- Shivaji Nagar, located in Bangalore (now officially known as Bengaluru), has a rich history that dates back to the colonial era. The area is named after the great Maratha warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Over the years, Shivaji Nagar has evolved from a quiet residential locality into a bustling commercial and cultural hub.
Here's a brief overview of the history of Shivaji Nagar:
Colonial Influence: During the British colonial period, Bangalore witnessed significant development and urbanization. Shivaji Nagar was established as a planned residential area for government employees and military personnel. The layout of the area was organized, and it gradually became home to a diverse community.
Cultural Diversity: Over time, Shivaji Nagar became known for its cultural diversity, with people from different regions and backgrounds residing there. This diversity brought about a mix of languages, traditions, and cuisines, contributing to the area's unique character.
Commercial Growth: As Bangalore continued to grow as a major IT and business hub in India, Shivaji Nagar also witnessed commercial growth. The establishment of various markets, shopping complexes, and business establishments turned the area into a bustling commercial center. The Karnataka New Evening Bazaar, also known as the Russel Market, became a prominent landmark, known for its fresh produce, textiles, and more.
Transportation and Connectivity: Shivaji Nagar's strategic location near the city center and its good connectivity to various parts of Bangalore made it an ideal residential and commercial area. The presence of a metro station further enhanced its accessibility.
Cultural Vibrancy: Beyond its commercial aspects, Shivaji Nagar is also known for its cultural vibrancy. It has been a melting pot of various cultural events, festivals, and religious celebrations. The area's mix of communities contributes to the festive atmosphere, creating a unique blend of traditions and festivities.
Challenges and Urban Development: Like many older parts of cities, Shivaji Nagar faced challenges related to infrastructure, traffic congestion, and urban planning. The government has undertaken various initiatives to address these issues and transform the area into a more organized and livable space.
In summary, Shivaji Nagar's history is intertwined with Bangalore's urban development and cultural diversity. From its colonial origins to its present status as a bustling commercial and cultural hub, Shivaji Nagar continues to be an integral part of Bangalore's identity.

Why it's name is Shivaji Nagar?
@@ajinkyaipper_007 You appear to be from outside Bengaluru.
Originally, in the nineteenth century during the British Raj, this area was a village called Shivanahalli. Gradually, the name got shortened to Shivajinagar.
Insha Allah I'm coming to Bangalore ❤
Thank you for the tour. It was nostalgic to see Shivajinagar as I was born and brought up in Shivajinagar. It was very different back in 1980's to 1990's, and it was a major hub for all shoppers as one could get everything for people from all walks of life. I guess you got the name of the market wrong as it's named after Kurt Russell from the British empire. It was built and named after him. I guess the mother-tongue-influence in Shivajinagar makes it sound like Rasol Market. It was a very beautiful tour you gave and two thumbs up for your amazing work.
Lastly, I apologise that you had to go through the meat market and you being vegetarian, it must have made you feel awkward. I personally thank you for your work and keep up the spirit and I wish you all the very best in life. God bless you. Warm wishes from your Muslim brother in London. 😊

Aapka bahut bahut shukriya aapke jarie se bahut jankari Mili hai❤
It's the Russel market made by Sir Russel, British lieutenant in past centuries.
Some people call it Rasool market.
My great grandfather built the first double storey building in shivaji nagar which still exists there.
Before, it was all Ragi & Paddy fields during the time of Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali.
Martha's captured and shivaji spent his childhood, and the name was given shivaji nagar.
It's a good place for shopping and is famous for food and all markets.
Thank you so much 🎉❤

Very very nice
Russell Market
Good job covered almost like one self walking by him/herself. And for your question that in south India there are more beef shops so the answer is here almost every non vegetarian eats Beef apart from their religion and belief.. because we believe religion is one's personal choice like eating habits.. unlike North
Thanks for watching!
That's an interesting perspective
Then u must try pork

Thank you very much for your instructional videos. I admire Indian culture a lot, but I have a hard time with the language. I am a professor of natural sciences at a Latin university, I am 52 years old, and I plan to go to India soon (for cultural and leisure reasons). I want to ask you if you know how to contact me with someone who lives in India (preferably a woman), who could guide me there and help me practice the language. I could give you my data privately and, of course, I would pay for the help that both you and she gave me. I look forward to your kind reply. Best regards.
Hi, are you still looking for Hindi lessons?
Where are you from ma.am
As usual under developed parts of Indian cities are Muslim neighborhoods. It is a pity. This community needs to develop more.
Gosto senpre dos seus vidios.
YAHA PE KON SA RELVE ISTESAN HAI PLZ REPLY
It IS Russell market. The locals mistakenly call it Rasool market.
You should have tried the used book shop opposite Shivajinagar bus stand. You get good books at very reasonable rates unavailable elsewhere.
