- Up until a few weeks ago I'd never heard of a northern Thai curry dish called Khao Soi, which is mainly eaten in the north. It is also eaten in Laos and Myanmar and possibly originates in Burma. Virtually impossible to find in Pattaya but we are on a wild goose chase in search of Khao Soi.
Excellent video as always guys thank you
Brilliant work again thanks Nick and Pat 👌👍 more vlogs please
Nick, great vlog and a genuine wing man.....top marks
You really do some great food videos highlighting some interesting restaurants around Pattaya.
First time I see your show, I will be watching today. Thanks guys. Icecy x
Hi Icecy, I watched you on Reeshard Travels last night. Tonight we're live at 10pm see you later. 🙏

Great pitcher's
Great video guys big thumbs up

Liking your new style videos with Pat. 👍👍
Nick m8
this is Sam the moroccan
this one was absolutely above the level
congrats m8
you're hiding the right way
all the best m8
Thanks Sam
Soi 2 where it all began for me and 5 mates in 97 at the sabai lodge now flattened.. it seems posher and less of a thai feel ? Nice little vlog nick...pat seems a nice fella and explorer. Keep going 👍
Good vlog Nick very uplifting love Naklua fish market watched many a sunset up there tucking into a 2kg portion of prawns with those spicy dips , Khao Soi the thicker the sauce the better IMHO yum
Thanks Paul👍
Love this kind of thing rather than the live streaming ,i could literally see the kilo's dropping of you two on that walk in the heat 555.And not a single bottle of water between you 🤷♂️Walked the baht bus route many times in the heat .Clears the head .Pat seems a top bloke, and is full of funny one liners 😁
Nice video, Nick, and "Have Belly Will Travel' - love it! :)
Thanks Larry.
I will remember that place!
Spot on Nick, it originates from Burma and border towns in Thailand.
Allegedly translation means crispy rice, soft noodles served with ?
Why crispy rice no idea!
That was a walk! Had a fair bit of Kao Soi up here in Chiang Mai recently. See ya next weekend lads.
Hey Ray , you still in Thailand! Haven’t seen you on the stream lately? Take care 🙏
@@Tex_Symbol69 Yip, still here Tex, just another month to go for this trip. Then back November.
Another great video gents, been following your food videos for a while now Nick when in Pattaya we go to The Flying Vegetable restaurant at least twice every Holiday.......
Few notes Nick. 1. Egg noodles not rice noodles. 2. The veg condiment is pickled mustard greens. 3. 155 Baht is insane for Khao Soi. It’s like 35/40 in Chiang Mai and 75 in Bangkok 😂
Hard to find here prices way over the top.
I pay 35bht in my local restaurant in lamphun
Hi Nick. I have been to that S&P many times, also the the one on the Ground Floor of The Royal Garden Plaza! The food is so inexpensive and so tasty! 👍🇬🇧
S&P is very good.
Great information
Thanks dear
Wow, walking forever in 40'c heat in search of a refreshing Khao Soi? I love it, but only with continuous drip of water to keep cool.
Nick and Pat stomping down the Soi .......boiling heat.....but both they march happily along......exchanging banter.......enthusiasts both they are in the pursuit of some new sights and some fine dining.......one things for sure Nick.......I would recognise both of you plodding down the Soi from a thousand yards......😀😉.......you and Pat could cover some distance as you both chat happily as you plod along....👍👌
I don't blame you Pat....many a man would of settled for a bag of poor rice but you just marched on chewing the fat with Flip Flop Nick.....you need to get him a pair of sandles that look more comfy as he drags those flops about.....😂😂😉
Really professional filming and production quality you have now. That’s my favourite Thai curry too but you rarely see it on menu’s.
Thanks Mark
Id not classy it as a curry?? More of spicy noodle soup. I live in Chiang mai and eat it 2 or 3 times a week
This video is reminding me of why I try to visit in February and March. 40° every day is just too hot for me.
Love Kao Soi, eaten it many times in Chiang Mai.
I know you’re a pattaya veteran nick but I’m delighted for Pat in finding a new life there and you engaging him in the videos, he seems like a good guy. There is a saying “We all have 2 lives, the second one begins when we discover that we only have 1”
@Pattaya Pat Well done Pat you made it around l was getting worried for you mate.
Hey Nick and Pat, I use to have my Khao Soi in Pattaya at Paniad Chang sai 5/1. Paniad Chang is also known as Soi Yume. There is this small khao soi shop very close Sukhumvit road left side If you walk from Soi Yume. Hopefully its still there...
Khao Soi is one of my favourite thai dishes and its hard to find from Pattaya. One day its full on Khao Soi week in Chiang Mai for sure. Stay safe from CHCH NZ
You can get Khao Soi at terminal 21 3rd Floor for 45baht. It's very good. The first Thai food stall as you walk in after you get your token
Very good Nick. How bout the best moo daddyo in Pattaya?
No wonder Pat as Nick had you pounding every street in Pattaya looking for a Scran......you the ever gentlemen just plodded on in soaring heat.....your a legend Pat...I salute you Sir....😇👍😉
La Ferme just past T21. Absolutely the best Khao Soi in Pattaya (best in Thailand, I lived in Chiang Mai) served in a stunning restaurant
Thanks you Paul I will check them out.
Love khao soi, chiang mai is the place
Khao soi outside of the North is very hard to find and come across, in chiang mai had some amazing khao soi. Find it pretty mad as Thailand is obsessed with food that it isn't easily got outside of the North. By the way brilliant videos, wish you all the best.
Thanks mate.
Tree house Nick is awesome should do a video there
Always enjoy your adventures. great walk. was hoping to get down there for visa and beers next month but that's not going to happen, see you when the bars open
I reckon mid June to mid July they might surprise us earlier but unlikely. Some locals seem to think opening start of June but this is when max vaccine rollout begins so I can't see it. Saying that only 60,000 officially live in Pattaya.
I love Kao Soi!! I have my spot in Bangkok that I like. 90 baht for a large bowl. I prefer the chicken leg version personally. I usually can't finish it in one go and eat it with rice for a second meal. :)
Give us the name of this place in Bangkok..? Thank you....
@@michaelg.1832 I don't know the name. It's on the sukhumvit 23 side of Interchange 21. If you're coming out of Interchange 21 turn right, you'll see a shrine and small food stand they sell lots of versions of Kao Soi and some Briyani.
In Central Festival you can also get Khao Soi down in the food court. It's a lot cheaper there and probably better as well! At least last time I was there (2 years ago). I like almost all the Thai curries but Khao Soi is my favorite by a mile. Great video, and u definitely had your exercise 😉
The clips at the start of the video, Pattaya new channel do you have a website or link. I would love to get that channel as well sir.
Pattaya News on CZcams I just use the voice of AJ.
So where is the best kao soi. I couldn't find it anywhere but I bought some ready made mixes from CM Airport to bring back to Pattaya....Soi all the time in SnP!!!!! The other two great Thai curries are Masaman and Penang but gaeng hung lay, a CM curry is the best Thai curry..but where to get it in Pattaya
som sak resturant still kicking ?
BIG C pattaya klang foid court, 2nd stall down... Kaow soi moo or khao soi nua.... Lovely 60B 👌😋👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Look for the Northern Thai Curry called Hang Lae ฮังเล . If you recall I mentioned it to you in the car on the way back from the Skydive. It’s a pork curry with ginger, not very spicy but delicious. I have found at least one place in Pattaya that offers it but I won’t spoil your search unless you ask me to.
Next on the list Karl and I could swear it was you who told me about Khao Soi??
I'm asking lol
Where is the best place?
@@NDTViThailand Probably would have mentioned it in the same conversation as they’re both Northern specialities. Khao Soi is a lot more well known though.
@@NDTViThailand Can’t remember the name but go into Big C on Pattaya Klang and turn right (Ground Floor) It’s the last place on the right and serves coffee and food. Maybe it’s called ****Canyon? I can’t remember for sure but I think it’s a chain so there might be a branch in some other Big C’s as well
Yes Black Canyon. Food in there is very good. Thanks Karl.
I agree with you about Soi 2. I used to drink there. I remember seeing them being demolished on one of my trips, it was sad to see. I hope this doesn’t happen to Soi 7.
The thing with soi 7 is it has 2 very good hotels.
Lovely it’s so tasty ow lovely I am from a Romany heritage we have Joey grey but bacon 🥓 pudding is lovely 😊 yes cabbage boiled bacon 🥓 tatters kushty in kao soi it’s lovely 😊
Nick what was the name of the place you found that curry?
S&P and they are everywhere.
thanks nick,if/when i get back i will go for it.
drone shots are absolutely incredible. you should get mark weins on a live show when everything goes back to normal.
Yeah that would be a big hit. I think he's now like a big business even as his own camera crew.
Chicken Khao Soi in my favorite, got a few places in Chiang Mai....
Where i can find the best TOM YAM KUNG in Pattaya.... ? Now my number 1 is restaurant Moon Aroi in Naklua... but its a little bit far... can you help me ?
A good question Tom Yam is one of my favourite dishes. Where is the best? Need to look into it. Traditional would be in a big pot lit on fire.
Love to see you eat Durian
I like it and I don't and what I mean by that is the variations. I don't like the sour I prefer the custard sweet flavour.
Khao soi is definitely my favourite Asian dish.
I'd honestly never tried it before.
@@NDTViThailand if you ever go to Chang Mai Khao soi Is a must
Definitely. It has been some years since I visited but really need to get back there.
My favourite in Chiang Mai was a Pork and Ginger curry called something like Gang Hung Lay. Like Khao Soi it's not very spicy but full of flavour.
Gang Hung Lay is next on the list. 👍
last time i was there they were still building it .
Great video lads. Nick, is there anywhere in Pattaya that does Vietnamese food? Visited Saigon few years ago, food was unreal. Pho was class
Yes there's a few places one near to Terminal 21
Hey nick
How is everything?
Hi Chip I'm good thanks mate.
I hear you can find lots of clams on Soi 6. But not sure I'd eat one. Lol
Got too try them once...!
I order two in one meal. My eyes were not bigger than my ........
A beautiful noodle soup (curry) originating from Burma and pronounced ‘cow-shway’ ;)
Best Thai curry I’ve found over the years but hard to find is gaeng hung lay, just amazing. Followed by Masaman curry .
Next on the list
I only got it at the garden restaurant, WS CM. I think it's the best Thai curry. Bought the ready made pastes too in CM Airport to cook in Pattaya
This would really work well if it was the approach for a proper interview with a guest.
Yes. Like A round with Allis but going to the guests fav restaurant or to get their fav food.
That market has the best dried cuttlefish I've ever tried. Towards the end of Holiday always buy a cheap 🧳 luggage bag and fill it up with kilo's of that stuff to last me until my next Holiday. Can't wait to restock desperately need it like a drug addict 🤣
Class content 👏 good laugh you guys getting lost hahaha
Have eaten Khao Soi many times - first time in Phuket and then Chiang Mai. I am fortunate that I have a Thai restaurant across the road where I live in Sydney that makes it. Tried the beef but prefer the chicken (pieces not leg). Agree its my favourite Thai curry followed by Duck red curry . Pat and yourself work well together and even Rodney`s news reporting is well received, just don't show his face LOL
Nick, Are you selling those Gorilla T-Shirts at Asienda?
Yes Kevin. Where is the shipping to? We sell at 500 baht in the bar but shipping and packaging adds another 500 its not cheap.
Pat should try massaman its got to be irish it has potato in it
These are great. I love the stories. I'm arriving June 3. See you soon.
Thanks for the video: those Thai restaurants on the top floors of central Festival are such good value and very clean. My fav. KFC is up there too overlooking Pattaya bay.
Better than massaman curry?
Yes.
@@NDTViThailand wow I'll have to give it a try then.
Pat has mastered the fake Irish accent, he sounds completely authentic.☘️👍
Haha
He does have a Dublin accent .I can testify as a Dubliner myself .
@@anthonydowling3356 no kidding
Blind leading the blind On a bloody hot day you made me go round the twist Mate you should’ve just went to terminal 21 At the start
Lol. All part of the Vlog.
Looks yummy guys , you earned that meal ! LOL Enjoy ... Booked for a November trip , hope it happens !!
Best Khao Soi Gai in Pattaya is believe me or not, in Cabbages and Condoms at Jomtien. Definitely worth the trip there. Nice restaurant too.
S&P is a failure. 🙈
It was actually very nice.
@@NDTViThailand Nice video anyway, nice to see Pattaya/Thailand when we can not travel there... :( You should try that G&C
Great Restaurant
what quality filming,i dont think you can improve
Always room for improvement. Cheers mate.
Walked in gents when nick was in there had to get out quick, nick was kissing himself in the mirror.
We know you're lying cos you use the ladies.
@@NDTViThailand that's because I am a lady
Boss video mate
Nick, despite the shirt being a light material, you may find you'd be a bit cooler wearing a shirt that isn't black. Try some colour that doesn't absorb heat in direct sun... 555
I have the same in white. 😊
Nick, get Paddy on more Vlogs his humour is absolutely brilliant 👏. And although I like the boots on the ground I love the walk around vlogs.
Jimmy 👍
We're doing another on Tuesday.
@@NDTViThailand look forward to it Nick 👍
Yes we love the walk round vlogs too!
8 dislikes and the show ain't even started yet! What's wrong with people?!?!
Don't forget the plebs have multiple accounts.
Haha! 16 minutes until you grubbed up! Even I was hungry at the end of this.
Thanks for the trip down Soi 2. Wow, the evolution Pattaya is phenomenal.
Working hard for the food. that is a good way to lose a kg or two. ( now lets go to Prime Burger and get a propper meal.)
Lol
I don't like the sound editing.
- Music too loud sometimes, voices not loud enough.
- Music at all in some passages seems random and just distracting.
- The voices sometimes much stronger on one side.
- Music choices seem questionable to my taste.
All these things seem ok for me in B-Roll or visual videos, but I think are not good in video parts where people talk.
@Pattaya Pat I really like your comment.
I didn't see any issues with the sound in fact there's some saying how good it is.
@@NDTViThailand I can not say exactly what it is, but as example the part from 1:25 your voice quality changes every few seconds. Now, watching it again, I may have an explanation. The voice of your friend does not have the problem. Maybe everytime your voice comes to close to his microphone, your voice ends up on both audio tracks, and in that case you hear that in the change of audio. Just a theorie. His voice does not end on your audio, or at least less. Additionally your voice seems little bit quieter than that of your friend.
I watch this video with headphones, maybe watching it on speakers is fine.
Its not a curry ffs
It's curry ffs.
@@NDTViThailand it's not. ask any person who cooks it in Chiang mai.
