O The Mission, um dos pilares do rock alternativo mundial, está de volta com o tão aguardado novo álbum de inéditas. Os britânicos apresentam The Brightest Light (2013), disco que marca não só o 13° registro fonográfico em estúdio, mas o primeiro trabalho do trio Wayne Hussey, Simon Hinkler e Craig Adams juntos, desde Grains Of Sand (1990). As últimas gravações aconteceram em 1989 e, depois disso, o trio nunca mais se reuniu.
A banda acredita que, após terem praticamente se reinventado, celebrado mais de 25 anos na estrada e serem uma das atrações principais da última edição do Download Festival, o The Mission deva retomar o seu devido posto. "Este é o meu disco de rock! Minha esposa disse que é o meu 'disco de testosterona'. Eu queria capturar o mais próximo possível do som que fazemos quando tocamos ao vivo e acredito que, pela primeira vez, fomos bem-sucedidos nesta ideia", declarou o frontman Wayne Hussey.
Nos anos 80, o The Mission era uma das bandas mais apreciadas do movimento gótico britânico, lado a lado com o Sisters of Mercy. Quem não se recorda de temas como "Wasteland", "Severina", "Beyond the Pale", "Tower of Strength", "Kingdom Come", "Into the Blue" e "Butterfly on a Wheel"?
