperflash_he worked for the Nets
Hall of Fame yapping right here
I love Bobby😫🥵
would you take the pistons job?
this is kinda crazy lol
Free country but too much rules 😂
all this apron talk… the GMs better get cooking
This guy is talking like we are in a classroom and people are taking notes...He sucks at explaining things without visual cues.
We should just get rid of the salary cap altogether....
I’m sure Bobby is a smart guy and all, but he’s an awful awful presenter. Have this guy help produce content but make someone else actually talk to the public.
😂 That was a tough listen
The problem is you prioritize being entertained over being informed.
@@BlackLuxLife Strong assumption. I don’t know you comment weirdo. Take a speech class and tell me if saying umm and stuttering is effective communication.
@@BlackLuxLife You literally run an account that glamorizes wasteful luxury items. Talk about entertainment
Rules? Lol. It's the NBA. They always do whatever they want. The players and the owners.
No actually these rules do have an impact. But you know ignore facts.
This guy confused himself.
No need to make this video.
They really want to kill off the Warriors next dynasty.
