  • This was purchased from the original owners. The title was from the original sale. The scooter has been completely rebuilt and include the preferred upgrades and 12 volt starter / generator. The 8 hp engine, transmission and speedometer are original to the machine as are the entire frame and optional rear grab bar. As part of the scooter's rebuild, the engine has a 3" sleeve also a billet head, high output coil and Mikuni carburetor. The transmission has new bearings and seals. The polished stainless steel exhaust was custom made for this scooter. 10" wheels with Michelin tires were also added. The red enamel is a 2009 Ford automotive color. (gas tank and blower housing will have new water apply decals shortly)

Great ride , 👍‼️I owned one in high school ,My 1958 Cushman Silver Egeal had a 3 speed transmission, dual chrome exhaust , They all sound alike even after a rebuilt engine using Factory technical manual , and New bearings , the sewing machine sounds brings me back to better days ‼️

Well I’ll be 66 this February. My dad used to speak of his Eagle when I was young. Who’d have ever thought I would have one too! I love it, but you can’t buy American made points and condensers for them now. I’m tired of repeated ignition failures from the Chinese junk parts.

Thank you. Since this video was recorded I've applied the correct water type decals. There's a later video showing how it looks now. It's a lot of fun to ride!

@@chatrkat this footage takes me back to my high school days in Blue Island Illinois, I crashed the senior prom on my Cushman Eagle in the gymnasium doing burnouts 🔥🔥🔥 the manual clutch and three-speed transmission was an awesome innovation everytime I dumped the floorboard clutch I could make the rear wheel squeal ‼️

@@DavidLouisLouis-qh9ni that’s a great story, sounds like a couple guys I went to high school with, back in the day. I grew up in Oak Lawn, still live in IL now 40 years later. I also have a 53 Eagle with an 18 hp Vanguard and torque converter drive, It tops out at 73 mph and gets there real fast too 😂, it is a far cry from my 58 that is geared to run 35 mph.

@@chatrkat My name is David Staudohar, I grew up there, where did you go to high school ❓❓❓What a small world, the 58 was a retrofit bike made with other parts from different scooters my friend, My aunt and uncle lived off of 111th and Crawford, a couple street's down from ranch manor plaza , I bought the Cushman from Richard's Cycle shop on 103! S. Kedzie ave, I believe they call a greater Chicagoland cycles today, and in sixties and seventies they sold mini bikes snowmobiles and motorcycles , I have nothing but great memories from Oaklawn ,Hands down By far the absolutely best and well-kept neighborhood anywhere in the city of Chicago ♥️♥️👍👍‼️

@@DavidLouisLouis-qh9ni how fun, I love meeting local people that see a video of mine. I know Richard’s Bicycle Shop well, as well as all the other businesses you referenced. I used to drool at the mini bikes in Richard’s back in the late 60s / early 70s. Also, both of my Schwinn bicycles came from there, in spite of my dad complaining about Richard’s prices back then. 😂 I would have attended Richards High School but they had started “bussing” the less-than-desirable students from the inner city. My parents said no, I when to the Christian high school on Rt 83 all 4 years. Turned out to be a wise decision by my parents but I didn’t think so as a kid. My 58 Eagle was purchased from the brother of the original deceased owner. The man was a retired machinist with a well equipped home shop. He rebuilt the Eagle quite meticulously, including fabricating many smaller parts from stainless. The shift linkage is tight and smooth, all new stainless parts. He did a very nice job all around. I jumped on the scooter when I found it for sale in Lombard. If you have not seen it yet, look at the video I published when I got the 53 Eagle. That is as my first Eagle, I had it shipped from FL. Two scooters is my limit, I have too much stuff now.

Best guy I can recommend is Steve @ Arcadia Cushman, in Arcadia Indiana. There is not a Cushman question he can’t answer. They have a large stock of parts as well. Good luck with your project.
