One thing I have seen many top chess players do is that they never usually say that my time management or lines that I played were poor but always blame their looses on anything other than it.
Giving 120 mins from move 1 is not a good idea because a normal classical game does not last more than 40 to 50 moves anyway. Also you are slowing down the game flow even more which makes it harder to follow. The same 90 mins for the first 40 moves then extra 30 mins was better than this. Draw rate has clearly increased since this time control has been introduced.
@@ndnd7614 many times Ali has won in time trouble when there's only a few minutes left on the clock of his opponent. Surely you don't mean those victories are not well earned. Skills in chess now include calculate accurately and also quickly. 2 hours are simply too long. 60-90 mins may be the answer.
Nepo would probably prefer 3+2 time control, judging by his time management.
Even in classical matches.
@@tanaybhomia2784that was the point of the joke.
This tournament is really proving Nepo wrong about the time control being too long to put players in time trouble.
2:37 good lord why even include this clip

Imagine trying to flag your opponent in classical chess
Tbh, this time control isn't great
Especially towards the end, it's almost like a blitz game.
Missing quality chess.
Agreed with him there. There has to be lesser time control to incentivize more decisive results. Too many draws.
Nah you have to earn your win. Look at Alireza

Nepo keeping it 💯
difficult to lose? isn't that a GOOD thing lol
But it also means difficult to win. You end up mostly with draws (often boring ones).
