Whooops! Sorry for the Blurry Camera on OJ & Alex's side, we won't let that happen again!
Tsk tsk tsk. Slacking joe. Haha just kidding enjoyed the video anyway.
Ok so I used to be a mega potterhead but ive been out of the game for a while. You guys keep referring to "The Book" (and that you havn't read it and don't know whats in it) now....if you're referring to "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them" that was released alongside "Quidditch through the ages".....
Its not a book
not in the way you're thinking
its a really small thing that basically lists a bunch of magical creatures that she didn't put in or barely mentions in the original series and gives a little description about them and where they live.
that's it
theres no story and no characters
its supposed to be a real world copy of a textbook Harry has in his first year of school (I think)
It's also hella over bright.
Just to Clarify guys as a hardcore fan who also felt this movie was disappointing, some things.
First, the Bucket is an Unregistered Portkey. In the original books they talk about how Portkeys must be registered with the Ministry to ensure people can't leave the country illegally. (Portkeys are magic items that can teleport you to programmed locations at certain times, hence the stopwatch countdown)
Second, some wizards/witches are more powerful through sheer talent. Just as essentially everyone can learn a sport, but others can be better at it.
Third, wands are not the only way to cast Magic. There are even Sorcerers who don't use wands, staff users like Drumstrang. But I do find the lack of wands and verbal spells annoyed me.
Fourthly, the Librian wasn't evil. She was the Guardian of the treasury and Newt and Tina lied to her about their identity. They were trespassing and the cats were for defense and capture. They only attack when they get attacked. Also, this was inside the Ministry of France, aka...the Wizard Government building...Meaning they could very well be terrorists for her knowledge thus she tried to capture them.
Is 76 any good lol
The book isn't a story, it's literally an encyclopedia on monsters with Harry's notes in it. I'm not joking.
I listened to the audiobooks for the series. I got that book and was so disappointed. I kept waiting and hoping for a story to start.

Why did Leta go to Hogwarts when she was born in France and was smuggled to America? She literally have no affiliation with Britain and we know there is a school in both France and America! But for some reason she went to Hogwarts and befriended Newt.
Even the Lestrange burial tomb is in France.
That... Is a good point holy shit
Erasmus sponsorship probably
It's not like people can move to different countries or anything
Apparently Hogwarts is a better school...idk
The same reason people from other countries try to go to Oxford or Harvard; they are know to be better schools as is Hogwarts. It's not that big a question to answer.
The craziest thing was at the beginning, when Queenie had Jacob as her slave essentially.
Jacob is right, Queenie is crazy and he should stay away from her. She only wants him for selfish reasons and doesnt care about Jacob's feelings, that's why she agrees with Grimedelwald.
She only wants to own him, not love him.
That immediately made me feel off about her, seemed fitting that she joined the villains in the end. It's basically parallel to what the Lestrange dude did to the married woman.
She was like a completely different character from the first movie
@Alneey C Well, Harry Potter was a kid, and these are two adults. I get your point though.
Tina and newt were going to be killed for less in the first movie, yet grindelwald needs to stand trial? WTF?!
'merican rules in 'merica man, even in the wirazd world
They were given that sentence from Grindelwald in disguise as Graves because he feared Dumbledore's meddling. I don't think it's a common occurrence.
Mathew Broadway apparently no one else questioned it and they were cool with cutting out Grindelwald’s tongue.....so yeah they are pretty hardcore with punishment
Dont forget sirias black also had no trial? Because of Dumbledore?
I bet you need someone to speak up in your defence saying you need a fair trial. This explains both Remus Lupin and Lucious Malfoys positions in the ministry of magic.
((Not really)) spoilers here... but we know how the pentalogy ends. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Chapter 6, Pages 102-103, Harry reads a card from the back of a chocolate frog: "Considered by many to be the greatest wizard of modern times, Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the Dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel. Professor Dumbledore enjoys chamber music and tenpin bowling." One can reasonably expect that there will be a battle in a WWII setting involving Dumblebro and Grindeldepp.
Dumblewald
It was confirmed the last movie takes place in 1945.
It’s Dumblelaw, not Dumblebro
Well dumbelidorre has the elder wand in the Harry Potter movies, and grindlewand has it now, and you must kill the former wielder to use it so..
@@alexkid1 you haven't seen the movies or read the books have you....
Harry Potter is literally a story about a Failed Baby Murder attempt. Child endangerment is part of this universe from the start.
Edit- I'm pointing this out not only because of this review, a newish mom on a different site was upset when she heard there was some baby murder involved in new movie. SMH

All three of them are great to listen to and very endearing in different ways.

Mcgonagall a profesor in hogwarts in 1927, born 1935. Okay.
You didn’t talk about the single stupidest decision and most out-of-character moment when Queenie turned to Grindewald’s side. Unbelievably dumb.
I'm pretty sure JK Rowling used Grindelwald and Queenie as an analogy for Trump and his supporters - a charismatic evil man gaining the admiration and loyalty from brainless morons.
@@angelscross9026 hahah, what??
@@121slayer Yeah. Check to Rowling's Twitter. She's definitely a Trump hater.
@@angelscross9026 Yes I know that, which is fine. But just because Queenie leaves with Grindlewald doesn't mean its an analogy for Trump supporters. Your strawmanning, what it really looks like is someone that has a solid vision of what he wants the world to look like. He presents his case and convinces quite a bit of people that support his ideas. Why do you and others have to make up these crazy conspiracy theories? Just enjoy the world for what it is and look at what is happening within that world, put aside your political views and just enjoy and/or critique the work objectively.
@@121slayer I get what you mean. I can enjoy movies without a political lense.
It's just that after seeing this film and being aware of Rowling's political beliefs, I can't help but notice the possible political statements she's making with these characters.
The real problem with the movie is David Yates, the director. Just like the HP movies he directed, the fantastic beasts movies are horribly directed, weirdly edited, and have terrible pace. It's like he wants to confuse the audiences even more because the plot itself isn't complex enough. And dont get me started on the magic in fantastic beasts. The HP franchise was successful partly because magic was shown in a realistic fashion where you could easily relate to it. In Fantastic beasts, magic feels like you're dreaming, half of the stuff you see is so ridiculous and unbelievable that you just lose that connection plus no context is giving behind the magic, it's like they're making shit up along the way and we're supposed to accept it because magic. That's not how it's supposed to be.
First problem- script
Second- agree- David Yates= Tv director. Chris Columbus or Alfonso Cuaron would make much better movies.
I also want to point out this film is basically X-Men but with wizards. Think about it. Cool but powerful professor teaches kids with powers at a special school, while his equally powerful former best friends want to lead a revolution of powered people to take over the world of normal humans...Meanwhile, a kid who's not sure of his incredible powers is wanted by both sides...it's like JK or whoever wrote the script literally bringed the X-men movies before writing the script.
We all know spells weren't voldi's forte. He was kind of a mediocre spell caster, he relied more on ancient dark magic to accomplish his greatest feats, and on his followers hidden in high spheres of magic society. That's why he always shitted himself and escaped when confronting Dumbledore. Grinderwald it's a really talented spellcaster, he is a master mass manipulator and knows how to really use that OP wand (unlike voldemort). Also, HP saga was about a group of teenagers that barely even knew how to cast an Expeliarmus and had a hard time learning the patronus spell that only worked for dementors. So what did you expected? Obviously the magic is lame, but the mini duel between dumbledore and voldemort on book 5, that was awesome dude, and it protrays magic similar to this movie.
TLDR: quit bitching, harry was a lame teenage wizard, so thats why nothing spectacular happened on the books an lead films.
Also the FB movies cinematography is really bad, the colors are drab and boring, the angles are strange, the lighting and contrast is all off. Just bad.
Still the best looking HP movie is Prisoner of Azkaban
The Magic was my favorite part. I always thought the Magic in the HP movies were lame and that made it unbelievable to me. Seeing Grindelwald do these fantastically powerful spells really shows the difference between a high level and average wizard.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a textbook that Harry had in his first year. The real world book is a copy of said textbook, with a special introduction by Albus Dumbledore.
Grundlewend was defeated by Dumbledore in 1945. Rowling has said that Griswold's defeat happening at the end of the second world war was not a coincidence. Gruntwhistle himself had very much a "master race" ideology, and it's suggested that he influenced Hitler's actions along the same lines, perhaps indicating that Muggleborn witches and wizards were also victims of the holocaust. Girdleward was wielding the Elder Wand, a mythical artifact claimed to make its wielder unbeatable, but Dumbledore defeats him anyway, perhaps suggesting Guntleweld was caught off guard or was holding back. Before this movie, Dumbledore already had a reason for not wanting to face Girthwang, which was the death of his sister; he did not want to face the fact that either he, his brother, or Goiterwelt had caused her death.
Edit: corrected Groinwart's name, I think I spelled it wrong.
Yea it pisses me off that they had a perfectly valid reason for Dumbledore to not go face Grindelwald, but they pull this blood pact shit out of their asses to stretch this series out for far to long.
I think it's because this stuff is starting in the 20s. If they'd bumped it up to the mid-30s, they could have got away with just the real justification. As of this movie, it's another 18 years until they face off and the war finally ends.
Seriously Groinwart I'm starting to believe these names lol Harry Potter......
Grundlewend. Gruntwhistle. Girdleward. Guntleweld. Groinwart. You guys are hilarious! :)

Joe isn’t angry. He’s just disappointed.
Sounds like Grindelwald used Fiend Fire towards the end which is canonically proven to be very difficult to control, even for powerful magic users like Grindelwald.
We've only seen Fiend Fire used once, by a teenager who seemingly barely knew what it was in the final book. I'm sure for wizards like Grindelwald, Dumbledore and MAYBE Voldemort its doable. Maybe not easy, but doable.
lshe97 voldemort did it in the 5th movie too, but was able to control it or at least i couldve sworn that was it
@@Threuu I don't recall him doing that in the book though.. and I don't think it was confirmed to be the actual spell and not just normal fire in the shape of a snake.
@@lshe97 perhaps but Hermione did say even the most powerful wizards have trouble controlling it so maybe Gallery could control it to a point but then he fled when he started to lose control.

Thank you so much for the amazing video. Oh, some parts were really sad. All of you friends are super awesome!
In the first film they said that an obscurus is someone who "Repressed their magic abilities to an extreme creating a powerful being" but in this one they act like it's the lack of love which has made this monster.
1:55 we actually saw a tiny part of his obscurus form fly away when he supposedly died. But it's such a small detail nobody would remember it. I only did because i just saw the first one.
16:00 , I gotoooo teeeeaachh theseee kidssssss 😂😂😂 funnest thing ever LOL
Why does he need Credence if he's got blue dragons that can destroy Paris?
He can't use them on Dumbledore, because of the blood pact
Dumbledore has a sister because he fought Grindelwald, which ended up killing his sister. Now he has a brother, which kinda doesn't make any sense because it was only mentioned that he had a sister. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald should have had more actual crimes from Grindelwald.
My favorite part is when Angry Joe says Griswald 24:23 and I'm immediately thinking of the song "Holiday Road" and now this is a National Lampoon's Vacation piece.
Skull bong...ha. Lol Dubledore does indeed have a brother, who will later run that bar with the butter beer in it.

Hey Joe where in the world is your Soul Calibur 6 review!!??
P.S I'm a long time watcher first time reviewer and I love your videos. Thanks for entertaining us for all these years through the good times and the bad times. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
As a huge Harry Potter fan who grew up with the books and movies, please don't be afraid to call out this travesty of a film for what it is. This movie was beyond frustrating to watch and I wanted to walk out three different times but stuck with it. The whole movie was a trainwreck INCLUDING THE THIRD ACT, let's not tiptoe around the issues. The whole movie sucked. Personally, I'd give the film maybe a 3/10; and it's only really that high because it had some nice visuals.
Moo Cow People clapped at the end in my screening and I wanted to smack them upset the head.
Have to agree. This film was a massive eff you to the original HP books and movies. It's basically the Attack of the Clones or the Matrix Reloaded of the Fantastic Beasts series. I was shocked when AJ said they were going to do 3 more. 3 more of WHAT? But what makes me really mad is the continual disregard for lore, specifically the very liberal use of spells like Avada Kadava by Aurors, who are supposed to be the good guys. Avada Kadava is clearly labeled as dark magic and one of the most forbidden curses, yet Aurors throw it out like it's the most basic spell available to them. And they don't even encant it! Or any spells unless they just feel like it! There was a classical feel to the magic in HP that made it feel charming and part of a real wizarding world, but now magic is like a gun you can just fire at whoever. The comparison to the Star Wars Prequels is completely spot on...
im gonna be honest. The easiest explanation for this film is that it is missing the third act. That is what it feels like. A confusing as shit 1st act, a somewhat confusing but decent build up of a second act with a good finish but then it just cuts to credits.
@@filiperocha4025 Hey man, if you want people to let you love a movie, you let them hate a movie. If there's nothing wrong with one, there's nothing wrong with the other. You're just reacting hostilely to the other side too. And I'm pretty sure @Complex Matt was just being hyperbolic. Chill, will ya?
I consider myself a Harry Potter fan, and i actually like this movie, better than the first one in fact. How is this a travesty? Am i missing something? I honestly don't know why people are shitting on this movie.
Tbh it would be badass if Credence, Dumbledore, and Newt fought Grindelwald in the last Fantastic Beasts film
I feel like your getting better at your movie reviews keep it up
Okay Joe, FYI green light means the wizard use killing spell. So in 7:43 to answer other Joe question, yes, she did kill the 4 year old.
Pretty much agree with everything said here, there are a lot of plot holes. My personal favorite is when Newt and muggle friend talk to Creedence's "relative" whom they KNOW talked to Tina and WHERE he talked to her, but when they meet him he goes, "yes, I think I saw a woman like that, let me show you where I think I talked to her." They already know that information but listen to him anyway!
Also this quickly turned into a 'member movie when they show off Hogwarts and only the little kids are sticking their heads out of the windows, Lita goes gallavanting around the school in all these one-off shots just to reach a desk, etc.
I don't understand your problem at all. Didn't Newt and Jacob just see this black guy in this magical vision talking to Tina, so they went after him to ask him where she might be? What's the problem here?
I think i know what you mean, but it sounds like gargantuan pedantry.
Laughed all the way through this commentary, very detailed. Had seen Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) after the "Chamber of Secrets" - still couldn't understand where the *magic* of the main characters lie. This one went "dark" in part of the story, but lacked momentum in the larger magical scale with the beasts. Anyways, enjoyed your discussion!
Haha watching Joe try to explain the whole baby plot was hysterical.
AJ looked at his word of the day toilet paper today and saw "contrived" lol
I literally slept through the whole movie, and woke up at the catacom battle scene. I mean, I was quite exhausted when I entered the theater...so...anyway gotta see the whole movie once more...
He only needs Credence to kill Dumbledor because he can't himself, super bad reason.
Leta Lastrange- the girl in the “love triangle” - loves Newt bc he loves... all those creatures/those beasts/those monsters. Lastrange says- “oh newt, you have never met a monster that you couldn’t love.”
When? When Leta tells her worst fear/her secret- she was responsible for her half brother dying.
"points wand at Fantastic Beasts 2" avada kedavra!
You put the quotation marks around the wrong part.
Will be watching the Dead Baby Count (DBC) closely for this series going forward.
I'm a mega HP nerd and this movie was so inconsistent with established lore that it hurts. Plus they just throw random information in there that makes literally no sense like why Lestrange who was born to a frenchman and smuggled to America went to Hogwarts.
(The goal of the ministry is to kill Credence, because just like Harry, Credence is part of a prophecy that inspires the rebellous purebloods. The ministry already proved they can walk into Hogwarts and legally curse Albus. If Albus finds Credence, the ministry will kill him)
1.Credence was revealed to be an OBSCURUS. Which means he spent his life choking out his own magical identity. Newt was trying to convince Credence of a different path at the end of the last movie (if memory serves me correctly). The Obscurus, Credence, did not die at the end. . .he fled. The reason why Credence is so driven to find out who he is because he is an Obscurus. To find out who he is, to embrace is, is the opposite of what makes an Obscurus.
2. Crazy Cat Lady. The thing to keep in mind here, is that every time you see a green flash, it is from the killing curse. One of the three unforgivable curses. In the Harry Potter timeline...these spells will land you in prison. What did you see this ministry of magic using? The killing curse. They even have an assassin in this movie. The cats, were called spirit familiars. Newt said, the moment the creatures appeared, that they are what the ministry uses as security. AND, he also said, they only attack when attacked FIRST. Which they were.
3. Grindelwald's wand is the elder wand. The wand, which according to legend was created by Death itself, that bestows immense power to the spells cast with it by its owner. To be its owner you have to kill its previous owner, as explained in the original movies.
I'm not going to go and analyze everything brought up, but to whoever reads this: The movie does explain itself rather well.
credence channeled his obscurus into the wand. He emotionally unstable, desired to be apart of a family.
First off, by no means i think this is a masterpiece but i went in with so abyssmal expectations i actually think its ok. Tons of loopholes and it is indeed inconsistent but i see what there are trying to do its just it fails spectacularly. I like how Grindelwald is some kind of wizard Magneto but they didnt do much with him and based on the context the first movie it makes Queenie, Credence, and some other characters seem stupid. I may think its ok but i would not reccommend this unless you can turn off your brain.
I straight up forgot his name by the end of this video....
In Deadly Hallows part 2 Dombudor Brother was introduced
Dumbledore is the new Skywalker it seems.
Got to love the dead baby count, that made it worthwhile
Dumbledore and/or his brother killed their sister by accident. And credence has a phoenix which is kinda supposed to add to him being a Dumbledore.
We are at the halfway mark of titans joe. You making a video on it?
Correct me if I am wrong but Creedance sister or the asian girl is Nakimi or Voldemorts snake pet/friend who is also a Hulcrux. I caught that instantly.. awesome... I hope we get to see her turned into a Hulcrux by a young Tom Riddle.
Also think when she attacked griswald she got the blood oath trinket off so then now Dumbledore can attack
To think David Yates directed this clusterfuck.
Love you OJ.
I’m surprised you guys didn’t also put a ‘magic rape’ count too. I was shocked that this and baby death were turned into key plot points in this film. Certainly not what I intended to see at the cinema.
He did used blue flames in the very beginning of the first movie
He need “Kree Dance” to kill Dumbeldore, because Ginnywall can’t not fight with Dumbeldore too cause the thing they do that show in mirror
He did kill the kid at the beginning of the film, was horrifying, the room turned green, what spell do we know thats green, avada kedavra.
Gindelwald also has the elder wand. So he really powerful
1. what's the box Newt was talking about in the French Ministry? 2. Two of Jonny Depp's followers planted a box at the tomb, what did they do with it? 3. Why was Leta at the library 4. What's on that piece of paper Leta got at the library again? Help I'm so confused
1. The Box was the family tree of the LeStrange family which would have shown outright that the person they thought Credence was is dead.
2. The same box from before is then found at the tomb and is then revealed as the family tree of the LeStrange family which then SHOWS that baby LeStrange boy died.
3. She was there to find the box with the family tree in it.
4. It told her the box had been moved to the tomb to draw her to there
how come Newt knew about that box again?
@@staycaffeinatedyo Likely because the LeStrange's are a famous bloodline of wizards, and because with his knowledge of the Ministries of Magic he knew they'd have records of them
one more question, what was Leta's incentive to go find the box at the library and why was that library lady so scary, was she expecting Newt and Tina? And how did they end up at the tomb? I don't think Newt knew the box is at the tomb? ok it's more like 3 question...
@@staycaffeinatedyo I forgot Leta's incentive. As for that library lady being scary, Newt was wanted by the Ministry. There were literal wanted posters of him within the Ministry. The library lady probably went off to fetch those cats after she directed Newt to go off. She could be a Grindelwald follower, but it wasn't clear.
As for why they ended up in the tomb, yes Newt did know. He overheard Leta reading from the note that said where the box had been moved to. And even if he didn't hear her, he left the Ministry with Leta who would have asked him to take her there.
They didn't teleport the child or use any magic for his transport because then other wizards could have traced him by that magic.
I want to see panzerschreck wands firing at vehicles.
Giant shoulder-mounted wands.. . .
Stielhandgranate wands..
I saw the movie today and I had no idea what the story was most of the time but I was able to pick up a little bit. The visuals and magic stuff was pretty cool but everything else felt slapped on with little to no connection.
Can you raise more volume? IDK if it's just me or I feel like this format of the show is a little lower volume compared to other videos. Enjoy the review so much though lol.
The Queenie thing was pretty dumb, but what about the one agent who killed that one grindelwald follower? She goes to pull his wand on him, and he immediately resorts to killing curse, at the same time gristlewald is preaching about the ministry are the violent ones, not them? He could of used expelliarmis or stupify or ANYTHING that could have not killed her. IDK but that was pretty dumb
That was really dumb lol. Like, instant death penalty as the go to spell?? Could have used a million different non-lethal spells to stop the threat.
If you wanted Dumbledor to do Newt's work, you should also say the same for harry, Dumbledor could done everything Harry did a lot better.
But he has his plans and he likes to manipulate people.
Also Leta Lestrange and her brother were put in a boat to escape the black wizard family seeking revenge.
I think their issue with the boat was that their rich father couldn't find a better and safer form of transport for the son he loved very much. Did they not have access to portkeys or something?
@@leonhartdragomir8948 Well it was estabilished in the movie that you can't aparate without the ministry noticing, so the Black Wizard could track that way, the boat was more like a secretive travel way, as wizards use magice, a hunter would expect a magical way of travel to kill "Credence".
Biggest problem with all of harry potter is that bullets travel faster than someone can speak a spell. Shoot motherfuckers and use magic to help you or heal you. A gun is so much more useful than a wand in a world where a spell works as fast as you can clearly speak it.

She also has a fascination with raping.
did anyone else at the start when they shot the dialogue scenes find it weird the way they did it. I found it really annoying
I noticed some reverse two shots during conversations, I'm guessing David Yates is trying to be "edgy" in his old age.
It feels like these people were sleep during the dialogues and only payed attention during the fight scenes.
Nicolas Flammel is a badass. Didn’t see that coming
i was thinking the black guy, the woman, the smoke kid, and Grindelwald where all link but that went nowhere. u get close to the end and nope she switch the baby's that they gave no hints to
This movies body count was really high for this type.
All you have to do to break any HP story is ask why time-turners don't show up all the time. Literally all the time.
Remember Dumbledore couldn't do anything cause the ministry put like magic handcuffs on his aaa
the ship that sank couldn't have been the titanic. since the titanic sank in 1912, 16 years before this movie takes place. and leta lestrange is shown to be a little kid. and she wouldn't have been old enough to be the age is was in this movie
"Griselbrand" im dead 😂😂
I really see this movie series going into WW2, that'll be where 3 movies come from if they do it.
Wonderwall is duel wieldin wands, ones a shield the others a uzi wand
I just think Rowling wanted to reveal stuff in the movie that she didn't put in the books or she thought of it later and put it in the movie
CREEDANCE CAN NOT BE DUMBLEDORE’S Brother based on what we know with the books.
You forgot Nagini, the woman who helped Creedence escape from that circus. She can turn into a snake, and will eventually (as is mentioned) turn into one forever. Nagini is Voldemort's snake.
I had no clue what the hell her role was supposed to be in the movie though. Nothing substantial about her at all.
Creedence's magic-chlorian count is OVER 9000
Was it me or did Yusuf, the guy who was going to kill Credence, just disappear from the last 20 minutes of the movie?
You can see him at the tomb trying to help contain the fire dragons
He was for me the weakest character in the film, but perhaps in film 3 he will have a bigger role to play
Since when are Aurors allowed to use Avada Kedavra? Isn't it a forbidden curse? But in this movie they throw it around like it was candy?
look at alex all excited
So one thing we are overlooking here is... was that dumbledore's mother that perished in the boat crash?
Or mabey that was his sister he referenced... no way to really know.
JOE you guys should review widows if you can (go into it with an open mind though it’s a more artsier movie than the trailers lead on but it’s still fantastic) it’s a female heist movie that gives oceans 8 a run for its $$$
