  • The video about the artwork on the wall behind me: • Finding inspiration to...
    Giorgio Morandi is the modern art master of still life with bottles and vases. He made hundreds of paintings with botles and vases. So if you want to learn to paint a still life there is one place to go: Giorgio Morandi still life paintings. In this video I will make an easy still life painting for beginners. I also will show you how to paint like Giorgio Morandi by showing you his paintings, how to look at them and specific things to do to make a painting like Giorgio Morandi.
    Materials
    The art materials I use in the videos are not sponsored.
    I prefer to work on multi-purpose paper, more info in this video: • How to choose the RIGH...
    In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
    Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

      @@ImperfectPaintings the more recent ones I did was the collage art. I adopted the one where I used cuttings of papers and pasted it to be my guide. I also have been doing meditative painting where I can exercise fluidity. I would like to be versatile like you where you can paint different things. By watching your videos , you introduce me to artists I didn't know about and thanks for that.

      Hi Maria, sounds interesting what you do. Just keep doing what you love and try new things every now and then. I learn by challenging myself for my videos 'so you can do it too' 😁 Bye, Albert

    When are you using the mixing white and/or titanium white? Also, do you mix the gloss medium in with your paint on the palette, or dip into the medium after the paint? Please, explain. Thanks, and I would like to see some more still lifes like these with the imperfections in lines that Morandi used. Thanks, Albert.

    • @ImperfectPaintings
      @ImperfectPaintings  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi Jai, on my palette, next to my painting, you can see what I do (often). The difference between the whites is mixing white makes the color lighter, but still transparent, and titanium white is used to paint over things to correct them, it is opaque. Medium is used to make the paint more fluid and also more transparent, you can paint in thin layers and still see the previous layers. Check the product descriptionbon the site of a supplier, it gives you the technical details. Bye, Albert

    Your videos with helpful observations and tips are always inspiring 🌟 Do you ever use oil paints as a medium Albert?

    • @ImperfectPaintings
      @ImperfectPaintings  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Amre, no I never use oil paints. They take to much time to dry and the smell of hem fills the house what my wife doesn't like 😉
      My local painting course is also with acrylics, so the paint can dry before they go home. Is there a reason for your question? Albert

    I wondered if it mattered which side of the painting the light source comes from? Most say to emphasis left to right, but I guess it could be either side.

    • @ImperfectPaintings
      @ImperfectPaintings  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Culture Fan, it all depends of your position in the room relative to the window I guess. People often prefer the light coming from the right side. In the western world we read from left to right. We think of the future being on the right side of a line. No one wants a dark future. As an artist you can play with it, do you want to make it threatening or soothing? Getting people of balance is fun. Bye, Albert

    The crook-neck container reminds me of a Stuart David, where he uses a bottle of Odol in a still life. BTW, that background is really good. What is it?

    • @ImperfectPaintings
      @ImperfectPaintings  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Carol. Strange bottles are half the fun. I'm not sure I understand your question about the background. Albert

    I like it😃 but morandi's works has a subtle, weak color and sometimes uses greys as shadows😊
    I think urs is a little pigmented?
