I think a big reason why governments wouldn't tell the public is because if they admit that it's something they can't control then that undermines all authority they have over people. And people start to wonder if the "people" in charge should be in charge as well as if the people in charge are actually people.
You don't think it would be the fear people would have of not being able to be protected? Mass panic? If I knew they couldn't control the situation why would I put someone else into office that cannot handle the situation either? That would be pretty silly.
@@timfool even though that's a reason. I just don't think it's top priority. If anything they can use that to issue martial law and increase their authority. However right now most people view the government as a joke. Them coming out and say aliens exists and are more advanced could undermine them and some people might just see the aliens as an authority figure.

Edit: I really want to drive this point home. We had the BLM summer of love. The mental breakdown of COVID 19, the Jan 6 protest. Hell occupy Wall Street. If they cared about mass panic we would have seen them intervene long before. I don't the fear of mass panic is something the government really worries about. Maybe in the 60-70s they did, but not now. What they really care about is control. Since the 2000s if you look closely they only intervene when something is undermining their control.
When they have recovered extremely advanced technology they'd want to keep it to themselves to maintain the edge of sophistication and to hide knowledge of it from the public for the previous reason.
Alan Turing's work of cracking the Enigma Machine code in 1943 was kept secret until the 1970s, and the full story was not known until the 1990s. So keeping this UFO/UAP story a secret for 70 years sounds feasible.
I'm in this UFO subject since I was 7 yo, and knew since the very first second when I saw it. I've been ridiculed from that moment and on. But now it's time for the truth to come out!

I think the matrix of ramifications to revealing this reality is very dire, potentially.
Yeah, that's kind of my line of thinking. Even though it is exciting to think it could be true there is also the real possibility the reality of it could be not so good.

The skeptic rightly points out that a sizable number of humans would have been involved in the recovery of those multiple alien craft. Given the potential to make millions in exposing this coverup with a book to follow, and given human nature, a good bit of skepticism is more than warrented.
Suppressing information because there is an actual physical threat would be stupid. If an alien species was so advanced as to come here from another solar-system or galaxy then the best we could do for survival would be to ALL prepare for the war, each and every human.
it all comes down to a single question. one so profound and true that the answer has dire implications when fully examined. truth, right? the ONLY reason for lying! FEARR of the truth. FEAR of loss. FEAR of exposure. Occems razor........."all things considered, the simplest answer tends to be the right answer." so, ask yourself, what is the question?
I've seen a lot of weird things, but the most distinct was as a child in the late 70's I saw 2 planes (maybe more? ) chase and shoot down another over Southern iowa. The one they shot down could cross the sky very quickly, in a split second it seemed, go from forward to backwards and side to side the same way, it was darting all over. It looked like the only reason it was caught was that the slower planes, which were still much faster than any commercial plane, just kept after it, like the persistence hunters that we are. I thought it was an alien craft but who knows. It caught on fire and fell, I was sure I'd see it in the news but never heard a peep about it.
The second most distinct thing I saw was as an adult, it looked like a flying coffee can (shape and size) with sticks coming off the top which had balls on the end, and the sticks were whirling around. It was made out of light or energy. I chased it and it flew off away from me up into the corner where the wall meets the ceiling of the room I was in and disappeared into that corner. It seemed to be watching me and jerked back about a foot the first time I swiped at it, then stayed there hovering like it thought the interaction was over or an accident.
Maybe it didn't think I could see it? Bcuz it just kept jerking back and I tried to catch it 2 or 3 times at least before it finally flew off. I wonder if these things are remote controlled?
Also, while we assume these craft must be extra terrestrial or maybe even secret government experiments, if I were a billionaire or in any way wealthy I'd love to run my own experiments and technologies, and whose to say they wouldn't have their own secret scientists if they have a budget equivalent to a normal nation?

If aliens intended to do us harm they obviously have the tech to do it and they would have. They needed time to reverse engineer it. Why was jujitsu secret for hundreds of years. Power. Knowledge is power.
I'm not alone, my Chihuahua is sitting right beside me. She's pretty alien 👽too, she speaks in this strange 'otherworldly' manner and walks on all fours.
My Chihuaua is part rat terrier so she's a "ratcha" and she's moon colored so we named her Luna and she has HUGE ears and HUGE dark eyes and long skinny legs and overall she's thin so basically looks similar to the stereotypical alien we see in pop culture. 🤣She is the sweetest dog and absolutely adorable!
Ole Mickey at the beginning I thought he was just cynical in his thinking but looks he understands a good amount of why the government would suppress this type of information and how. He does have though still a limited understanding of the cosmos and many theoretical sciences that have been studied as well tested in some way or form. As far as religion well I think he is even less versed or has a deep understanding of that. I don’t claim to know it all or even understand it all but there is much that the general public wouldn’t grasp or even more so if they knew like you stated before us as a human species wouldn’t know how they would react. It’s all about keeping a competitive edge over the rest of the world I think we should already understand that by now. Happy hunting for the trutth😊
The general public? Sheesh man. Walk a mile in my boots. I know what is going on. There is an awful amount of not knowing. This really is a case of giving your kid a box of matches. As an adult, I know what they do. Make fire. How? Forgot that a long time ago. Understanding is trippy. EG: Religion. If you have the ability to fly through the stars, you don't need resources any more. Why bother with greed? Why bother with Gods? Seen them all before right?
It becomes a moot point.
But Humanity is dumb as a rock. Here is an opportunity for everyone to get what they want. You can have a China planet. A Russian Planet. Limitless resources. A good old USA Planet. And hopefully trade. But here is the catch. You gotta work for it.

Planes hardly ever crash compared to how many there are flying. These UAPs probably never crash outside the hemisphere of the earth's atmosphere. Here we have electrical storms in our atmosphere. Outside not.

Does anyone see the problem with the 'hostile ET's' scenario? They wait until our technology takes a quantum leap before attacking? It makes no sense whatsoever. If there are multiple races of ET's here, then some could be hostile and some not, but the hostile ones are being held off by _something,_ or else we'd already have been conquered. Something else is going on here.
The point in this may be the many treaties made between the USA and the very aliens that followed after the Roswell incident.
