Manda Puja ~
Exploring the faith, tradition, cultural heritage and social bonding reflected in this age old festival of Jharkhand through this video!!
Lord Shiva is worshipped in this festival through very tough rituals, the practices of this festival needs extreme strength, vigour and discipline. The rituals can be as hard and intense like hanging over flames upside down, running barefoot over burning coal or wood, hanging from a very high revolving pole etc.
Researches claim that Jharkhand is one of the oldest lands in the world. It traces back to ancient human existence thus religious practices are also very old. Hence, One of the oldest festivals of this region, Manda's origin is yet to be discovered.
Manda Puja is celebrated in South Chhotanagpur division in Jharkhand. It's one of the rare festivals that is celebrated by the tribal as well as non tribal devotees.
