Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark, fans take over Footprint Center Sunday against Mercury

- Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark and Diana Taurasi took to Footprint Center in Phoenix for their first game against the Mercury. The sellout crowd of 17,071 fans eagerly awaited the heavyweight clash between the two big names in women's basketball history. Clark narrowly missed a triple-double, posting a 15-9-12 stat line, while Taurasi scored 19 points in the Fever's 88-82 comeback win. Fans from across the nation, including Fever fans David Wolf and B.J. Bosier, traveled to watch Clark compete. The 2024 WNBA All-Star game is slated for July 20 at Footprint Center, but Clark has been excluded from the 2024 women's Olympic team. Regardless of her return for the All-Star Game, her millions of fans continue to follow her wherever she goes in her basketball career.

Clark would have had a triple double if Sides didn't take her out of the game so she couldn't get the triple double!!!!!!! Sides is sabotaging Clark and her performances!!!

That is just stupid. Caitlin was taken out for defensive reasons. She had plenty of time to make that final rebound. You can criticize Sides for various reasons but she was coaching to win which she did. Blaming that lack of a final rebound by Caitlin on Sides is just stupid. Caitlin was in for five minutes and still did not make a final rebound. That isn’t Sides fault.

Until stumbling over a news item, I had less than no interest in women's basketball, at any level.

One Second of seeing CC-22 impersonating Stephen Curry hooked me! The second second and I realized Caitlin Clark wasn't copying anybody!

Because what I know is based on clips showing her shooting half-court 3-pointers and making magical passes, reminiscent of Magic Johnson to Kareem when everyone in the stadium and home in front of their television KNEW the Sky-Hook was coming and nobody could stop it, I see patterns where the playing style of CC-22 is changing the team. Boston figured out that all she has to do is get below the basket, stick out a mitt and the basketball would appear in it.

Anyway, I think she is playing perfectly, playing her game and letting the team adjust to things like having a pass actually come to them, and supporting each others play. I think I see a team in name becoming a team in practice.

Reality is the Mercury finished in last place last season, worst team in the league . Only after getting Copper from Chicago have they improved and when she went 3-15 for only 7 points , they again struggled .
