- Russell Westbrook may have hit a new low last night, scoring only 8 points on 2-of-14 shooting in the Los Angeles Lakers' 125-116 loss to the Sacramento Kings. LeBron James actually scored a game-high 34 points and the Lakers did have a 14-point lead earlier in the game. However, the defense slipped and frustration took over as the purple and gold fell back to .500 on the season. After many people pegged the Lakers to win the West, Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe break down what has happened to them since the start of the year.

Every time the Lakers take a few steps forward, they'll take about the same amount of steps back. They'll win 3 or 4 games straight and then lose like 3 in a row. On any given day it feels like the Lakers can lose to any team.
When they run into a string of bad teams, your OKC’s, Rockets, Pistons, of the world they reel off a few wins. When they run into good teams or even halfway decent teams they back peddle. Personally I want to see them as the 7 or 8 seed so Phoenix, Golden State, Utah or Memphis can sweep them. Skip Bayless would live forever if LeBron got swept

They need a leader on defense who is going to challenge them in the locker room or cover up the mistakes. LeBron isn't able to be a leader on defense anymore and neither is AD who's injured. Myles Turner or Jerami Grant would be good as a leader on defense.

I think Lebron is traumatized 🤣. KD and the Warriors put a whippin on his head ans no matter what he did and the star talent be had wirh him, he got destroyed.
2. Harden joining KD and Kyrie lit a fire under him, making him determined not to get beaten that bad again.
3. He recognizes its easier to win with superstars. He and KD are spoiled now. After getting a taste of what its like to have high-caliber stars on your team so you dont have to do a lot of the work and keep winning, they never want to go back to a regular team.
@@soulsearch1234 to me it was KD, Harden and Kyrie joining up. That created an arms race and Bron tried to do too much. Thought he needed a 3rd full star to match Kyrie. Would have been better to run it back with the 2019 team or at least get Buddy Heid

@@moneyman9295 to add to that, Russ really hasn’t looked good since his infamous triple double stat pad season. Russ would often start playing much better in the second half of a season, but none of that would ever translate to the actual playoffs where it actually mattered.

I never understood why Lakers were favorites before the season.
