In this video, we look at the equipment and techniques used by FM radio pirates. Pirate radio broadcasting is how people without a license transmit on the FM or AM broadcast band. The transmitter equipment, antenna, and audio equipment needed for a pirate radio station are different from those used for commercial FM broadcasts and even community radio broadcasts.

I unfortunately cant recommend any specific brands or models. Although I have tested some cheaper as well as broadcast level transmitters. I simply can't guarantee any brand or specific model. A rule of thumb for me is to see if the transmitter is either approved by FCC or of a quality that would be approved by the broadcast authority in your country. I don't recommend using any unlicensed transmitters. To work towards obtaining a broadcast license or operate within the law of allowed low power transmitters its always better to choose transmitters that are either approved or meet the specifications of approved transmitters in your country. Many of the transmitters will either have an FCC approved sticker on them or some sort of approval sticker from the broadcast authority of your country. Any other non approved or low spec transmitters are just a magnet for trouble. Make sure you know and abide by the laws of your country and only use approved equipment for your country. As I said in the video I don't condone any unlicensed broadcasting. Make sure if you want to broadcast that you are not breaking the laws of your country. Any broadcasting you chose to do is at your own risk and I do not recommend it or support any broadcasting that is not legally approved in your country or any other.

Hello sir please give me a suggestion. I have a 7 watt transmitter and it has a stock 50 ohm telescopic antenna.
Now my question is.. Can I use my transmitter for 2-3 hours continuously with that antenna?
Someone told that if I use telescopic ( stock antenna) my transmitter will burn within 30 minutes.😢 Is it true? Please reply..

I understand that many of these device images were AI generated as well as some of the stock footage, but was the video AI scripted also?

Hi. The script I wrote myself from several sources. I decided to start using AI voices just because it's quicker than recording my voice. Some of the images I could not find so I had to resort to AI images. Some are not so great but it's one of those topics where images are few and far between. The content or information is not AI though. Also just to mention there are only a handful of the images that are AI generated and you can see it from the low quality of some of the Images but about 98% of the Images and 100 % of the video clips are not AI generated. I know it is assumed that most video these days is AI but actually most AI images and definitely video is nowhere as good as non AI .It will still be a while before AI reaches the level where it can compete.

Yeah, I noticed AI images and Video, so it made me question if this is some sort of test of how well it will be recieved. AI images were cool to see, they represend the devices very well, and I think that they do the job, but the voice is not something that personaly liked. I think that voice in old videos has more natural feel to it, or I just got used to it. Still very good video, always interesting to watch 😊 @@inspiresoundpro

Thank you sometimes I think the videos take too much work lol. I try to add some fun bits sometimes to keep it interesting. I might use my voice again in future but for now people seem to be OK with the new voice. The video is doing quite well. I will have some follow up videos because there's so much more to cover. Now that it's Holliday hopefully I can get some more videos done. Always appreciate the feedback. It helps to know how the videos are being received. And it keeps me motivated lol. Cheers

I dont see the point of running a pirate radio. Unless there is a profit, its a hobby with nothing to gain. Another motive could be disruptive. Im curious and knowing why people would want to do this?

    • @inspiresoundpro

You are right. It is a question. I cant give a definitive answer to that because I simply dont know but from my research there are so many possible reasons it's hard to list them. Some of the ones listed in places like Wikipedia are for example for ethnic reasons. One example that was given was that refugees for example in UK wanted to reach out to their community and had no way of doing that on the existing stations. I would think that would be easier these days with social media. I understand how the technology works but as to people's reasons I really can only guess. Some of my research says that it is mostly people who's community can't afford smart phones or computers etc and radio receivers are really cheap. But as I said I can only guess and I don't think we will ever really know because each person might have their own reason which we will probably never know.

In "modern" countries pirate radio was tied in to the antiauthoritarian movement that started in the 60's. They broadcast interviews with people banned, explicitly or implicitly, from mainstream radio. This went for music as well. The UK was known for banning songs and groups associated with the "troubles" in Ireland. When you get to South America and Africa, you have "rebel" radio. More or less political propaganda stations.
