Please leave comments on any products that you may have used, if it was a fail or success, to share knowledge of doing hydroponics.
    It's good to change up your bug sprays so the ones that are immune don't reproduce. As soon as I find a link for the Eco Garden again I will share it here. Thank you for all your comments.

    Why didn’t you list the ingredients for eco garden? You did this with the other products. Is this an ad for eco garden? …. I loved your advice up to the promotion for eco garden without any substantive information for viewers.

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Před 2 lety +1

      No it’s not an ad for eco garden. Just a product I purchased. I have only done one sponsored video to this point and I would always disclose that to the audience. Thank you for the feed back. The back of the bottle says active ingredients Azadicrochin 1.2%. Other ingredients 98.2%. Contains 0.35 grams of Azadicrochin per fluid ounce. I hope that helps

      Thank you for the quick response. I did some research on the EcoGrow product you promoted and learned that it is a pesticide & not safe for children or animals. It has a lot of toxic ingredients. You out up a label in your video that read: “claimed to be organic” … but that is very misleading since you do not go on to mention that it is a pesticide… I’m not trying to be overly critical but since you were so informative/critical about your other products, it feels misleading to not mention that you were recommending views use a pesticide on hydro plants inside of their homes. That’s very extreme! But Thank you again for your response.

      The company did claim it to be organic. And was listed as such on Amazon. In another video when I’m cleaning the plants I state it’s “Said to be organic” :) Thanks again for your critique. It helps me grow in my YT journey. I’m getting better with every video :) I continue to learn more as I grow, to share with viewers. Appreciate the time you took to comment.

      This has bothered me that it claims to be organic and after your research you stated it was not. I wanted to come back and share with you the product page from their website. It still does not say what the other ingredients are but again it states on the site it is safe for people, kids and pets. :) Just doing a quick follow up with you. @@GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie Oh! I guess I should get rid of my Basil plant in soil then. What a shame. I've only had her for a week or so and she's doing so well under my grow bulb. Any suggestions about that one plant? I live in Florida so I can't put it outside as the days are still 90⁰. It will die from the heat.

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Před 2 lety

      One really easy thing to do is take the basil out of the dirt. Rinse the roots really well. Place it in a vase or large pot with only rock and water. Then you have a quick hydroponics. Just change out the water about once a week to stop root rot. I have done this with a few plants I wanted to keep. Or make sure they aren't in the same room as your hydro. I have plants I bring in for the winter (Im in Michigan) and they live in the basement so on another floor of the hydro :) I am also growing sweet potato vines. they are doing very well (will do a video soon) and they are in water and rocks ! • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Před 2 lety

      If you are not putting it in with your hydro system, you can just rinse the root, then place it in a vase and use the rocks to hold the plant up. You can use your water from your hydro if you want. I pull water out of my iHarvest and pour it in the other plants that's fine too :)

    Thanks for the informative video! Have you had any success using a tent/greenhouse that fits the iHarvest? I'm concerned about the humidity levels in the winter and potential bugs and wondering if a greenhouse around the unit might be the way to go.

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Před 2 lety +1

      I have not personally but have seen some use grow tents and put the unit inside. For me personally our house is so dry in the winter that the water from the unit is nice added humidity for the house. The plants dont need humidity themselves that you would think they do. As long as the roots are getting food supplemented water they are totally fine and it almost has its own humid level inside the unit so it works perfect. The bugs, if you get them, stay right on the unit. They won’t go anywhere. It’s the perfect environment for them. And they are so tiny you probably wouldn’t see them. But if you have the space for a greenhouse, im sure it would be fine. But not everyone fights bugs. I was just a lucky one. I’m sure living in the woods doesn’t help either :)

      Those are bug larvae. You can use mosquito bits and put in a net of some kind and hang in the tank. If there is any green on the growing media and the media isn’t covered that’s probably algae. Won’t hurt plants but can be annoying. You can also dunk pods in hydrogen peroxide to kill off any bugs. Hope that helps!

  • @generalawareness101
    @generalawareness101 Před rokem

    I got the plant's version of VD from an unsafe bag of Jiffy seedling mix. What I do not get is how I have them in hydroponics if I use pool noodles and not rock wool, or grow plugs since the pool noodle is never wet (or stays wet like a sponge?

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Před rokem +1

      The larvae can live and produce in the water. That’s why hydrogen peroxide is a good additive to kill the larvae. Another thing I have not used but read up on is the mosquito bits. You hang them in a nylon bag and hang them in the tank and that should help for killing then before they start! But they shouldn’t be able to live in the pool noodle unless they are thriving on the root system.

    • @generalawareness101

      @@GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie Very strange they can live in water though I have seen a few in there. I drown them so they can drown. I had no luck with Hydrogen Peroxide except it killed two of my plants and burned a lot of others mixed 30 ml (2 tbsp) to a gallon of water for the 3% kind.

    Can ecogarden be used to prevent the bugs, so can you use it when you first plant your veggies to prevent the bugs?

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Před rokem

      It probably could be but for indoor garden systems I don’t know if that would be necessary as there are better ways to do that. For example the growing media or the growing pods can be frozen or some boil them. ONLY freeze the Rapid Rooter brand but ones like Aerogarden can be boiled. This will rid media of larvae of for some reason they came in it. Although I haven’t ever seen it in Rapid Rooters. You can also run fans to prevent the white flies from finding their way before plants are established. You could use eco garden or another spray but this could save money in the long run….
