- Young Christopher Walken (billed here under his real name, "Ronnie") does an amazing job in this short film, The Boy who Saw Through (1958), playing a savant with a special ability. He can see through walls! The only problem is, no one believes him. Walken completely changes his voice for this role, with a naturalness most actors would envy. He was about 15 when this was made, and already a veteran child actor. Two years later he made an appearance in the TV adventure series DEADLINE • 💗TEENAGE CHRISTOPHER W... I never would've thought Christopher Walken had been a child.
haha
😆
You mean Ronnie. 🤣
Same. I thought he was born as a grown man. I didn’t know how this was possible but I thought it just was. lol
Yeah, believe it our not guys ,,,our buddy Chris Walken was a " walking talking child once,,,,may the good Lord Bless him.
Christopher Walken was 56 when he made this. He is that good an actor.
That is Some Good Make Up Work!
😆😆 I can see "Christopher Walken is such a good actor... He's that good" as becoming the new "Chuck Norris is so badass,... "
😂😂😂😂!
Yes he was, he hoodwinked the LA police just to "protect" his buddy, who shoved her overboard
@@canadianbacon3007 Too bad they don't count down votes so you don't think everyone agrees with you
Just goes to show, Walken is literally the best thing in ANY movie he is in, even as a child
It genuinely never occured to me that Christopher Walken was once a child.
I guess, Yeah, but still a, CHILD STAR!
I know right!??? I keep looking and just CANT SEE IT!!!! I think this kid is an imposter and Christopher Walken just let it be so he could seem more like a normal person!!!!!! Hahaha!!!
He wasn't. The clip is a deepfake don't fall for it.
A Cute child ❣️
Well, you know ...it takes ... time ... to grow .... you know.
Handsome then and now. He is unique.
Handsome is as handsome does.
This is one of the strangest 24 minutes of my life. Christopher Walken as a child actor is amazing.
Thank goodness he improved !
Watching this dire slice of drama had me trapped in fascination of the horrible.😂
He was gorgeous blond kid.
If you thought this was so strange, you must be one of those people Ronnie has to lie to, in order to protect the truth.
Christopher Walken, you say? They look a lot like Scarlett Johansson .
Wow, he marched to the beat of a different drummer even as a young actor, no wonder he’s still one of the the coolest people ever.
“You must tell Ernest not to stare at people,” hisses the father of an adolescent boy to his mother. The command is understandable if you know Ernest’s piercing stare belongs to a 14-year-old Christopher Walken. Billed as “Ronnie,” Walken plays the title character, who has developed the ability to see through walls, much to the consternation of his stuffy Victorian parents. In this stultifying, bourgeois environment, the ability to see what people are secretly doing-and reveal the hypocrisy of supposedly upstanding citizens-is a dangerous one. Ernest’s parents take him to a wise but cynical doctor, who encourages Ernest tell “a lie in defense of truth.”
The force behind The Boy Who Saw Through was producer Mary Ellen Bute (1906-83), who had made her name as a pioneering experimental animator and director.”www.filmpreservation.org/preserved-films/screening-room/the-boy-who-saw-through-1956
He's a better actor at 15 than the rest of the cast.
I am stunned that he was a pretty blonde as a child. His adult look altered completely. Brilliant hypnotic actor.
Awesome! I was raised in Astoria, NY, borough of Queens. Christopher Walken’s family owned the best bakery, Walken’s Bakery. All along the upper wall behind the counter was young Chris Walken’s acting photos when he was a kid.
Thanks for sharing this rare movie of Mr. Walken, as a teenager !

All along the upper wall were photo's of brides and grooms. A few with famous people Eddie Cantor Ed Wynn etc. later on there were pictures of baby's with different expressions. I have all these photo's the Walken boys pictures were placed in the store window. Don't you miss the bakery? It was the best.
I enjoyed that - Christopher Walken was a natural actor from the beginning. I wonder when he developed his unique way of speaking that has made him such a memorable actor.
He has said it's because his parents were immigrants and lived in a community of immigrants from all over Europe, and people's speech patterns were sort of halting as they tried to find the right word. Either that, or he's just eccentric.
He said on Conan that he hated grammar punctuation marks and tends to ignore them
@@ferociousgumby being eccentric, at least appearing to be, is an effective strategy on the path to becoming a celebrity; it prevents one from disappearing in the crowd.
I didn't notice his adult unique way of speaking here as a youngster.
I guess he had to speak as the director instructed since he was a rookie. Once he became successful he probably started to take some liberties and stylize his acting.
One of the very few successful child actors who did not end up a self-destructive mess.
Well?! What 'year' was this movie?!!
@@bonanzatime A 1958 silent film in UK. Very weird.
What self did self destruct was that wedding cake in the back of Walken's delivery truck.
@@robertgardner7470 23:35 perhaps this was one of his Dad's special cakes!

He looks like he could pass as Haley Mills brother.
Wow! You're right. Nice observation.
That's right he does! Thank you!

SeldimSeen1 yes, her twin brother
He certainly does look like her, good eye.
He was a very handsome boy
The way he holds his body and shoulders was set in childhood. Brilliant performer!
He will always move like a dancer. Understated, like a big cat.
He was so cute.
As an adult now, Christopher Walken is one of the funniest men out there.
I wonder if he can still see through walls.
Not to mention, an amazing dancer!
“Ronnie” Walken told the story of his child acting beginning , along with the stage actress director who said he looked like a Christopher and he kept the name, to David Letterman on one of his early guest appearances on Late Night. This short film is so fascinating and I appreciate being able to see something from the 50’s . I was born in 1949, the year of the Television and I was on a local variety show often in the late 50’s in Louisville Kentucky. This is the type of quirky Television I grew up watching, no wonder the 60’s was so wild, 😂😂😂
His was the best acting in this short film. All of the others were off. He was suitably charismatic. The camera liked him a lot..
he was so good-looking
@M Pulverman I agree. There's always been something about him that is really attractive. And when he starts dancing, it's all over for me.

Yes, it does have that quality of mystery and a child having special abilities that no one understands.
Absolutely!!! debrabdr@yahoo.co
What if it was a Christopher Walken devil doll?
Especially with that kooky background music during the dining scene. 😣
Yes it certainly does. Everything from the plot to the film style.
I saw the child's face. But for some bizarre reason I fully expected his voice to sound like the Christopher Walken we know today. Thanks for posting!
And he still has that amazing head of hair
Donna, I was thinking the same thing. 🤗
The voice is different.
@@PendeltonWhiskey 🤭
As he likes to put it, "I still have good heaahhhhhh."
There is nothing about him that looks or sounds like Christopher Walken.
Thank you for posting this movie. I probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise.
I don't know why it never occurred to me that Christopher Walken was a child actor once. But my favorite thing about him, aside from his unique acting, is that he's such an amazing dancer.
He was a child actor along with his two brothers, but has survived it without all the dire things that happen to most child actors. I think his parents were wise about it, and he had his two brothers for support, so the focus wasn't just on him. But he is the only one who went professional. He is still acting, by the way, in a TV series, and still doing movies as of 2022.
@@ferociousgumby After I saw this video I went and watched some Christopher Walken interviews where he talked about being in show business since he was a kid. It seems his parents did the right thing in letting him explore his love of performing on his terms and not behaving like most fame hungry parents would. Thank you for posting this video, it was a treat to see Christopher at this young age and already having a great skin presence.
And I'm looking forward to seeing him in the new Dune film! Cheers.
He said that when he was young in New York you had to be a Triple Threat meaning you had to be able to sing and dance as well as act to make it.
@@ferociousgumby His brothers were better actors then him it's just that life took them in different directions. In fact he wasn't crazy about it but he wanted to please his mom. His father would have liked it if one of the son's became bakers. But that never happened. He does great Shakespeare. I think that's what he does best. He's won many awards for that.
He's a hoofer at heart.
The only thing that would make this clip better would be MORE COWBELL.

I love Christopher Walken! What a treat.
People in 1958 must have thought , " what a weird kid . Little did they know he'd be playing hold my beer for weirdness from here on .
Well, yeah! But what a good little actor. Mostly the STORY is weird. He often says his brothers got more roles than he did, not because they were better actors but because they were better at learning their lines. I wonder if he was drawn to this role or even was willing to do it when his brothers didn't want to. At least he didn't write his lines on his shirt cuff or have an earpiece, like Marlon Brando. This little film must have had a very small distribution and I doubt was shown in theatres, except maybe as a short. Most of early hollywood were circus and gypsy stage actors. Not many family type people would take on these careers. Most low budget movies had these people in them.
What a good little actor!! The story had a good point as well.
I LOVE this little gem! He is sort of like Dennis the Menace, but he has a certain dignity to him. He could have played it a lot of different ways, but there's nothing "precious" or trying too hard, as most child actors do. And he grew up eccentric, but married for 40 years, and we never hear anything bad about him.
