This has to have been extremely hard for McGrady. He and Kobe essentially grew up together.
Of course, a year apart from the draft, both were some of the first few to go from High School straight to the pros, TMac stayed with Kobe for a little while when he first got into the league and most of all in their primes they were the top 2 SGs in the league with similar playing styles.

As someone who lives in Miami, I remember all those years of "Wade County". Dwyane was an amazing player, and I remember him torching my Jazz many times, and yet I could never hate the man, he was just amazing, and now we have Mitchell, who reminds me so much of Wade. I'm just rambling, but I wanted to say this.
Kobe and Wade both had that real professional ultra competitive drive that only a few players have. Still can’t believe Kobe is no longer physically here but his legacy will live forever.

As a Kobe Stan, there was a 1-2 year period wade was playing better early on.
Kenny MacHuh in their prime, i would rank them the same with kobe having a slight edge. Wade averaged 30 points on 50 percent shooting, elite defense, elite playmaking, was clutch and lead a shitty team that had michael beasley as the second best player to the 5th seed. Keep in mind that wade was getting double teamed insane amounts with their being no other threat on the team. Kobe was probably better but on a good night, wade. Could outplay kobe. Kinda like a kd vs lebron debate before kd became a snake

Kobe was doubted early on his career with people saying he was just carried by Shaq. It also didn't help when Shaq joined the Heat with Wade being the #1 guy there and Shaq being the #2, winning a championship. At that time folks were really placing Wade over Kobe. But as we all know, Prime Kobe happened, winning that 2peat as the #1 guy on the team, solidifying his career as way ahead of his contemporaries.
