what i like to do is to when the spectators have a guess at how they think the trick worked, i would do a trick that's about that. so if they say there's a card up your sleeve i would say yes and perform a trick called " aces of the cuff" in card college 2,or if they say you have duplicate cards i would do harry lorayne's "ambitious card" where at the end all the cards are the same but then we realise they're not. i personally would do a different card to hat but tbh this was good as well. it's great to be spontaneous.

For me, sitting next to someone random and connecting with them and talking is far more impressive than magic tricks
But that's exactly what JS "Magic" does - drops everyone's guard and opens up the door for that connection. Notice after every performance u can tell they will always remember JS and would gladly stop and talk to him on any given day if they spotted him on the street. JS tricks are killer, but agree w/u - it's his people skills that are equally amazing.
