Im 65 and have downsized and sold all the stuff myself. Its liberating. When Im gone it'll take my kids 2 days to purge what remains. I dont miss any of it. My work took me into homes after people passed. Invariably, the heirs would get a dumpster, take and sell a few things but a lot of it ended up in a landfill. It took months and years to sort out. I vowed I would not do that to my family.
That is what I plan to do myself. Sell the stuff then use the proceeds to take my family on a bucket trip list vacation!
Most folks, especially seniors, have absolutely too much stuff. I am downsizing right now. It’s donate, trash or keep. Won’t put my family thru this.

You really need to be there. I've been to dozens of estate sales. The majority of the time family members are there.
Nope. A majority of my peers in my market wont allow that...
Either donate or do an estate sale yourself if it is just $2k or $600 that you will get from the estate sale.

My best friend died and her friends and family held an estate sale. All the money went to her daughter she left behind. Her daughter was 15 years old and still in highschool. She was left an orphan as her father died while she was still an infant. The things that meant the most to her daughter, her friends, collectibles, they kept! Other things were sold and paid for highschool and now college.
Poor family that is so sad

When you are grieving. There are lots of things you will forget or overlook
The company's website reviews doesn't always paint a true picture of the company's product or service, since 5-star reviews on the website are often fake.
The best way to check out a company is to google "complaints," followed by the company's name. When you see multiple complaints abut deceptive business practices and/or shoddy product or product being different from advertised, you know not to do business with the company or person.
Last year, I ordered an item online when an "influencer" recommended it. After I paid, I immediately received an email that the item would be delayed. When it came three weeks late, it looked nothing like what was represented on the CZcamsr's channel. It was literal trash. I got the runaround trying to return it, fortunately. my bank reimbursed me.
I then googled complaints about the company, and many of them were similar to mine. If I'd done that before making the purchase, it would've saved me a headache.

I sold my moms home, took care of getting her utilities paid.. I handled all transaction , alone.. didn’t wait for 7 siblings .. .. The scripture; put no confidence in the glesh( man)

Yeah, estate sales are for rich a relative, that has a lot of stuff, high end stuff. If you want to get top dollar for their stuff. Not a single guy with modest furniture.

They should have looked up yelp reviews before selecting him and write a negative review to try to prevent this from happening to others

They had to ‘doctor’ the paperwork. Happens all the time. We’ve got to dig deeper when these specialty circumstances arise. Ask questions, request references/comments, documentation of previous clients.

A cremation company took advantage of my husband and defrauded him when he lost his first wife.
All those people that ask if you need help when your loved one dies, those are the people that want to help. No way I would have given 40% when you can sell off of Craigslist and Facebook marketplace.

The Estate agent is paid upfront or .. the proceeds 100% from the actual Estate sale goes to the family.. The Family is usually involved throughout the process ...even from deciding what to price the items at..
Been doing it 7 years in Phoenix..none of my peers operate that way or would operate under those conditions.

Nope. No estate sale company can make an HONEST living at 20%. Been doing it 7 years. 90% of the homes I do in Phoenix dont even have enough for me to do a REALLY GOOD job at 40%.
