  • After a bunch of year wearing a neck gaiter the wrong way when fishing, I saw a tip about hinging the corners and admitedly I feel like a dumb ass. 😂 I can't believe I didn't know this and I hope some of you can use this tip!

    I have just had an What! moment, I have definitely been wearing it the wrong way. I wear mine with a motorcycle helmet and glasses and stopped wearing one over the top of my head due to the problems you described. As they say, "every day is a school day". Thank you for that lesson, much appreciated.

      Great for on the bike on cold days. I have one that has a fleece neck part but has a smooth, thin head section - helmet slides on super easy and entire chin/neck is covered, no adjusting… search neck warmer with helmet liner if interested, they’re excellent.

      Swedish motorcyclist here: I have one of these, but if I ride in winter, I have a really good balaclava hood that extends under my jacket like a medieval hood. Nicely padded/insulated too. Mind you I stop riding once there's ice on the ground. One of these days I'll just buy a 110/250cc dirt bike I can get proper winter tires for.

      I wear one year round when riding my motorcycle. It makes it easier to put my helmet on, or take it off, it also protects my skin from the helmet strap. In the winter I use a (partially) fleece-lined one to keep me warm, and in the summer it protects me against the sun and more important flies and other little bugs.
      Over the years I've collected a good number of Buff's, for different situations. My favorite is the merino wool Buff, which I wear almost year round.

      They don't meet the criteria for preventing the spread of covid, if that's what you're talking about. The CDC specifically stated neck gaiters were not adequate face masks years ago. Interesting tip, thanks. I only have one gaiter but I have found it's most useful to me when doing yardwork. Weedwhacking and mowing especially. Prevents that airborne grit in my teeth and nose. But---
    I did use it this winter when shoveling snow on a very cold day. Was a great help to buffer that freezing cold air when breathing.
    Gaiters are a wonderfully protective face tool. 👍🏻

  • @Jaketheaxman
    @Jaketheaxman Před rokem +32

    As a skier, I can agree with this. Instead of wearing a hat, I just pull the top of the gaiter down until it is on my eyebrows partially. I take the slack to the corners, triangle fold and tuck them in. The ski goggles cover the only exposed parts of your face. Works with or without a ski helmet and protects your face from windburn.

  • @kagetemplar
    @kagetemplar Před 6 měsíci +2

    How I learned to do it is the pull the front top edge over my face, as you used to do, but pull the bottom rear edge over the back of my head, instead of the top back edge.
    I like that method for to reasons:
    It overlaps on my ears keeping them warm and against my head during winter.
    It keeps only a single layer of cloth over my face which is nice in the summer.
    Use case/preference. Make the call that makes sense for you.
