- Since I arrived in Indonesia, I wanted to get a traditional hat for myself. Finally have seen a few places where they seel various of them in a whole sale place. I did not know the name of the hat in a local language, but eventually we figured out :) KOPIAH!

The regular hat, with visor on front is topi. What you're buying is peci. The one the old gentleman using is kopiah/kopeah/songkok. The most traditional one is the songkok/kopeah
in Indonesia all types of hats for prayer are called "kopiah" if you want to find a kopiah original from Indonesian culture, look for a skullcap with a slightly long and plain black size my brother

Fyi, there used to be a lot of african textile importer in the area. But it's becoming less to none since covid. The area still known as the biggest textile market in Indonesia, maybe in Southeast Asia
