  • I got my hands on the brand new, newly designed Sicce Shark Pro 500 Internal filter. It is not widely available in the USA at the moment but will be very shortly. In this "Honest Product Review" video I break down the features of this redesign of the Sicce Shark, an internal filter that had been on the market for 30 years! I also compare it to the Xpertmatic series of internal filters.

    Ben thanks for the initial review. We think you will be pleased with the Shark PRO. WE LISTENED to consumers and made all of the changes required to make this the best in its class.
    Redesigning it made it so we can sit it in the corner looking like an overflow box and not getting clogged even if the middle or top cup is clogged. It will still flow.
    We have some amazing new products coming as well in the coming months.
    We take our time with our products offering the best warranty because we take pride in them. I mean we have owned and started SICCE since 1973. Now with the 4 daughters of the founder running SICCE we will stay family owned and operated and 100% made in Italy.
    We have a new video coming out showcasing some of the faces at SICCE Italy and our production line.
    Thanks again for what you do.

      so sicce said above that it will still flow even if the top box is clogged, seems unlikely unless the water bypasses the media which would mean this isnt a filter anymore.

    • @robertjohnston25
      @robertjohnston25 Před rokem

      @@zenfox1979 would your rather your neglect lead to a plugged filter and possibly start a house fire? Bypass is not always a bad thing. But yes, if it’s bypassing due to being clogged, a lot less water is actually being filtered and is more so just circulating. Tldr; service your filters :)

    Ben, Jay tells me I should be able to get one in Canada by mid June. Submersible filters/powerheads seem to get a bad rap, but like so many things I think a lot of the negativity is parrotted as well, by people with no actual experience.
    I recently purchased the Marineland unit you showed us. I modified the internal filter but I also use that white paper sort of filter once in awhile, to polish the water a little, then I rinse it.
    I also use smaller units for smaller tanks. Some of my reasoning has to do with my flower shrimp and Vampire Shrimp. They require moving water so I can give them a gentle current. This new filter has me a little excited to get hold of one. That venturi hose could be lengthened, all the pumps I have just take a standard size aquarium air line. I find they can be a bit noisy just from the sound of sucking air into the pump, I will wait to see what the Shark does. My fish room is downstairs so the Venturi sound lets me know it is still running. Looking forward to getting one!

    The price is very honest and has great value considering the design and construction, especially the 900. For me the use would be more for water polishing (I would put in 45 or 60ppi sponge for my 120 overnight.) Currently I use a DYI setup with fine 20micron water filtration cartridges and a 600gph pump. The BORG!!! Lol...awesome.

      @@aznmien1871 I'm not that cool buddy...lol. But, the filtration cartridges may found at Lowes or Home Depot in the water filtration area. The cartridges are sold for drinking water as home sediment filters. They come in different micron ratings and sizes, ex. From RODI use 1micron, to 5 to 100 micron. I attached a pump in one side and plug the other side with a sandard 1inch bathtub drain plug. A run it in the tank for a few hours, usually overnight, for water polishing. The cartridges cost from $10 to $15. You can get about 2 to 3 uses from them if you clean them well. I am interested in the Sicce so I use less expensive (and reusable) filter media like a 45 or 60ppi foam. Plus maybe run carbon or other Chem when needed without using my main filtration. (Fluval Fx6s and 407).

    Are the dimensions the same for all 3 models other than the height? Or another way to ask this question, If you removed one cube from the 700 would it become the 500? I have a 20 gallon long I can't keep clean due to a flotilla of corydoras. I'd like to try the 700 first but can't find the dimensions online, even on the Sicce website. If the 700 was too tall, I'd remove one cube. Thanks!
    Found the dimensions on Bulk Reef Supply; W = 3.15" L = 3.15" for both 500 and 700. 500 H = 7.1" 700 H = 9.9"
