Interesting. When I am delayed in traffic I say thank you. I am obviously not intended to be where I thought I was to be at a certain time and possibly being delayed for a reason.... possible accident or being in one or people I was to meet up with are delayed etc.... Let life unfold.

Absolutely, there's a hidden blessing in every delay. It's all about the journey, not just the destination. Thanks for sharing your outlook!

Life isn't simple and it's all good until you have people demand from you everyday. You have to set boundaries you have to engage problems head on.

Question for anyone: In some of Michael Singer's talks, he talks about sitting with the pains that come up (so that they can be processed) and released. He talks about how they were stored down inside of us with pain and they will come back up with pain but we must sit with the pain to allow it to be released. He also talks about relaxing and releasing where you relax back to your seat of consciousness. For me, at this stage of my understanding, going back to my seat of consciousness feels different from sitting with the pain. I can think about it logically as observing the pain from the seat of consciousness but it doesn't feel like sitting with the pain to me. Does anyone have any clarification on this?

I think he says that we can just keep relaxing and releasing back to the seat of consciousness, being mindful that we are not tempted to push the pain back down inside. The relaxing and releasing will allow it to naturally release, though it may take some time as we learn to truly relax and truly return to our seat of consciousness. Any other tips?

I think the sitting with the pain part is basically avoiding rationalizing or anything we are using to push the pain back down and and thus "sitting" with the pain. He speaks elsewhere about allowing it (the pain) to be, tolerating it towards transcendence. He does talk about ways of rationalizing things like the weather or heat for example which I believe is beginner steps/methods he teaches us which gets us on the right path. But when we are more advanced and are truly ready to let this junk go, we have to avoid the rationalizations or any of the means that we may be using to push the stuff back down. So in that way, even though we are relaxing and releasing we are ensuring that we're not pushing back down the pain. Sound right?

I think he is often saying that we don't really need to worry about this or that thing but we can use those triggers to take notice and be mindful and sit with the pain that it stirs up so that it can be released.

Sitting with the pain could make us more irritable which can make us reactive when we are not in our seat of consciousness. Let the irritation be a reminder to relax and release back to our seat of consciousness.

That's correct. The pain will trigger thoughts and rationalizations. These are what you need to avoid. Bring your mind back to the feeling of the pain in your body, and just try and observe and accept. There is nothing to 'fix', even though your mind will try desperately to disagree with that! I managed to cure myself of chronic anxiety using this method, but it takes time if the pain is particularly bad. Keep going. If you're not thinking about it, you're not feeding it, and it will eventually subside.

How do you achieve a goal without desire? For example if you have a production goal at work. I’m having trouble understanding , how to live in the world and applying this concept. How do I approach?

    • @think_nation

Michael Singer speaks to the heart of this dilemma: achieving goals without the tight grip of desire. It's about setting intentions and dedicating ourselves to the task, but not being bound by the outcome. We engage fully in the process, apply our skills, yet remain open to the journey's flow. This way, we align with life's dynamic nature, meeting our goals with a sense of presence rather than pressure. Keep your focus, but hold it lightly, and let the unfolding be your guide.

If you read his book The Surrender Experiment, you'll understand his approach to life and philosophies much better. He built a community, completed a PHD I believe and went on to build a billion dollar business with presence, intention and surrendering. It's absolutely fascinating.
